NeoCrimson is an interesting Digimon as it takes a bunch of concepts that would later appear across Digimon media: DNA Digivolution was one of them that whilst had been already established for Omnimon it was still new. The other one was Biomerge (Crimson being used to become part of NeoCrimson) which would not be truly realised until Digimon Tamers, The biggest problem with NeoCrimson really was the fight itself. It's too bad the devs didn't actually give him any decent moves that would've made the boss fight good. Especially for a creature that had a really cool design it's a shame that the fight itself didn't live up to expectations. At least the Digimon Rumble Arena Fangame that has/was being developed has NeoCrimson and the Chaos Generals as a boss fight and in that game, NeoCrimson is extremely powerful.
I've done a lot of research on how "power tiers" work in the series. Generally speaking, mega (ultimate) is the highest tier possible naturally. But there's a tier after, referred to as "super ultimate" which usually occurs only by unnatural tampering with a digimon, usually via humans altering their code, jogressing with another powerful digimon, use of a digimental or addition of a program. Humans are broken due to the relationship digimon have with them: the pursuit of a digimon is to become more human, and they get stronger the closer they get. This is why biomerging makes megas, because that digimon absorbs all the growth potential of their partner. That said, 4 altered mega level digimon jogressing and then also biomerging with a human? Easily, fits into the Super Ultimate category. Hell in the recent movie, a human biomerges with their artificial digimon and that makes it go superultimate as well. The precedent is there.
The Ultra level is a very weird one. At least for me,every single special form of a Mega Digimon should it be an Ultra Digimon,like Dukemon Crimson Mode or the Burst Version of the Data Squad team,because they have in one way or another they surpassed the level Mega...but only a few Digimon like Chronomon HM, Susanoomon or Lucemon SM are Ultra. Despise the fact that Chronomon HM,DM and Lucemon SM should it be Megas because they evolve from a Perfect Digimon.
1:03 Not to mention that the animes, the films, and all the games frequently reference events from one another and, especially with Ryo in the WonderSwan games, Digimon Adventure and Digimon Tamers, have been explicitly stated as being part of a canon multiverse that spans multiple pairs of Analog and Digital World Servers all connected by the same Network (Internet) and Dark Ocean.
I find the image of NeoCrimson facing against Zekrom to be fitting, their ideals clash literally. Of course the pitch black dragon of ideals would be striking such a rotten idea down.

NeoCrimson is definitely an underdeveloped character. It would be great as a cameo in another game or series. This would connect it to the DW2 universe somehow - which I've always felt would be such a great game remastered. As for NCrimson's components, I like how you compared it to Deltamon. As powerful as it is, no one can prove that it is truly greater than the sum of its parts. It was disappointingly weak in DW2, but the explanation that its parts could have been in conflict with each other makes a lot of sense. Perhaps if we look at NCrimson's power as a spectrum, it would be easier to understand where it stands as far as power scaling is concerned. For example, as a fresh digimon, it would still be struggling to reconcile its parts to work in union. With experience, its power could be at ultra or super mega level.
I would argue that the reason why Neo Crimson is disappointingly weak in Digimon World 2 has much more to do with the way the digivolution system in the game was implemented than anything else: not only does dna digivoluting in that game increase your DP (which influences what your Digimon digivolves into), but it also gives your Digimon access to any of the techniques that the previous Digimon you're combining to create it learned. This whole process can be repeated as many times as desired, and there is no limitation on what Digimon can learn what move, other than not being able to learn and use the techniques of a Digimon that is a higher level than it is currently; this effectively means that you can have just about any techniques you want regarding of which Digimon you raise, provided you're willing to put in the effort to do so. That said, there are a couple of other factors at play that made Neo Crimson easier than he arguably otherwise should've been for a boss you battle so late into the story, the first of which being that you get to fight him with 3 Digimon against just one singular enemy. This, coupled with the ability to learn new techniques from whichever other Digimon you prefer (as detailed above), as well as an additional detail I didn't mention there, that being that your Digimon's stats are also increased by doing so, both of which result in your Digimon becoming gradually more and more powerful as you progress further into the game. The second factor that can potentially play into making Neo Crimson more of a pushover is that his own signature attack, blind attack, can sometimes cause him to attack himself, which means you need to deal that much less damage to defeat him. All of this being said, it's also worth noting that Chaos Lord was said to be the strongest Digimon when you fight him, and not only does he become part of Neo Crimson, but he's also similarly easy to defeat at this point in the game for more or less the same reasons (minus the attack that can backfire against him randomly). With that knowledge in mind, I believe that we're talking about a case of gameplay and story segregation: that is to say, Neo Crimson is probably actually extremely powerful canonically, but couldn't be made to be quite on that level of strength so as to not make fighting him unfair. Chaos Lord and whichever guardian you fight after beating Neo Crimson are also easy fights at this point in the game, despite being stated to be extremely powerful. It's also for this reason why it's partially justified to believe that Neo Crimson didn't live up to his full potential: he could very well have easily been as powerful as we'd expect such a being to be, but in an effort to make the game not feel unfair couldn't be allowed to show the full extent of his power. It could also very well partly be that aside from Crimson, the other components were the Chaos Generals and Chaos Lord, with emphasis on chaos: having so much data of beings of chaos, especially ones that are as powerful as they are implied to be, could've been far too much for Crimson (of whom i assume is primarily in control of this fusion) to be able to handle without losing his mind, and by extension, control of his newfound power, thus preventing him from using it to it's fullest

It was only bad since we had to go back to the initial level for a Digimon (1,11,21) and there was no EXP boost and fighting was the only way to level up(since the battle system is so shite that you have to find fights to Level up even with all the EXP chips you cheated) It was how the battle system itself was poorly designed. HP limiy being 999 was making any fights easier since reaching Mega and going past even 35 with just DP5 can easily melt bosses before Turn 9 and thats without Duo Scissor Claw. Even the final boss doesnt take 15 mins to beat without DSC with just Tomawahk Crunch, Gigacannon and Gigafire Second was how shitty any fights past mid game with how sacky any of the enemy Tamer Digimon's tech. They dont have much variety to make them a threat aside from Confusion and Motivation Down while DSC was just easy to take down the bosses first before it stacks. Why Neocrimson and Overlord Gaia fights were too easy even without cheesing the game.
But before i watch the video heres my take on first looks ill say this is a agumon who went the metal digimon family route after going into metal greymon then after defeating a (no lie brain fart moment i forget that digimons name on its back) but taking its dna which allows it to still go into war greymon but a different variant. Ie more metal than dramon slayer type route. Maybe a agumon who was raise in the metal emporers lands to become more attack and defense based (equal in both attack and def data).
It's my headcanon at least that humanity is incredibly broken in the Digital World because of the fact that we have thought that is separate from our bodies, so while Digimon consist of one type of data, that's also the program they use to think, whereas humans have a ton of data stored as DNA in their cells, and also possess a consciousness apart from that, which is also dependent on those cells to exist (or not, depending on which hypothesis of cognition turns out to be correct.) We know that fusing Digimon to human DNA powers them up, as we see with Mummymon and Arukenimon in the series, so clearly it's not just the thought that matters.

I worry that Neo Crimson lacking the "mon" suffix means it's unlikely to get recognition as a true Digimon. Thankfully there have been many obscure Digimon to make comebacks in recent years thanks to the anime, card game and ancillary media. So hopefully the probability of seeing Neo Crimson again isn't 0%.
