More, more, we want more. Buckdales make over is coming on a treat. I love your advice and films. Can't wait to see it when it's done. Such a lovely railway.
Hi the Buckdale rebuild is looking great. The new platform, retaining walls and scenery behind coming a treat..👍looking forward to seeing the next update...😀
I’m 20 years old but I love your layout style because it reminds me of the old Thomas back from the 80. But I also love because I love the time era you set your track in.please keep up the great work I love watching your layout
Hey there. Great video once more 😉 Really appreciate you including all the nitty gritty detail of what you go through, not just a before & after, which is useless to everyone! FAB JOB, KEEP THEM COMING ! 😁
Love the layout you have created! It is an inspiration for me to create something of my own. Thank you for showing us what you’re doing and how you achieve something and not talk us through it! A picture is worth a thousand words!
A row of cottages sounds perfect. I will look forward to seeing your skills in a future video. Will you use a similar method (Wills sheets) demonstrated for the new station buildings on Ponden?
Excellent stuff as always. Nothing like a bit of raspberry flavoured mouldiness to get the weekend off to a flying start! Looking forward to part 2. And especially the ribbon cutting 😁
Hi, It always makes me happy when one of your videos pops up. Nice build. That’s a very long platform. It seems like urbanization is taking over your small county town. 😂 Thanks for sharing. See ya next time.
A young train spotter would not go amiss on the platform, Lewis. You will then complete the era you are re-creating. I know; that train spotter was me!!
Hello again Lewis. This is looking very promising already and I can't wait to see what this up and coming masterpiece turns out like, I'll have to be patient and wait. Keep up the good work. Another great video as always.
Thanks Christopher! Yes this one might take a little longer, I’ve got the station building to build and then a row of cottages for the back. I better get cracking!
Love watching these videos. Have learnt alot on scenics. The layout is a absolute work of art. Such a shame its tucked away in a attic with only you tubers able to see its splendour. Hope my layout is only a quarter of this one anf I would be happy 😊 😊. 👍👍👍👍
Very useful video! I am particularly impressed with the method you use to create your platforms, the end result is most convincing; I think i shall look into this method for my next layout project. Thanks again for another superb productions; always enjoyable and informative!
Been so looking forward to this. GREAT opening shot by the way. Admire your steady hand plastering the platform surface, I could never have achieved that. Wimped out and used heavy grey card. Nice one Lewis, thanks - Teresa
Thanks Teresa. I’m sure card works a treat. I’m always knocking, spilling and wacking things so at least with plaster the platforms will be really solid.
Foam board is a great thing. I'm using 50mm thick sheets so that I can insulate the noise of rolling stock and sculpt out for rivers and streams. Anything spare I can use to create hills. Videos will come out once I get organised😂
Great way to kick off the weekend with a video from you! The retaining wall with the landscaping along with the platforms have come up really well. Makes me motivated to do something on my layout! Great work as always and another great video. Clint at Leila Central.
Very nice mate, you’ve really don a good job of blending the old and new scenery together there at the back. Can’t wait for the progression of this scene. Cheers Ross.
I know why you are doing this... You just want to have another one of your famous ribbon cuttings!😀 Seriously, it looks really good and I love how you did the background at the same time. It blends so well. I think I will try that too.
Great stuff. I enjoy following the progress on your layout. I just finished some more details to my layout. I think it is pretty much done to be honest. To add anything else or change anything now will just seem like fiddling about to me. I'm just going to enjoy it as is. It turned out better than I could have dreamed it would be anyway. Anyway, keep up the good work buddy and I look forward to the next installment.
Thank you. That’s awesome. After I’ve redone this station I’ll be in the same situation. Other than making more trees that is, that’s a never ending task. Thanks again matey 👍🏻
Hi Lewis, I just love your opening few seconds going through the station. The scenery looks good. Not sure if I could make the platform your way, I will have to see how yours turns out. Barry.Devon.
Thanks Barry. It’s the same method I’ve used for the other station rebuild. I guess using wood instead of foam board would work just as well. Thanks again mate.
Love you approach to making the platforms, can hardly wait for part 2. Your scenery is always first class and natural looking. Cheers Greg PS: Do you like working with plaster cloth ?
Thanks Greg. You know I do actually quite enjoy it, it’s satisfying. In the summer it dries so quickly as well. I’ve used papier-mâché elsewhere but I wanted something a little stronger here. Do you use it?
No I don`t use plaster cloth, but I do something similar. I cut up old sheets into approx. 12 inch squares and dip them in a plaster solution. I think I might be a bit of a cheap skate, but it does the same job. Cheers Greg
Poor old Buckdale, it looks like an atomic bomb went off there ! I'm sure it will reappear in a much better shape, and I look forward to see the progress 😀❤
Nice one, I love the retaining walls. Hopefully the station should look much better too once finished. What station building are you going to have? I'm off to the bodmin and wenford railway next weekend which should be good. Unfortunately they are only running an Austerity but it will be nice to see the line for the first time. I'm also running a titfield Thunderbolt weekend soon. I also started experimenting with stone walls. I used cat litter as you said, but implanted it into clay instead. It looks good when painted and finished with top stones, but it is more time consuming. I'm working on a website for my railway too, I'll send you a link when it's finished. See you next time :)
Thanks matey. I’ll scratch build one I think, something a bit larger than what’s a ponden. Sounds like a nice day out. Speaking of that, the NVR has had to replace the pannier from Llangollen they had on loan with an Austerity. Not sure how I feel about that, they are cool but pretty common. The walls sound great, you should make a video on it! Would love to see the website. Keep it up bud.
Hi Lewis. Another great vid with plenty of interesting tips. Was going to use some old timber for a platform but the foam board looks a lot easier to fashion. May I ask where you got it from and what thickness are the sheets?. Cheers Lewis.
Thanks Dave, I’ll double check the thickness of the sheets and get back to you. 6mm rings a bell though. I stack three on top of each other. The plaster adds a little thickness as well. I got the sheets from my local model shop in Peterborough, but I’m sure you can get the same stuff on eBay/amazon or in a DIY shop
A nice way to start the day with an update from you. Brilliant work as usual. Can I ask what colour paint combination you use for your base coat on the hills as it turns out really well?
fabulous work as ever! but... i wouldn't bother with the crafts PVA from poundland, you get more in the wood PVA bottles for the exact same price. it's extremely cheeky, I'm certain it's the exact same PVA
Brilliant start to the rebuild of Buckdale Lewis, looking forward to the rest of the series! That platform build with foam looks like it is going to be very effective, where did you get the cheap foamboard from please? Cheers Steve
Thank you! I got the foam board from my local model shop in Peterborough. They have a few different sizes and thicknesses. They must have similar stuff on eBay/amazon or craft shops though. Thanks again Steve.
I'm hoping to get my layout started shortly and draw a lot of inspiration from these videos. Anyone got any ideas where to get cheap foamboard here in the UK which would be ideal for station platforms? I've looked on the internet but the number of options are overwhelming!
Just came across a link for part 3 which lead me to part 1. Really enjoying the rebuild. What material are you using to lay over road area in the background? It seems to go on very easily and looks great. I'm doing a hill scene on my railway with foam and would like to give your method a go. Now on to part 2. Thanks for sharing your build. Mal
The channel had that name long before I ever even posted a video, so long in fact I can’t even remember why! I think I just wanted a strange name for it.
More, more, we want more. Buckdales make over is coming on a treat. I love your advice and films. Can't wait to see it when it's done. Such a lovely railway.
Thanks very much Guy :-)

