Thanks for sharing these beautiful scenes. Living in Minnesota where we have sub-freezing temps for the most part, i feel kind of jealous. I am sorry for the difficulties you face, but these do not apply to most travelers. The main reason that you faced this is likely that you had advanced cameras and were not a licensed reporter. They are particularly sensitive with any kind of undercover reporters. So that clearly does not apply to most travelers. I have grown up in Egypt, but lived in the US for the past 6 years and can say with no doubt that i feel safer in Cairo than most cities I have lived in in the US. Egypt has so many amazing sites to visit, so I would still recommend it to most tourists but do recommended being cautious and following the rules of the land.

Thanks for your video. I am an Egyptian and I know Cairo can get overwhelming. But as any other place in the world you have to know the country’s rules before visiting that will definitely make your trip easier. I wouldn’t recommend a lot of places that you’ve been to to any of my foreigner friends. There are more touristic places and tour groups that will make any travelers life much easier. There are also a lot of nice restaurants such as 9 pyramid lounge, that are more skilled at dealing with tourists. I always recommend 2 days in Cairo and the rest on Egypt’s beautiful beaches and in Luxor and Aswan. Please do let us know your opinion when you visit them. Also please feel free to reach out for any tips on how to get around better in Cairo if you wish to visit again.

I travelled to Cairo and Luxor with family including my two children October 2019 (before the pandemic). I think your problems clearly arose from the fact that you are professional film makers. I had no problems whatsoever with camera gear (I had a pro 50-140 lens with me and a Fuji mirror less system plus a GoPro). Yes it’s not an easy country to travel in but we had an amazing time including taking a train to Luxor and ubers to the southern pyramids off the beaten track. At 19:02 If a solo female want to visit Egypt she has to take some precautions to be safe. First clothing is the most important thing as it is the thing that give the attraction so any shirt must have no opening in the neck and breast area also any trouser must cover the whole leg and of course shirt must cover the back and the belly wear appropriate clothes. The second thing that you avoid walking alone in very empty or very crowded places and don’t use public transportation and use Uber. Finally you can watch videos for solo females travel to Egypt like Travellight

@Badr Elbadrawy well, i hate to break it to you, but it does include me. Cause guess what? Harassment doesn't happen to tourists only! And the comment is public so i can reply to whatever I want and say whatever on my mind, so chill fam don't be that pressed. And as I said before, harassment happens everywhere so if you advised a female to not travel alone to Egypt, then she shouldn't travel alone anywhere else in the world! So this theory is wrong, literally A LOT of female solo travellers visit Egypt every year and nothing happens to them, if someone faced harassment then it's a minority and can happen anywhere else. Our American tour guide had some residual issues from his previous visit a year earlier that caused concern at the beginning of our trip. I wanted to have my big camera out filming different activities, but only felt comfortable discretely holding my GoPro. I didn't want to deal with all of the badgering from vendors, or get questioned by authorities. Their law is whatever they decide. You know in egypt we are under military dictatorship since 2013 that is the reason that they took all your photographing material because of Xenophobia many foreigners killed in egypt by national security or intelligence service for example the italian student" julio reginy " using your camera in the street may be a reason to sent you to the prison egypt now is a big prison and terrible place to live in you want my advice try other arab countries like morocco or tunisia or jordan they are much safer and they dont have the Security obsession that you found in egypt from the moment you arrived in the air port

Egypt was the country where I was treated the worst as a tourist. Actual harassment from taxi drivers, vendors and even guides. It's obvious you are not welcome there, only your money is :)
And I travel alone. To me that is travelling, or at least the main part of it. I don't care about people who travelled there with organized tours or with Egyptian friends... those are just workarounds to an obvious problem.

On behalf of all egyptians I apologize for all obstacles and impediments you faced. Regarding confiscation of your photography kit, such measures take place as egypt is a politically sensitive country and due to security issues in egypt, high magnification lesnses and drones are prohibited in egyptian market and its utilize in all forms is also strictly prohibited. But such issue must be demonstrated to you by the authorities instead of doing such measures with no consideration to you as a tourist. But, i think that you can get special permissions from specialized authorities so you can use drones and lenses as you like. Regarding harassments, even we egyptians suffer from such acts and it only represents scums of society not all egyptians. Again Im really sorry for what you came up against in egypt and I hope next times will be flawless. For any help or inquiries please don’t hesitate to ask me and i will be glad to assist you anytime.

Egypt has strict rules about videography in their country. You're conducting business by making videos yet entered on a tourist visa? Don't blame Egypt. They're not "giving you problems" (your words - not mine). You didn't follow the rules. That's your fault.

I noticed that the customs at Cairo Airport are stealing quite a bit of stuff, and they are often selling it on the black marked of Cairo, so you might buy your equiptment back there.

They don’t steal it. Drones are not allowed in many countries. You have to know that if you travel often and respect the country’s rules.
