So no Crashgate of the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix that saw the biggest fixing scandal in motorsport history or Spygate between Ferrari & McLaren? Too many American related sport scandals in and not international ones!
+MrDangerDaysF1' FIFA, Winter Olypics Australian Rugby and the Tour de France is international. And your talking about motor sports, not the same thing.
codeword they were literally recording the catcher from out field and banging the bat for the hitter to know if it was a curve or fastball in my book that’s like lookin at the other teams playbook
+Crispee Towne basically Juventus (one of the biggest and most respected teams of italy) and other teams within that same league were caught paying off refs for the game to be in their favor. They got caught and were made to pay large fines, Juventus to get stripped from their championship title (of the year before that i belive) and got send to the 2nd division league WITH negative points to start off. It was one messy lasagna.
+C666O AC Milan were punished too, they were given negative points to start the season. Inter wasn't, because they werent a part of it. They originally came in 2nd place and since juventus was stripped from first place, it was given to Inter.
+Logan Bangerter I'd say the Ray Rice scandal is a better example. They had no freaking proof that Brady so called deflated the footballs. Now, Brady is one of the best QBs right now.
+S Lowry Let's not forget about the Saints bounty program...they stole a Super Bowl because of their bullshit play style. The league gave them a free pass because hurricane Katrina that was forever before that!
+Logan Bangerter I used to say that, until I learned 5 years ago no team was worth over 1 billion. Now over 19 teams are worth 1 billion and cowboys are valued higher than real madrid. Yeah.. Goddell has some tactics
+Logan Bangerter Goodell seems incapable of making good decisions, and even in situations where the NFL needs to enforce discipline it has no credibility so that whether or not u believe Belichick and Brady were guilty, Roger Goodell's incompetence instantly gave them a public relations advantage.
The correct name of this video is United States Sports scandals, you forget the Andrea Raduccan story, when Mclaren spys Ferrari on F1, Ferraris order o Hungaroring 2004, the Olimpic games of moscow boicot, the Ayrton Senna Accident causes, the italian soccer league scandal
And I would add the 1970 Bundesliga scandal, so popular, that in Germany, its just called “the scandal”. Clubs in danger of getting relegated offered money at the more successful teams that season. In conclusion, two clubs had their licenses pulled and multiple players were suspended for lifetime.
the main reason why the Black Sox scandal happen due in part because the owner was too damn cheap so the players involved were offered more cash to go with the plan than the morals of the game. in the end, i dont blame the players
Is that a fucking problem? This is a list made by a North American company who's biggest audience is in north america so no shit it would be focused on American sports, so feel free to look up some European scandals somewhere else
+Demi Raymore It was such an easy way to go about because a lot of the adults were very drunk and unruly and forced weak minded officers in the getting what they wanted which was to see the game for free. Also Liverpool having one of the biggest and most violent firms in the country didn't help. Unfortunately for the police force, the Liverpool fans were very persistent in finding answers and they were exposed for covering up everything from evidence to editing quotes to the papers from witnesses.
+dannybob42 Hillsborough was a tragedy that later developed into a national scandal. I don't think they included it because the scandal was with the police and not the sporting bodies.
Guys, The 2006 Calciopoli was a bigger case than Robert Hoyzer's. First of all at the time the italian league was comparatively bigger than Spanish La Liga at the time far bigger than the bundesliga, That year they won the world cup for crying out loud. Second, Robert Hoyzer fixed matches at 2 Bundesliga (Second Division) and Regionaliga (at the time third division) while the calciopoli effected the the top three tiers of italian football, even Juventus, who were the Italian Champions at the time were stripped of their title.
I would personally put Lance Armstrong's doping allegations at #1, It's the fact that he got away with it for so long. A good movie on the subject of trying to bypass doping tests is "Icarus"
It is wierd when there are less injuries in rugby than in American football even when football players have more protective gear than rugby players, rugby and football is like the same game you throw, you kick, you tackle, you score touchdown. touchdown.
