    Thank you! I received a 1910 treadle and am restoring the cabinet and will replace the machine. The first task was to remove the old machine from the cabinet. I erroneously thought I could just remove the hinges. Even though my machine is older, I took pictures and the machine is attached in exactly the same way. It took me 3-4 minutes. I didn't have to call anyone or wait for my husband to get home. I appreciate your sharing yourtechnique and tips!

    Thank you so much for the video! ❤️
    Now I won't have to fight the whole sewing cabinet over to the technician 😄

    Thanks for the video, the light in my room here is terrible so I couldn't get a good view underneath myself to figure it out. Time to get this puppy out for a thorough cleaning.

    I saw on another video putting a rubber band stretched between the 2 post and stand them up, then cut when you get the machine on them

    How did you get the wire in and out of the hole on the right, to get it off and back on the cabinet? I can’t find a video that shows the wiring removal.

    Thanks for your video, what about machines where the unpluggable cord is woven through the cabinet?

    Very helpful! I just purchased an antique sewing machine and intend to use it as a vanity table. However it's a shame to keep a machine like that hidden away, especially since I sew as a hobby, so I want to keep the machine on display on my bookshelf.

    You can do this single handed by wrapping a large rubber band between the hinges, ie stretched from one to the other, tip them up and they tend to stay there. Cut the band off afterwards, before tilting the head down into position. Voila!

      This is great for finger safety, too, because no one's fingers have to be touching the hinges.

    Is there a way to remove JUST the machine, and to leave the plate that the machine is attached to?
    I want to use the cabinet only, and cannot leave a big hole.

    Can I remove those other screws in the cabinet and take it off that way? Those screw on mine just turn forever like they are stripped but the machine will not lift up out if the cabinet.

    I stretch a rubber band between the two hinge pins to hold them up.

    where do you store the sewing machine if you want the table closed? I have a similar model?

      The sewing machine folds down into the cabinet for storage.

    Hi I have a 1910 singer treadle, it will not drop into its cabinet.
    Am I missing something?

    My machine will not stay on the pins when I fold it into the cabinet. I thighten the bolts associated with the pins. What do I need to do?

    I was hoping to find a pout about how an assist spring is attached?

    This doesn't consider the electrical components still holding it in.

    • @supermom-nocape9831
      @supermom-nocape9831  7 років тому +2

      If you look closely in the video at the 28 second mark, the electrical plug is unplugged from the sewing machine and the sewing machine is lifted completely clear of the cabinet. There are no electrical components holding the machine in.

      @@supermom-nocape9831 What about the foot pedal? How do you disconnect this to take the machine out of the cabinet?

    • @twinmama997

      @@supermom-nocape9831 My machine looks just like yours but the machine is literally wired to the table. You can detach the power cord but there are still wires going from the machine to the table lever that drops the machine. This is so frustrating! I wish my wire detached easily like yours.

    • @VickyStein
      @VickyStein 3 роки тому +1

      @@twinmama997 Mine is like that too. Did you figure out how to detach?

    • @twinmama997
      @twinmama997 3 роки тому

      @@VickyStein Yes. Where the wire connects to the machine, there are 3 black small knobs. Unscrew the middle and 3rd one and the ends of the wire are up under the small caps. So the wire doesn't just unplug on our model. The pedal wire has to be literally detached or unwired from the machine. I hope that makes sense.
