    Absolutely magnificent experience that was! What an era of Perth train enthusiasm this is, A series returning to the Yanchep/Mandurah lines, C series beginning service, Yanchep extension opens, now the Ellenbrook line has opened with us having the great opportunity to have ridden on all three train types on the line! It’s remarkable how all this has happened in the space of 1 year!

      Yes they always test all train types they went to the Airport Line too but were deemed not safe there.

      Exactly everyone is so confused with trains terminating on the Perth through platforms all the time now.

    It's funny how the A series was considered silent back in the day its like 80db at cruising speed

    23:45 The main problem with the Mandurah line is warnbro to Lakelands it will take way longer. Instead of 15 minutes, it will be like 25

    There was an airport A series at around 11am this morning, the A series I was on from city west terminated at Perth, as I walked over to platform 9 to catch the midland line the first A series changed to H'Wycombe
    I also question why Ellenbrook has to terminate in Perth and not just turn into a Daglish H

    • @TransportofPerth
      @TransportofPerth  8 годин тому

      @@avgfree21 No way there was an Airport A!!? They wouldn't just run it randomly for no reason. That's so weird. And yes I think it's extremely stupid that the Ellenbrook Line doesn't continue in service to Daglish. The frequency on the western side of Perth is completely screwed up now.

    Arent the cars on the B series bigger though? The 4 car A series should be about the same capacity as the B series 3 cars.

    • @CJTheAllrounder
      @CJTheAllrounder 15 годин тому

      No, the 4 car A series have more capacity than the 3 car B series as the 3 car B series do not cover the entire platform length for 4 car platform stations. For example Loch St is only a 4 car platform and the B series does not occupy the entire platform length

    • @TransportofPerth
      @TransportofPerth  13 годин тому +2

      No they are identical length of cars. The only thing that takes away capacity is that there is a pair of drivers cabs in the 4-car A-series.

    • @beebeenyneeee7692
      @beebeenyneeee7692 9 годин тому

      @CJTheAllrounder the difference in capacity is only 8 people.

    was this footage filmed yesterday in the middle of 40 deg temps - Transperth would be running at reduced speed wouldn't it? Might account for some delays?

    • @TransportofPerth
      @TransportofPerth  4 години тому

      @@andrewmurray1550 Yes that's what the delays were due to but for some reason they still seemed to be running full speed on this journey.

  • @Calamari-m8d
    @Calamari-m8d 9 годин тому

    I still don't get why they don't use 4car trains along the airport line if they use it for the Ellenbrook line.

    • @TransportofPerth
      @TransportofPerth  8 годин тому +1

      @Calamari-m8d 1. They would be incredibly noisy.
      2. Their motors are quite weak to get up the grade exiting the tunnel. During testing a A-series which got stuck at a signal down there got stuck and couldn't make it up the hill.
      3. They do now have the sufficient fire safety devices required by law to run into the tunnels.
      And even if they could run them, there's no reason to. Patronage isn't that high and the Bs are just faster and newer presenting a better look to first time users.

  • @sergeykuzmichev8064
    @sergeykuzmichev8064 3 години тому

    Just curious, is there a reason they’re running A series on the Joondarah line? I quite like it, it feels much faster than the B series when it hits 110 on the Kwinana freeway.
    Thanks for showing the Ellenbrook line
    Also whats your beef with the woman announcer lol

    • @TransportofPerth
      @TransportofPerth  3 години тому +1

      They just don't have enough B-series at the moment. And I just hear the female all the time while the male isn't that common so I would prefer to hear that one.