Thanks bud. Im a similarly age to you, but used to watch it when I was a kid as well! Thanks for watching, I will do.
Fascinated to watch how you put it all together. Impressive.
Thanks James, appreciate it.
Hey there.
Great video once more 😉
Really appreciate you including all the nitty gritty detail of what you go through, not just a before & after, which is useless to everyone!
FAB JOB, KEEP THEM COMING ! 😁
Thanks Christof, appreciate it!😀 I will do. Thanks for watching.
Nice work . Looking forward to seeing the completion.
Thanks David.
I could watch that scene building all day.
Thanks Peter :-)
Was thinking the same thing. :)
Love the layout you have created!
It is an inspiration for me to create something of my own.
Thank you for showing us what you’re doing and how you achieve something and not talk us through it!
A picture is worth a thousand words!
Thanks very much, appreciate it. 😀
Your ability to paint the back scene in such a simple but totally effective way is just wonderful. This really is coming on well. Cheers, Bob
Thank you Bob! 👍🏻
Another top draw video Lewis, cant wait to see another transformation come to life
Cheers Carl :-)
The rebuild of Ponden station was amazing - really looking forward to see what you have in mind for Buckdale. Awesome video as always mate. Rich
Thanks very much Rich. I’d like to build a row of cottages along a path/road at the back, that will keep me busy for a little while. Thanks again.
Thank you Andrew. Oh it’s coming, but I’ll be using some considerably larger and sharper tools this time...
Excellent stuff, I just love your platforms, they just come alive with the plaster top, cannot wait for the next video.
Thank you Alex!
Hi, It always makes me happy when one of your videos pops up. Nice build. That’s a very long platform. It seems like urbanization is taking over your small county town. 😂 Thanks for sharing. See ya next time.
Thanks Norman! I think so, they’ll be a few cottages springing up along the back as well. You’ve got to move with the times!
A young train spotter would not go amiss on the platform, Lewis. You will then complete the era you are re-creating. I know; that train spotter was me!!
That’s a great idea Henry. I’ll see it becomes a reality!
Hello again Lewis. This is looking very promising already and I can't wait to see what this up and coming masterpiece turns out like, I'll have to be patient and wait. Keep up the good work. Another great video as always.

