I hope you have such a great time for your grad program! I came over from your Disney vlogs (which I love soooooo much). I’m excited too see where life takes you! Edit: command hooks remind me of the dcp!!!
Olivia's Grad Life it was insane last month! Luckily my place is on top of a hill so it wasn’t too bad but a lot of the roads weren’t drivable. Very glad this month we haven’t had nearly as much rain!!
great first vlog, hope all is going well ! those scenes and cuts from the university buildings are crazy, there are so many students ! I go to a pretty small university in Scotland so it just looked crazy to me haha
Sounds like you're in for a packed first year of grad school. I feel like welcome weeks always have a different feel to them depending on where you're living (on campus [dorm vs. apartment], off campus) and of course the size of your school. You seem to have made the most of it though. 😊 Nittany Lions are the best? I dunno. I think Crandall Chargers might be able to take 'em on. 🐯🐴
I'm enjoying your grad school vlogs. I'm living vicariously through you some because I did my master's degree in a Cohort while working full time. So I never got the real grad school experience. Edit: I'm watching your interview video and you mention a Cohort. For me our cohort was a group of teachers with fulltime jobs who got together 1 time a week in the evening and two weeks in the summer to get our masters.
Hello Olivia! Just found your channel because I was looking for some suggestions about starting grad prgrm & found your vlogs! I’m planning to enroll for a PhD but do you think Masters in communication is a must ? Would love your suggestions! Thanks for the lovely vlogs! Btw, I’m new here at state college! Seems like you used to live in vairo!😢that is my old apt. ❤
I’m getting my bachelors in Creative Writing. I don’t go to Penn State but I may be interested in English Masters. I don’t know though if it’s easy to transfer credits or in general how the program is.
That's really awesome!! I took a few creative writing / fiction writing classes in college and loved them. Although I did have one professor who argued about the meaning of one of my characters but whatever 😂😂😂 Anyway, yeah I have no clue what other grad programs are like here! But it's a great school! This is random but Notre Dame has a creative writing grad program as well (almost applied to it lol)
I'll be honest, this was about 4 years ago now, so I don't know how much I remember about each class period, but there would be anywhere from 60-100 pages of reading each week for our 3 hour class; we had an explication paper, two exams, and a final research project that we had to conduct from beginning to end (e.g., conceptualization, survey creation, data collection, data analysis, write up). We also had to present articles once or twice a semester, detailing the methods and critiquing the paper; and we had to come up with discussion questions each week and say them in class. It was COMM 506: Quantitative Social Science Research Methods
Carpets weren't clean, sink was leaking, grease all over the kitchen, fridge/freezer didn't work (found out after all my food spoiled), oven light didn't work, doors and window sills were sticky, entire kitchen not cleaned at all, hair painted into walls in bathroom, cabinet doors not lined up, balcony covered in algae/moss, entrance has no drainage so I step in a 2-3 inch puddle whenever it rains.... they started taking care of it after I went to the regional manager!! lol
Are you vegetarian? I know you were having lots of allergies while on your first DCP so I just figured you ate meat (since a lot of vegan/veg stuff has soy in it, and I know soy is a big allergy people have). It was cool seeing you get some awesome staples I also get in my household too!
I definitely ate meat during my first program - you're right, it's one of the few things I could eat! A lot of my allergies have turned to sensitivities and since then I've gone vegetarian! I try not to eat TOO much of anything - so for example I bought soy burgers, veggie burgers, and black bean burgers so I don't have too much of one thing! Are you vegetarian too??
Welcome to PA (from/live in Philly)! Hope your first semester at PSU goes well. A shame you couldn't upload your move in vlog. Are you allowed to paint your apartment? You couldn't bring your dog? Hope for your time there you really explore the state. PA is really beautiful in the fall and venture down to Philly (and NYC) around Christmas. Nittany Lions are best! My dad and brother graduated from Penn State. So I am a fan lol

Please post that blog of move in. I’m having anxiety about moving into an apartment and it’s totally messed up.
Aw I'm sorry you're feeling anxiety :/ At this point I don't even know where my move in footage is

Can you share about your class on research method?

Would be nice if you can make a video on those topics, so that we can have ideas. Thanks.
@@lionheart33 I have several videos talking about what my grad classes are like, the assignments / expectations, etc! :)
What was wrong with your apartment and did they ever make it right?! New England weather is unique!
