Hey want to thank you Mellon!! If I had not found your videos through the randomness that is the UA-cam algorithm, I never would have found out about AmeriCorps NCCC. I just got accepted into the Summer 21 program and I can’t wait!
@@mikaulapaymellen6679 Just wanted to say thank you again. I had one of the hardest, most amazing, most fulfilling years of my life though NCCC because I found this vlog! You no joke probably changed my life, so from the bottom of heart, thank you for making this vlog! Quick side note I have no idea how you had the time to produce this vlog. Our CRR struggled with getting enough photos for our debrief sometimes.
@@MichiganMitten39 Thank you for the support. It's nice to hear that I made somewhat of an impact. The videos and vlog was honestly a team effort. I'd straight harass my team members for videos each work and they were happy to do it. It was my saving grace as well to keep these videos going. Even nicer that the comments have become a place for other NCCC people to talk! So thank you as well for watching my videos!
@@mikaulapaymellen6679 thanks! Im curious if you still stay in touch with your team still? If you do, any tips that have helped you stay in touch with people you didn’t think you would stay in touch with.
This is a cool vid. I was station in vinton class 19 vicksburg class 20 and Baltimore when there use to be a campus there in class 22. All of the 3 years I did I really enjoyed and do miss the old amerilife days
Heyyy im in the southern region, about to graduate november 22nd and we are the campus with the pool, but to be honest the pool is closed most of the time so you arent missing much!! We also only cook dinners as a team.
So according the the Americorps website, if you apply during a certain months during the year means that you can only get assigned to a certain region. Fall Apply During: March 1- June 30 Serve: Oct- July Denver, CO; Sacramento, CA Winter* Apply During: July 1- Oct 31 Serve: Feb- Nov Vinton, IA Summer Apply During: Dec 1- March 31 Serve: July- April Denver, CO; Vicksburg, MS; Vinton, IA Is this true?? Thanks in advance :)
So during your program, will you be moving to different regions or are you placed at a certain region and serve there for your whole program? I'm thinking of applying c:
You normally stay within your region. It is possible to be deployed outside of it if any natural disaster occur or they need alot of support somewhere.
Does the NCCC FEMA Provide 2mmr/Tetanus Vaccinations and Immunizations for People Who Don’t Have Any Proof When They Arrive to Sacramento California or Did You Have to Pay Out of Pocket to Get the Vaccinations Before You Arrived to Campus?
Tell you the truth. I served pre covid so I'm not sure of the regulations currently. There is a hotline that you can call and they are very helpful. I'm sure they can answer your questions. I called them alot before my term started.

Reminds me of job corp
I'm in Americorps right now. But we are just about graduate in November 21. We only cook dinner with our team. I'm in the North Central region.
That's so weird. Every region is different I think. I'm not sure because I've only been in this region.
Ya we normally do dinner but we can cook our own breakfast and pack our own lunches separately.
@@mikaulapaymellen6679 we did the same thing. North Central region has the pool. It's big enough to do laps in.
I was stationed in lowa and Perry point

@@corpmemberncccace2402 YES! Most of the work is hard physical labor. They also require you to do some type of work out three times a week.

What did you use to record your experience?
my phone. I'm lazy af lowkey
What did you end up doing after Americorps? Did your experience open opportunities for you to apply for Federal employment?
The job does open an array of other federal jobs but I did look into anymore.
I was on Gold 5 , we got disbanded this year lmao
That is so freaking SAD. Are you still in Americorps on a different team?
Gold 5 is no longer alive