“Allowing Brady to get the upper hand” the other team used the same balls how did he have the upper hand? And after they reinforced the balls the patriots started performing better
People that point out Shoeless Joe's offensive statistics never bother to mention that he slowed down in the outfield to let balls fall in.....a much more efficient way of blowing a game than getting a bases empty single.
U of Ottawa Gee Gees men's hockey team of 2013-14 was caught up in a sexual assault incident at Lakehead U in Thunder Bay, Ontario at the end of the season. The school immediately suspended the entire program for the 2014-15 season, and players who weren't involved had their reputations destroyed. Only 2 players were criminally charged while the rest of the players saught a class action lawsuit from the University. Days later the school announced the program was suspended for the 2015-16 season as well. The team returned for the 2016-17 season. I personally feel horrible for the players and disgusted with how the University handled the situation.
Really? You can't think of any bigger sport scandals than deflategate? (Except the other eight on the list) It didn't even have any real evidence? Fucking hell Watchmojo...
Lance Armstrong did it right. He even had the courage to admit to what he did (which was exactly what everyone else did BUT he did it better) even though it was legacy shattering. He's still and forever will be Lance and (NOBODY) can take that away from him.
His lie raised like a billion dollars to help cancer patients....sometimes people need to stfu everyone from 1 to I believe 37th place tested positive so was the playing field really that uneven?
Australia's peptides and drug sporting scandal? This saw Australian sporting clubs from a variety of sports get fined, players were suspended, coaches were also banned, long drawn out court dates, officials and doctors associated with the clubs were fired and fined. This still hasn't reached any conclusion yet as well.
Thank You Mojo for an actual list that doesn't involve ridiculous video games themes... I would say as honorable mentions lets throw in Tawnya Harding, Pete Rose, and the New York Jets for impersonating an NFL team for 45 years...
+Bruce His HEAD grew from the time he left Pittsburgh through the rest of his career! Steroids just ruin the game, and I don't care what the crybaby Canseco says. They just ruin the game. Sure, home runs are fun to watch, but honest, rule-following home runs are the best. #Hankwillalwaysbetheking
+Alex Solis They help if you can actually hit the ball in the first place. There are plenty of players who juiced but never put up the numbers Mcgwire, Sosa and Bonds were putting up. Juicing doesn't help your coordination to see and actually make contact with the ball.
BruceAeroustile bonds was in incredible athlete and baseball talent for years in Pittsburgh before he started juicing. He was a jerk, but a once in a lifetime talent as well
Crashgate Nelson Piquet Jr crashed on purpose in the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix to help Fernando Alonso win the race, technical director Pat Symonds was banned for 5 years and Flavio Briatore was banned banned for life but Alonso was allowed to keep the win
I reckon the Spanish basketball team at the Paralympics deserves to make the list. As the consequences were horrific. Athletes with an intellectual disability were barred from competing in the Paralympics until Rio 2016. Destroying the dreams of hundreds of athletes.
It's also called soccer. People like you sound so unintelligent when you spend hours arguing semantics. Soccer or football, both words describe the exact same sport.
Tom Brady is a liar. He insists that he knew nothing about the systemic deflating of the team's footballs, .... for perhaps as many eighteen games. He had those balls in his hands, repeatedly. In fact, handling footballs is THE major feature of his job-description. There simply is NO WAY he couldn't have known what was going on, none. He is, in his own way, as bad a character as Lance Armstrong was for long-distance cycling. if he had any kind of moral backbone, he'd quit and retire from the game altogether.
ITT: people that don't realize they are watching an American youtube channel, in english, and are butthurt that they aren't being catered too. But yeah totally, it's Americans who are full of themselves and self-centered....
Montpellier handball team betting scandal, F1 crashgate, OM's so called buying of the VA game (which as an OM fan i still do not believe) which lead OM to loose it's league title and was relegated for 2 years in 2nd division...

