No they don't get paid. This this is their hobby and they do fundraisers and things to help raise money to help pay for airfare and hotel rooms and things like that when they go to compete, which is held in a different area every year. As you can see it takes a lot of dedication to learn all the choreography without sacrificing the quality of the sound. Not to mention this is all done without the help of instruments to help with their rhythm!
I know this, I sang Mid-Atlantic District, never got to International, but my Chorus made District every year, and that was a rush. We had an Annual Fundraiser Weekend show(for the CHapter)unlike ANY OTHER!!!
Barbershop is not for the timid. I'm serious. The standards are high and unyieldingly maintained. In order to marshal and organize men requires a military level work ethic and dedication. They're not doing it for money (I can promise you that) but the clout and prestige are considerable and one-of-a-kind. I have no evidence but Ambassadors of Harmony members get cut easily. If their voice doesn't stay sharp or they get prima donna-like, uncooperative or misbehave they are suspended or cut. Plenty of hopefuls willing to take their place. They have to audition to get back in and it's not easy. It has to be this way. We; the audience, have a high expectation when it comes to Barbershop and they meet that expectation. Very honorable and yet humble gentlemen, they are.
You can tell how they feel the music by how their movements are involuntarily synchronised. It feels like a mass Barbershop rather than a 100+ man choir. I am very impressed by their unison.
Had to audition. A ton of hard work and practice for Internationals. We all had a common goal and dream, not to win gold but change people's lives with our song set.
That chord progression was breathtaking, brought goosebumps and a tear every time I heard it!! They infuse their performances with such emotion it just holds you spellbound especially when you see it live. There is nothing to compare to it!!
Doesn't really get much better than this...FLAWLESS! Textbook. Dr. Jim Henry is a musical genius, and perhaps one of the greatest barbershoppers of all time!
We still do that, Richard. Come to any of our rehearsals and you'll see dozens of groups of four before and after the rehearsal (and also during the "break"!!) -- some serious, some just for fun, mostly pickup quartets singing just for the love of it, as you say. - BUT - we ALSO get to do THIS ! (above) -- You CAN have it both ways!
whooaaah! The second song takes the cake, and the first song was GREAT. They must have rehearsed the second song for more than ... a coffee break haha! I'm kind of knocked out of my socks. Thanks for the peek into a world I don't know much about, but probably should!!!
You're right - it's one of the risks you take when you want to put together an epic like this. It's something that AOH works hard on in rehearsal, but sometimes the excitement of the contest stage kicks you into overdrive and you start to run out of steam anyway. For what it's worth, it was NOT a problem when they sang the set again on Saturday night. Crisp, pristine, flawless from start to finish.
So full and rich sounding, I’m obsessed with long beautiful harmonies, and also when someone nails double tracking or triple tracking or whatever tracking on a song it’s amazing...I’m not much of a singer so I just cheat and use my vocal setting on my synth I love it
i really love how they switch emphasis on voice parts. as a bass II i often get put on the bass line and just lay down the underlying stuff. Very nice. -Clint
I can confirm this. When they performed it the second time, I was on the far right part of the Rose Garden, and you can easily see the stunt double. Still, the first time around, it's pulled off excellently and you can't tell the difference.
Wonderful men of christ keep it up , I wish to invite you to my country Kenya to share the beautiful voices with my Uncles choir (P.C.M.F) in Nairobi, Dont worry about your stay there everything will be taken care of apart from your Air tickets. thanks alot and my God bless you as you glorify him
Of course, Wright sets an incredibly high bar with his arrangements, so saying that this isn't his best is like saying "sure, the Adoration is good, but it's no Mona Lisa."
I felt the song was a great song, not an EPIC song, but it was championship form nonetheless. But what they do on that stage is just as much apart of this competition and they killed it. AMAZING performance!!
Hahaha that was definitely NOT Fred. I've been waiting since I heard this song at international for you to put it on BSH38. Thank you. God that chord progression in the tag of No Other Love was great, but hearing it live, well, there is no comparison. I just wish we could put the live performance as pristine as it was on here.
It was amazing live! And no it wasn't Fred haha :) I was up above the stage and you could see the other guy run out and back in while Fred stood off to the side. Still pretty incredible :)
The video discription notes cameos by Vocal Spectrum, Crossroads, FRED, and Angry Birds. It's obvious where the cameos for VS, Crossroads and Angry Birds are, but I'm missing FRED.
The original poster credited FRED (the quartet) when the chorus was actually referring to Fred Farrell, the tenor in Crossroads (who they coaxed to do the tumble - with a capable stunt double!)

Not to mention all their costumes!
Bull shit I love music
Rene Castellanos shut the fuck UP and enjoy the music if not then y are you here
Fuck off, troll.

They look like a coral reef swaying with the waves... beautiful.

Me needs to hear it again !!!
I am so honored to sing with this wonderful chorus.
I am honored to have see your chorus at 2015 and 2016. I sang with great lakes of the pioneer district
it's amazing how a group of around 100 guys can perform such a variety of dynamics .. such great softs .. such powerful crescendos .. etc
I counted 124 men ...

even there breathing is perfectly in sync
As it should be.
I'm a veteran of the Society, and when you get to serious competition, it is NOT Easy!!

