In my opinion, the worst ending in this game is the Neutral ending where you stop the genocide route during the Core, but still kill Mettaton and Asgore. At the phone call at the end, Alphys talks to you about her hatred towards you and how she wishes she had killed you from the beginning. Really shows that Genocide isn’t the worst ending compare to some of the Neutral endings.

Honestly, i love genuine neutral undertale playthroughs that border on no mercy. Besides a true pacifist not being achievable in your first save file anyways, and neutral being the intended first way to play, the whole point is consequences. When people in chat/comments tell you 'the correct way to play', it takes away much more from the experience.

    • @alessandrosilvafilho8527
      @alessandrosilvafilho8527 Рік тому +28

The thing of the "correct way to play" is just an optimal sequence to not have to repeat the game. I think people only have this urge because of how similar the pacifist is to any neutral until the true pacifist part.

    • @aaravgaur7
      @aaravgaur7 Рік тому +20

Actually, it IS possible to achieve true pacifist on your first save file, you just need to return to the save point before Asgore after defeating Flowey, then, visit Alphys in the true lab. So, you CAN actually do it on your first save file too.

@@aaravgaur7I think there's a difference between first playthrough and 1 playthrough. While it is possible, it's like looking up a guide to this game and railroading to the highest degree from fans for a first playthrough of the game. At that point, people dont want to see the actions people take but a reaction video with extra steps.
It's possible in 1 playthrough (which i didnt know so thanks) but only experienced players will choose that one

Undertale's trailer pitched it as "the friendly RPG where no one has to DIE."
That means in the game's best ending, everybody lives!
In the meantime, some fun facts! (no major spoilers) :
    - It is actually harder than you'd think to get killed by Toriel during her battle.
    - It is impossible to get killed by Papyrus; he will instead "capture you".
    - Undyne absolutely calls you out if you killed _specific_ monsters (e.g. any/all of the five Dogs). She does not have a reaction for _every_ monster (especially those in the Ruins), but she does have a response for having killed monsters in general.
    - It's technically possible to get an ending where Alphys says she should have killed you.
    - It's technically possible to battle Sans, but even he would say you don't want to do that.
    - During the battle against Asgore, his attacks will only kill you after you're reduced to 1HP.
    - You only get that one opportunity to actually kill Flowey.

There's actually a lot of clever sleight of hand going on in omega flowey fight. The fact that you can't see the number for your hp let toby get a way with a lot of trickery there.
A lot of this would be pretty obvious if not for the fact that the fight is, by design, too hectic and overwhelming for you to pay close attention to the hp bar.
1: flowey's attacks do progressively less and less damage as your hp goes down. It only takes around 3 hits to go down to what looks like around a quarter health, but you can actually still take 5+ more hits without dying
2: this does _not_ apply to healing, so the closer you are to death the more powerful the healing items are
3: the soul attacks actually can't kill you at all, no matter how much you get hit.
4: i'm 90% sure that your health drops at the same rate no matter how much of it you have, which is obscured by hiding the hp number, and helps keep the difficulty about even regardless of level.

Some information on the Pacifist and Genocide Routes:
The route you achieved is called the Neutral Route, obtained by not doing either extreme.
To achieve the Pacifist Route, you must spare every enemy. An enemy that can be spared will have a yellow name. Some enemies will start off being able to be spared, but you will have to perform certain ACTions in order to spare some enemies. Some enemies may also be able to be spared by lowering their HP. On top of not killing any enemies, you also need to do a little side quest with three of the main characters. This route has the most lore out of the three endings, and is my personal favorite ending.
To achieve the Genocide Route, you must kill every enemy. Each location has a cap on how many enemies you can kill, and you must reach that cap before fighting the boss in that area (ex: Toriel). You will know when you reach the cap. This route doesn't have much more lore, but it affects the story and adds some additional difficulty to the game.
If you see this, I hope this helps. Whatever route you choose to play, if any, I hope you have a fantastic day!

This was great to watch. The thing the internet spoiled most about Undertale was blind playthroughs. No one goes in blind anymore, especially UA-cam gamers and streamers. And even if they do, they get the game ruined for them the minute anyone comments or posts in the chat. The backseat driving in this fanbase is insane - people are sentimental towards the characters (for good reason) so they can't stand to see anyone making bad choices. But the whole point of this game is that there ARE so many choices you can make. A player will find out soon enough whether they will regret making those choices - they don't have to be told.
Thanks for taking a stab at playing Undertale blind. There really is nothing like encountering it for the first time. Your commentary was hilarious and your exponentially increasing guilt and confusion was funny too.

Honestly, I am not surprised that Jack decided to kill everything he met, I expected that from the guy who regularly kills shinies and Nuzlocke Pokémon on purpose lmao
I am SO proud though that he spared Papyrus! (so funny how he pronounces the name, first honestly and then defiantly after hearing the correct pronounciation XD), but this also makes me realize that Papyrus is, in fact, the first monster to directly ENCOURAGE you to spare, by showing you mercy and telling you to spare him in return, and also told "Hey, you can spare people, remember?" I feel like most people will spare him on their first runs (unless they're a-holes maybe), coz who would ever wanna kill this precious skelly?
I am very glad that he played the game without streaming, coz while it's fun to play with others (or with a chat), it's not recommended to play it blindly for the first time with a chat, coz the backseating and spoilers can be awful.
It's very fun to see Jack's reactions to the mechanics and characters of this game for the first time (outside of memes and music), and it seems like he had a lot of fun! :D
One of the great things about Undertale is that it's a very short game to beat, which means it's very quick and easy to get a Neutral and True Pacifist ending, and even trying out Genocide (even if you can't beat it on the same day that you started it, much less the same day as you do Neutral or TP, if you even have enough time to try out all three routes).
Even speedrunning the game and skipping all the text isn't without emotion. Nowadays I typically speedrun my runs a bit, at least during the dialogues that don't change regardless of your choices, and only read the dialogue parts that can change depending on your choices.
Undertale is great. Glad you finally played it, experienced it for the first time, and did what you do best: Being a menace. XD
Also OMG very good job on beating Flowey on the second try! That's really hard to do when you play the game for the first time and have never seen it!
I very much would love to see you do the True Pacifist route and Genocide route, they're both awesome in different ways, but one is definitely sadder than the other.
Also kinda cool that you got the King Papyrus ending. It's also one of the sadder ones, coz, well... it's hard for Paps, and so many people are dead.
    Undertale is awesome.

What a great video! The fact that Jack almost went genocide on his first playthrough was honestly very surprising to me XD. Never seen someone play like that before on their first time!
Please, please, PLEASE play through the other endings! I would love to see how you react >:)) Just so you know, it's alright if you have to look up some things in order to get the endings! There's so many ways to abort Genocide or Pacifist into getting a different ending and having to restart. (Talking from experience, lol.) Overall, a great video! It was very enjoyable. :D

It's been forever since I last saw a fresh new reaction to Undertale. You genuinely acted like the curious, naive innocent child that the main character is, and it was interesting to see the choices you made and the regret you felt.