Lance Armstrong got purposefully defamed by powerful cigarette corporations that have ties to politicians. They took away his credibility to stop him from promoting anti cigarette campaign and anti cancer campaign
How about the WHL's Portland Winterhawks? They were doing a lot of decrepit things in order to lure players into their system, i.e. Seth Jones, and they got caught. Their head coach was given a season-long suspension. Additionally, the OHL's Windsor Spitfires were sanctioned and substantially fined for some of their scouting techniques. Yet the London Knights are still not even thought about... I have a very good reason to believe that something is going on there... they seem to get players report to them like crazy.

"Nothing that just reflects poorly on one individual." Tiger Woods and Lance Armstrong mentioned as individuals. All in all good list, but don't break your own rules.
To make EVERYONE happy, have one Top 10 for the US and one Top 10 for everyone else. BEFORE anyone says anything as to WHY the US should have one all to themselves, is that the BIG sports, such as football(soccer in America), cricket, rugby, etc etc are generally more well known amongst everyone who ISN'T American....but maybe we should all step back, take a moment to think (like I just did), and come to this conclusion: I can't believe we're arguing amongst ourselves over a public opinion poll that we watch for FREE on the bloody internet! I need to get a report done!
what about the Essendon Football Clubs doping? happened in 2012 and is still unresolved. players were supposedly cleared this year because the AFL doesnt want to tarnish their name
So no Crashgate of the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix that saw the biggest fixing scandal in motorsport history or Spygate between Ferrari & McLaren? Too many American related sport scandals in and not international ones!
+MrDangerDaysF1 massively agree.
+MrDangerDaysF1' FIFA, Winter Olypics Australian Rugby and the Tour de France is international. And your talking about motor sports, not the same thing.
+Alain Quevillon How can you not call, F1, international
Kyle Kubaska That's your opinion, your wrong, but your entitled to it.
+Kyle Kubaska Formula 1 is absolutely a sport. Those drivers are among the fittest athletes on the planet.
Really? No mention of the Italian scandal in 2006 that saw Juventus, one of the world's most prestigious clubs, relegated?
Could barely believe that actually happened!
*****
...and one Australian, though with all due respect to the A-League, that scandal hardly compares to the Serie A one.
+Mr K Juve merdaaaa
THIS is more important than deflate gate
dario il diario
Forza Milan!
wait why is Tiger Woods an honorable mention? it has nothing to do with the game itself and goes against the criteria set at the beginning
+rockindrop It's Mojo.
Yeah The Sandusky scandal had nothing to do with the game either
they wanted some fillers
gotta update this after the astros sign stealing saga lol
Martin Rosario facts
Martin Rosario, you could suggest Another Top 10 Sports Scandals.
Can someone tell me how sign stealing is bad?
codeword they were literally recording the catcher from out field and banging the bat for the hitter to know if it was a curve or fastball in my book that’s like lookin at the other teams playbook
The asterisks
i dont get how the Juventus scandal got overlooked. That event was shocking .
+John C What was it?
+Crispee Towne basically Juventus (one of the biggest and most respected teams of italy) and other teams within that same league were caught paying off refs for the game to be in their favor. They got caught and were made to pay large fines, Juventus to get stripped from their championship title (of the year before that i belive) and got send to the 2nd division league WITH negative points to start off.
It was one messy lasagna.
John C Mama mia!
+John C I remember AC Milan and Internationale were also involved and punished as well.
+C666O AC Milan were punished too, they were given negative points to start the season. Inter wasn't, because they werent a part of it. They originally came in 2nd place and since juventus was stripped from first place, it was given to Inter.
Deflategate is the best example to show how awful Roger Goodell is as a commissioner.

+S Lowry Brady destroying his phone certainly raises suspicion, but frankly, Goodell was awful at handling the Deflategate scandal.
*football league scandal
And I would add the 1970 Bundesliga scandal, so popular, that in Germany, its just called “the scandal”. Clubs in danger of getting relegated offered money at the more successful teams that season. In conclusion, two clubs had their licenses pulled and multiple players were suspended for lifetime.

+Ben Beveridge ...
+LeCoolFace they do but as an nonamerican this video felt like it was heavy focused on american sports
1 word for you, Hillsborough
+dannybob42 Hillsborough wasn't so much as a scandal as it was a disaster.
+Gameflyer001 he's talking about the following police investigation
+Demi Raymore It was such an easy way to go about because a lot of the adults were very drunk and unruly and forced weak minded officers in the getting what they wanted which was to see the game for free. Also Liverpool having one of the biggest and most violent firms in the country didn't help. Unfortunately for the police force, the Liverpool fans were very persistent in finding answers and they were exposed for covering up everything from evidence to editing quotes to the papers from witnesses.
+Demi Raymore and "the sun" both
+dannybob42 Hillsborough was a tragedy that later developed into a national scandal. I don't think they included it because the scandal was with the police and not the sporting bodies.
Brady did not get the fucking upper hand. Holy fuck....
Even by Watchmojo standards this was far too America-centric. Disappointing.
Uhm, cricket?
There are sports outside of the U.S.A.!?
Your country can start their own top 10 UA-cam channel anytime they want
Club Spaceman Um if they’re gonna say BIGGEST then they should say (American) in small print at least
pringlecake given the fact that literally every Olympics is dirty

To add to #1 the Qatar world cup will cement it #1 for decades.
umm is Tiger Woods infidelity really a "sports" scandal
+james Mcneely lol yeah it was.
It's Tiger Woods. Of course it is.
prof shad apparently
Who cares, it had no effect on the game. He is a bad person but so are many sports people
I would personally put Lance Armstrong's doping allegations at #1, It's the fact that he got away with it for so long. A good movie on the subject of trying to bypass doping tests is "Icarus"
What about the nelson pique jr Singapore crash in 2004
+Matthias Peeters *2008
But yeah I agree
Having a luxury apartment just for the guys cats. That’s the most extra thing I’ve ever heard 😂😂
Excuse me, Juventus, ring a bell anyone? not even an honorable mention. instead theyre saying silly stories from USA that no one really cares about...

