😍 Wow love a pro bike and this is one of the coolest out there. Nice to see Van Der Poel is still happy with traditional 2x. Interesting that the new Dura Ace rear mech is stiffer and keeps the chain under tension better. Would be interested to see if any riders have Ultegra RX rear mech. A super cool bike but surprised that was just a medium frame! More Cross bikes please! 🚲
such a hot whip! more cx pro bikes please!!!
Durruti Column in the soundtrack. Classy.
The more words they add like Cf ,xl ,super duper , carbon , di2 the more I will go into debt
HAHAHAHHAHA
Hahahaha😂
You a little idot
Hahahha agree
I think the bottle cage is at the seat tube because shouldering the bike is sometimes necessary in cyclocross, and otherwise the botrtle cage might interfere with that.
Hopefully we'll get to see rainbow-coloured Canyon soon!
Thank you for the details
Who else is catching up on all the Mathieu Van Der Poel videos? :- D
Why?
Bottle cage is probably on the seat tube for easier shouldering, not aero
Bike number 5! I'm giving it a 'super cool' with extra cowbell
What a bike!!!!
Nice one Cyril, nice one son,
Autumn's here!
So nice
thats huge for a medium frame
It has a big space so he can carry it easily
Yup. if you take a look in Canyon's website, the size M of this bike is suitable for 178-184 cm height. While size S goes for 172-178 cm. It's perhaps the first time I realize literally how small I am.
that is a LARGE frame size (not medium, as that guy is saying).
also, look at the head tube length, that's 168 mm, as size L is having (not 146 mm, as size M is having).
@fabi yup, it could be huge, but that's what he is riding (some write he is 1.87 m, i don't know). the current bike is very very close to 10 mm longer reach than the Stevens size 58 he used previously. subsequently now he rides 110 mm stem length while he used 120 mm previously. so, all in all he is having very close to same bike fit he used to, same handlebars reach.
I believe he rides a large frame instead of a medium. Since he has his saddle pretty much all the way forward and "only" a 11cm stem, a reach of 60cm seems a bit too much for a medium sized frame?
Canyon has North European Size Chart.
I think your right I ride a medium inflite at 5-11(180.3cm). I have my saddle at the 5cm mark on the post and his is at the 4cm mark. His saddle height is 79.5cm. Mines at about 77.5cm (roughly measured)
Yea I think it is size large or maybe xl...And imposibble for MVDP to use 11cm stem...I think he don’t sizing down and using ‘normal’ stem length.
Or maybe anyone except Ridley Rider now using shorter stem length?
that is a LARGE frame size (not medium, as that guy is saying).

This looks super fast and modern, like an F1 chassis
What a relief it is to have Jon back providing my bike porn! Lovely bike with a proper happy ending (freehub sound check, baby!).
Were can I find the Dura - ace 46 chainring?????
Great
I miss Jon! T-T
Dugast Typhoon, their “medium/ all round” tyre
New model with sidewall treatment done at the factory?
VDP-Forever!!!!
How much do you measure and what size is the bike?
Im 1.82 and i use a large frame, medium is just too small for me too tight doesnt allow me to stretch and doesnt give me a handling leverage nearly as good as a large size
medium frame is a 56 cm for canyon
seat tube bottle more aerodynamic than downtube? what? Surely he's put it there to carry it easier?
It's on the seat tube because you need the extra space above the down tube to get your arm into while shouldering the bike.
It's. Kylie in gold hot pants. Stockings and not tights, it's the headlight cluster from an old Mercedes staff car. It's just right.
no one bothering about size chart in S M L?where is old but gold traditional measuring system?
that is a LARGE frame size (not medium, as that guy is saying).

First love your content
Get me a bike lmao
Just kidding love the contents
What does "not very much lubricant" mean exactly? I'll go ahead and guess he's not using ultra dry wax. Is it just less wet lube or what? Screw hub noises, we have to know the specifically preferred lubricant of each rider. Even if some of them are required to pick something the sponsor is pushing.
Just Cool
Is this right that size is M?
Those whitewalls are sicker than a bad case of polio. So ill. Edit: I guess they're sorta tan but whatever
46/39 11-28 😲
didnt mention the number 5 John
0:49 GREG00R
I got the feeling that this was only a demo bike for use in videos just like this and that it's never actually ridden/raced.
I can fart louder than that freehub.
Great bike of an even greater rider but I really hate the shape of the top tube.
It looks terrible but is awesome to pic up and carry...
is for stability
It looks to me that frame is a bit big for you
Another GCN cursed bike if you know what happened
The tyres look like Dugust Typhoon
You made my blunder in the bike shop, because of your pronounciation of mathieu's name. You always say Van der Pool what is a common name in the netherlands but his name is van der poel
The gearing is just ridiculous. 46/39 teeth chainrings and 11-28 teeth cassette. The slowest speed you can go with that at 90rpm cadence is 16.3km/h. In the mud. Uphill.
Max speed with the 46 teeth chainring at 110rpm cadence is 59.9km/h by the way. Do they ever reach such speeds in professional Cylocross races? To me the gearing seems way too hard, but I guess they should know what’s right for them … Maybe it is because they seem to ride out of the saddle a lot.
I think you're looking at it from a road cadence perspective. There not doing long climbs. CX is explosive, interval racing, and i think they'd be changing gear all the time if they'd had closer gearing ratio's like you suggest
Well, the guy almost never loses
Most bikes come with too high gearing
Too slow speed in the mud and you would stall, all or nothing, if you cannot ride it-run it!
Michael K - good point, a 36 would be normal.
11cm stem? Really? I think that is a ‘short’ stem for elite CX racer...and 41cm handlebar? That is narrow!
Or MVDP not sizing down his frame size? The shortest stem length on every elite CX racer I know from pro bike check website article and GCN video is 12cm.
And medium frame for a big man like MVDP is too small!
that is a LARGE frame size (not medium, as that guy is saying).
it is very well for him to use 110 m stem since his current bike is about 10 mm longer in reach than the previous one (Stevens, size 58) and he used 120 mm stem before. so now, with that 110 mm stem, with that L size frame, he is having similar bars reach as he is used to.
about bars, as i know, Canyon does that stem-bars-combo in 39, 41, 43 cm width. Mathieu used 42 cm in the past, so it's quite probably that now he chose 41 instead of 43. (they should have shown us what is written on that stem, on the left side, near the fork steerer, all the numbers are there - width, length, reach, drop)
Medium frame? 184cm rider =
Large frame surely...
should I get an XL with 189?
Hey check out Michael Vanthourenhout his bike plz
he is using a LARGE frame size (not medium, as you say). do your home work, PLEASE.

also, look at the head tube length, that's 168 mm, as size L is having (not 146 mm, as size M is having).
Weather looks Flemish.
when you have such stem-bar combo, with ALL THE NUMBERS written (width, length, reach, drop - on the left side of the stem, near the fork steerer), just show as that thingy... be real journalists, be pro... (cause here is TECH... numbers, you know...)
I think it's sinfully ugly, but that's me.
NO, why?
The eu theme makes me want to throw up.. EU is not Europa.