Thank you Mark. It’s just as well we have UA-cam to see so many layout nobody would otherwise see! 👍🏻
Looking good so far! Keep up the good work!
Thank you 👍🏻
Managed to capture the grim reality of Yorkshite, great work.
Thanks 💩
Great video & modelling tips.
Thanks David!!
Another cracking build in the making Lewis. Paul
Cheers Paul 👍🏻
Very useful video! I am particularly impressed with the method you use to create your platforms, the end result is most convincing; I think i shall look into this method for my next layout project. Thanks again for another superb productions; always enjoyable and informative!
Thank you, they are certainly a bit more hardy than the cardboard versions!

Nice work on and round the new platform looking really good
Thanks bud
Another great video.G🚂🚂🚂
Thanks Noble G
Amazing work, you always make it look effortless!
Thanks mate!

Thanks very much as always Clint. 👍🏻
You are a busy man Mr Mouldy! Good job its not a heritage railway like mine because with all this rebuilding my railway would be broke!!
Thank you John. I get you on that one, after this I’ve got nothing major in the works.
Very nice mate,
you’ve really don a good job of blending the old and new scenery together there at the back.
Can’t wait for the progression of this scene.
Cheers Ross.
Thanks very much Ross 👍🏻
Hi
Great video, lol you always make it look so easy.
Cheers Paul
Thank you Paul. That’s the editing I reckon!
The best ! 😎........ Fred
Thank you Fred!
I know why you are doing this... You just want to have another one of your famous ribbon cuttings!😀
Seriously, it looks really good and I love how you did the background at the same time. It blends so well. I think I will try that too.
There is no way I’m getting caught out again, I’m going to be prepared this time! Thanks matey.
good as always
Thanks Kerry!
Really good job, well done
Thanks bud

The plaster on the platform looked to go on more smoothly this time. The upgrade is going well
Thank you. I remember to use plenty of water this time!
Hi Lewis, I just love your opening few seconds going through the station. The scenery looks good. Not sure if I could make the platform your way, I will have to see how yours turns out.

Super.

Wow
Thanks!
Poor old Buckdale, it looks like an atomic bomb went off there ! I'm sure it will reappear in a much better shape, and I look forward to see the progress 😀❤
Ha it does! Yes, once the platform is painted and the signs, benches etc are back in place some normality can return!

Thanks matey. I think it’s a yellow ochre, Sap green, and a burnt umber brown. They are the £3 acrylic tubes you get from the Range.
fabulous work as ever! but... i wouldn't bother with the crafts PVA from poundland, you get more in the wood PVA bottles for the exact same price. it's extremely cheeky, I'm certain it's the exact same PVA
Thank bud. That is the definition of cheeky! Thanks for the heads up, wood PVA is it next time!
👍
👍🏻
Brilliant start to the rebuild of Buckdale Lewis, looking forward to the rest of the series! That platform build with foam looks like it is going to be very effective, where did you get the cheap foamboard from please?

Thank you, glad you find them useful! Have you got a local model shop close to you? That’s where I get mine.
Mal
Thanks Mal. That’s plaster bandage - it does work very well. Thanks for watching mate, good luck with your build.
Do you use the plaster bandages at all? (Im a total novice)
Yes I do use plaster bandage. Sometimes I’ll use paper maché but if a little more strength is required plaster bandage is the way to go. Very useful.
How did you pick the name moldy raspberry?
The channel had that name long before I ever even posted a video, so long in fact I can’t even remember why! I think I just wanted a strange name for it.
