If you didn’t know, the title track “Dagundong” is about the dark history of the Philippines, being conquered and being deprived of our freedom in the hands of our former colonizers (Spain and US). They re-enacted parts of our history such as the arrival of Spanish ships in 1521, our Revolution towards independence (1896-1898), and being trampled by American conquerors at the time (1899). And NOLI is short for “Noli Me Tángere”, which is a title of a novel written by our National Hero, José Rizal. His novels woke the nation up in a time of crisis, sparked the desire for a better change, and started the revolution towards independence from Spain. Aside from the dark contents of the novel, it features a lovestory of María Clara and Crisostomo. This is what the song is about

I hope you're aware of SURREALISM ART (esp.yung mountain of hands + apak), mas efficient na studio&green screen ang gamitin kasi controlled yung environment. They intentionally used plain backgrounds para mas emphasized yung ELEMENTS and COLORS: Red, Yellow, White-lahat may meaning. Kapag plain background & minimal elements, mas nakakafocus ang viewer sa facial expressions & movements. If ang basehan mo po is Gento mv (which combined real outdoor set/locations +green screen) magkaiba po ng visual elements na gusto i-emphasize nung 2 mv. The point is, the production team knows what they do. Cinematic effect doesn't complement the beat-baka magmukha lang trailer ng penduko/historical movie ang MV kung gagawing cinematic. Kailangan hyper/attention-grabbing kada frame para match sa beat ng song. If magsstorytell lang (parang movie) walang masyadong impact/thrill kasi spoonfeed yung visual presentation. Siguro bagay yung cinematic effect+outdoor location+"storytelling" sa NOLI🤎

Maria Clara and Ibarra were star crossed lovers but in the song, Mo potrayed them as being able to escape their fate and got together instead. Manila Dreams - it's about the pursuit of a better life by moving to the capital -Manila Multo - means "ghost". This is a clever song. It cautions someone about meeting people who are too good to be true only to ghost you eventually Dong-dong ay - is a folk song. Talks about being hopeful and working towards a better society by working together and building each other up. My favorite from the album are dagundong and Manila Dreams. Its only been 2 days and these songs have creeped into my most played playlist already.
I think Manila Dreams is such a special song since they all came from different provinces but they all came together reach their dreams in said place Manila despite the hardships they went through 🫶

i feel like manila dreams hits so close to home, from people uprooting themselves from the province to go to manila in hopes for a better life, to filipinos going abroad for a search for a better life. Migrating and facing hardships towards a better life is so ingrained in the filipino culture 😢
