Dean Shaw Acting is about conveying emotion and being able to portray the character to the audience. No amount of editing can recreate that effect. Eric Cartman for example can still convingly sound angry, excited, sad etc and Trey Parker has great comedic timing. Besides, the South park voices are supposed to sound fake for comedic effect and because it makes the voice distinct. Trey still has very good range being able to voice multiple different characters effectively and only a few of them are voice manipulated. Editing doesn't mean the actor isn't talented, multiple techniques are used in the media industry to create a specific tone and style and for South park it works.
