  • Good afternoon, friends and families! We hope you are doing well on this bright and sunny Wednesday!
Quick FYI - Both Spike & Heidi are doing great! Spike is recovering nicely as newly retired Grandpa Spike, and Heidi has perked up a lot; she's eating and playing with all of her friends again, and her smile is back.
We are continuing to monitor the kittens' daily weights. Everyone's birth weights were great - between 84 and 122 grams. Their weight checks have all been great. The kittens are strong - they are growing fast and getting cuter by the day. We are probably going to keep about half of the kittens for our farm, and home the remaining kittens with families.
On the dog side of the farm, Robin and Macchiato are continuing their date nights. Right now they are still just courting each other. Macchiato is strutting his stuff trying to prove to her that he is the finest specimen for her next litter. She is accepting of his advances, and things are moving along as we would expect. She should be ready to mate in the next couple of days. They will then spend a few days mating, and then we will be able to project a due date.

Welcome to the Red Barn Cavaliers family home! We specialize in raising Emotional Support Animals. This livestream is with our cats who recently had their (only) litters of kittens on 6/24/24. These kittens are newborns so we are keeping an eye on them and monitoring their daily weights. They were all born very healthy and at good weights. Both mamas are treating the two litters like one giant family! They are doing a great job taking care of them.
We primarily raise Cavalier King Charles Spaniels with an emphasis on their emotional-social development. We raise our puppies for the distinct purpose of becoming ESAs. This breed's temperament is ripe for therapeutic bonding, and their ability to tune into their handler's emotional needs can't compare to any other breed. We are anticipating our next litter to be from Robin and Macchiato toward the end of August/early September. We livestream the deliveries of our litters, which you'll find in playlists.

Cutie and Mona are in such bliss. So sweet how they cuddle and have their litters together.
Most of my cats have been purebred so there's no guessing short or long hair.
The long strands of fur are "guard hairs" and the stubby furs will be undercoat.
At the shelter (volunteer) the "rule" we use is to look at the underside of the paws. If there is longer fur sticking out between the toe beans they will be long hair. The white and orange kitten (I think a boy) with the crazy long guard hairs will be long-haired because shorthairs don't have guard hairs (very scientific).
An ear tuft is the fur patch that is at the top of the ear. Look at Maine Coon Cats - they have prominent ear Tufts. Other breeds like Persians have rounded ear tips and no Tufts. A lynx (the wild cat) has ear Tufts.
You might have to get Pandora some Beanie Babies for kittens so she's not left out.

Oh, my G, I love the way they sleep together, and they hug each other. Is it normal for cats to be that way??
Also, at one point, I thought they were Spikes kitties (the Blenheim ones 😂😂), but it's not genetically possible. I hope you guys are doing well. It's always nice to see the pups, and now kitties. 🤗🤗