+WBS Juventus are one of the worlds biggest clubs, more known around the world then any other handegg team
Exactly that was big at the time.. Juve One of the biggest teams in the world were champions to a relagated team.
+Oisin MacCarthy explain to me why are the dallas cowboys (richest sports franchise) more known than juventus?
+WBS NO IT IS NOT WTF
what abt crashgate and spygate of the 2008 and 2007 f1 seasons respectively
ravindra Bastari and the 2002 Austrian gp
When Deflategate came up, I thought it was related to F1...but eh
+Liam Catterson me too..
Seems to me that a deflated football would be bad for BOTH teams.
Ref. Kerry Fraser conveniently missing Wayne Gretzky carving open Doug Gilmore in the 93 playoffs between LA &Tor.
not even a special mention for Calciopoli?
+Cristian Morales Fernandez The fuck? Calciopoli is arguably the biggest football scandal of all time.
+Cristian Morales Fernandez i thought this was gonna be #1 but it wasnt even mentioned wtf

McLaren f1 spy gate
I was about to comment about that
2008 Singapore GP Crash gate
“Allowing Brady to get the upper hand” the other team used the same balls how did he have the upper hand? And after they reinforced the balls the patriots started performing better
No McLaren espionage 2007 case?
FIFA is a fucking joke, I will cry if Sepp Blatter is re elected.

Wow. No mention of auto racing scandals? (Spygate, everyone?)
And crashgate
People that point out Shoeless Joe's offensive statistics never bother to mention that he slowed down in the outfield to let balls fall in.....a much more efficient way of blowing a game than getting a bases empty single.

Fucking hell Watchmojo...
I feel that the Essendons drug scandal is worse than a salary cap breach
SMU in the 80's ring a bell?
“The Pony Excess”
Lance Armstrong did it right. He even had the courage to admit to what he did (which was exactly what everyone else did BUT he did it better) even though it was legacy shattering.
He's still and forever will be Lance and (NOBODY) can take that away from him.
Bill Burr said it best. The malice in the palace was really entertaining and Lance Armstrong beat a bunch of other roided up guys.

Yo, where's the Formula 1 Spygate scandal?
And crash gate
Brady didn't get the upper hand he did better in the 2nd half when the balls where at regulation pressure
Also, what about the point shaving scandal in college basketball?
American sportsmanship at its best .... the quintessential win-at-any-cost attitude.
Especially in the professional realm.
Yeah they learn it in high school ... sometimes even earlier.
Thanks for ruining our school's reputation Sandusky >:(

They've done plenty of sports videos, they just don't do them that often.
2006 Italian football scandal
the melbourne storm deal was a debacle. as interstate outsiders they were made an example of. and after it all went down they won another premiership
No mention of Pete Rose? Really Watchmojo. What the absolute ass?
Thank You Mojo for an actual list that doesn't involve ridiculous video games themes... I would say as honorable mentions lets throw in Tawnya Harding, Pete Rose, and the New York Jets for impersonating an NFL team for 45 years...
Lol is the jets thing making fun of them being terrible 😂

Idc what anybody says Bond is the Goat! You don't hit 73 bombs just with Steroids.
That may be true, but steiroids do make it easier to break records.
Roids definitely do help, no way people randomly just start hitting bombs more than twice as often starting in the early 2000's.

I remember "bloodgate" being a huge thing in English rugby a few years back - surprised that didn't get a slight mention.
Deflate gate was a joke
I reckon the Spanish basketball team at the Paralympics deserves to make the list. As the consequences were horrific. Athletes with an intellectual disability were barred from competing in the Paralympics until Rio 2016. Destroying the dreams of hundreds of athletes.

BEFORE WATCHING THIS, WWE STEROIDS BETTER BE HERE
WHAT THE FRICK
Exactly
Chris Benoit ?
Man you know damn well a lot of those guys use steroids
That's not a sport
Here's a smaller one, it was huge in Australia though. The Essendon football club drug scandal
No football (soccer as some backwards people called it) scandals?
Crashgate literally involved putting people and drivers in danger. Yet some guy deflating a football is a bigger deal.
Tom Brady is a liar.
He insists that he knew nothing about the systemic deflating of the team's footballs, .... for perhaps as many eighteen games.
He had those balls in his hands, repeatedly. In fact, handling footballs is THE major feature of his job-description. There simply is NO WAY he couldn't have known what was going on, none.

if he had any kind of moral backbone, he'd quit and retire from the game altogether.
+Ed Meares so true...
If this was remade surely the Essendon drug scandal would have to be in somewhere!
Hank Aaron is the true home run king, don't care what the "stats" say. Bonds cheated, simple as that.
Tell it...
The TTP are now legal in NRL. Storm won a legitimate premiership 2 year later anyway

How about the SMU Death Penalty? The NCAA shut down the Mustang football program for a year (the school added an additional year), and they have never been able to recover from the aftermath.
We can add Maria Sharapillpopova to this now...LMAO!!
OMG I forgot all about the Spanish Paralympic Scandal! LOL you can't make this shit up.
id add the NASCAR signapore sling scandal just for the absurdity and the 2012 badminton tanking controversy but great tight list
The Essendon ASADA scandal is the biggest Australian sport scandal