Being part of that performance I can tell you that our souls were pouring out on that stage. I appreciate your comment.
Andy Huff How did you get involved with something like that? I'd love to sing in harmony like that.
Had to audition. A ton of hard work and practice for Internationals. We all had a common goal and dream, not to win gold but change people's lives with our song set.
@@badandy713 are you still involved in the choir?
@@b33p I have been off and on since 2012.
That ballad - WOW! Could listen to that all day. Blend, balance, emotion, range, artistry. Brilliant!
Amazing
Still my absolute favorite!!
Listening to Chopin Études this morning -- very surprised to hear "No Other Love"! I didn't realize it was a piano étude!
Totally blew me away!
That chord progression was breathtaking, brought goosebumps and a tear every time I heard it!! They infuse their performances with such emotion it just holds you spellbound especially when you see it live. There is nothing to compare to it!!
That was fantastic !!!
Like a well oiled machine !!!
The build up starting at 4:20 and going until the end of the song is sooo good!!
Loved the 2009 '76 Trombones' performance more but this was so entertaining!
That was the most impressive ride
that I've been on.., in a long time .
Truly, a genius Master piece !!
😳🤯😳😊😁👍
this is amazing
Amazing.
Talk about a fantastic busy bustle ! That was the most indescribably fantastic show that I have ever seen !
Doesn't really get much better than this...FLAWLESS! Textbook. Dr. Jim Henry is a musical genius, and perhaps one of the greatest barbershoppers of all time!
...precise, poetic, pristine...well done Ambassadors....well done, your hard work paid off...bask in the sun...
Stunning

love this ballad. the sound did not flatline the whole way through. And those soft chords were awesome to listen to. great job guys!
barbershop singing is one of the rare artforms which inspires such perfection and standard of excellence in amateur groups.
Hi
Beautiful! Well done gentlemen! Thank you for sharing this on UA-cam, so everyone can enjoy it
Wow.....The absolute best. The power and beauty of this huge choir is incredible!
Great performance by a great bunch of guys. Ambassadors has set the mark high.
Jim Henry is so awesome!!!
Tons of Fun!
Excellent tightness of harmony!

Unbelievable!!!
saw this today in Alkmaar, The Netherlands, and had to cry and to smile: so beautiful!!
Thank you for letting me share this. Emma
Wow wow !!!! Outstanding 😊💕😊
it's so great it almost sounds unreal.
How in the world you keep time and Chorus with that many people,
is waaaay...beyond me ...!
AMAZING
They killed it!!!!

Awesome!!!!!! My mind was blown when Vocal Spectrum and Crossroads showed up!!! :D

Of all the great performances of the AOH, my favorite is the beautiful rendition here of "No Other Love"!
EVEN FRED CAN STEP IN TIME I SAW IT
Beautiful performance!
I could watch this video every day and never get tired of it! ♥
Love this! childhood memories
Oh heck yes! I have this tune in my mind while I'm working. Superb job!!!
i really love how they switch emphasis on voice parts. as a bass II i often get put on the bass line and just lay down the underlying stuff. Very nice.

WOW! Super performance!!!
Hermoso ¡¡¡¡
Yep. It's as much fun this time as it was live. Though how they managed to get Fred to do the backflips can only be described as a miracle.
beautiful!!! :)
Exquisite!!
This is the best part of the whole set. Goosebumps every time!
Outstanding, Bravo!!!!!!

Just wow. This completely blew me away. It left me in tears.
WOW WOW WOW WOW Just Plain WOW!!! Mind Blowing!!
This comes close to the 2009 performance. The musicality may be even better.
Mas que coro tão interessante e original!
Sem dúvida um BONITO ESPECTÁCULO!!!
Obrigada amiga Alice Castilho pela sua presença!
Beijinho e tenha um óptimo dia!
Love !!!!!💕😊💕😊
Inspirational!!!!! Thank you guys for the hard work, you put a giant smiley face on the world of music!
Forever SO glad I can say I was there!! What a superb aim at absolute perfection. Keep it up guys!
I finally got a chance to go to an international. The videos don't do half the justice of what actually went down.
I can confirm this. When they performed it the second time, I was on the far right part of the Rose Garden, and you can easily see the stunt double. Still, the first time around, it's pulled off excellently and you can't tell the difference.
Of course, everybody knew this was a stunt double!
And they basically have 3 of the best quartets in the world within.
LOVE
I met someone from this a Capella group, I don't remember his last name, but his first name is Adam. He also works at Great Circle schools.
This was a truly great performance by an awesome group. Bravo!

Chopin`s Tristesse given new life! Interesting.

Step in Time was absurd and chaotic and i love it
bravoooo guys....
YES!!!
I wonder how that went...
"...You get to be in a play this year...!
...there's going to be some memorizing though...."
These guys?.............they are the music themselves. I love you guys.

got a brother in this chorus. They've come a long way baby.
I'm 100% positive, his name is on my sheet music. That may be but the man is a genius.
ITS QUEEN!
Wish I could do that!

Long live the SPEBSQSA
One day I am going to go to America and go to one of these competitions and have a great fucking time.
VM's great! AOH is great too. I can't wait to hear the VM again! but I prefer the sound of AOH. And there's nothing wrong with that.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure if I was missing something or not.
