To Jason, it's not about being better than them, it's about doing the right thing. And the right thing in Jason's mind is putting down fuckers like Joker because they're beyond redemption or imprisonment and it's frankly better for everyone that guys like Big J can't just run around doing what they want without consequence.
@@jahrusalem3658 The problem I have with all this is that Jason went through unbelievable amount of torture and being a captive, to the point where he is practically insane, in my opinion. His killing tendencies come from a place of madness, not a feeling of justice and doing the right thing.
Killing in cold blood and doing it just because you can is never a good thing in my book. For Batman, it's not about being better than the criminals or villains, it's about doing the right thing and sending the right message to the people. It's why he always talks about how important symbolism is and the way people see him, he actually wants to inspire hope in the civilians and make criminals fear his unrelenting presence and resolve.
@@00ivatsa I never said Jason was right, just that he kinda had a point with Joker. Honestly, it doesn't even bother me that Batman hasn't killed Joker, it's the fact that the STATE hasn't just executed his ass.

The thing I find most interesting about Red Hood is he's basically what Batman would be if he didn't follow the no killing rule. Intelligent, unstoppable and terrifying.

@@simp6303True...but at the same time, and forgive me, i'm more on the marvel side of super heroes, but If I lived in Arkham and The Joker say...kiddnapped my wife and she died. I'd be extremely distraught. They put him in an asylum and he eventually breakes out or escapes or whatever, then it's my child that's next. The process will go on...and on and on...if we continuously take Batman's approach (Because that's how main villians operate, not mad at that) Whereas with This current Red Hood, you mess up bad enough, that's it, no one else will have to suffer for your actions. Mental illness and second chances only last for so long, and if the population would benefit more without a dangerous psycopath that has constantly escaped and has no intentions of change, I'm going with Red Hood's way of handeling it. Then there's the tax dollars that the people of Arkham have to continually put into it, and if a super dangerous criminal keeps simply being locked up, instead of executed, I'd consider being a villian, because no one else seems to want to make that choice.
The problem is this is the way you become a villain and start believing you are a god that decides everybody's fate. This is the mindset that gave us Injustice Superman. Humanity needs the justice system and the ideology behind it to keep us in check. Saying corruption has ruined it and reverting back to the laws of the jungle, where only the strongest survive, only leads to more chaos and destruction in the long term.

Then there is this saying I have been finding lately that goes and I quote: “If the penalty for that crime is a fine, then that law only exists for the lower class.” Then there are people who use the law to pray on other people, like in paternity courts, or almost any court case involving a woman, who on average, would receive less punishment for the exact same crime a man would commit. When the law is broken and flawed, it’s not true justice. Not saying Red Hood is what real justice is, just that the needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few when you have constant psychos escaping and killing people, and if putting down a few of them ensures me and my supposed family can be safer in general, I’m all for Red Hoods approach here.
In all my hours of replaying that episode, I have never seen the line: "Excuse me, scumbag."

Its weird how main story Jason is unbearable but Arkham Episode Jason feels like Jason Todd from the comics, more sadistic, classic robin humor, and badass.
Also I feel like they shouldve made this a full fledged story, like Black Mask has taken weapons and gear from the militia and Jason wants to repent for his mistakes during the main story, one of the weaknesses of being day 1 dlc I guess

What do you mean by unbearable? He was clearly fucked up from everything Joker did to him, info is a bit conflicting but most places state Joker had been torturing Jason for more than a year and a few sources even state almost 2 years. The fact that Jason was a functioning human after all that is a miracle, so him being and acting like a maniac was pretty much spot on. His personality changed through being Robin, Arkham Knight and then the Red Hood, it's a very logical progression.
@@00ivatsanever commented on how he acted like a manic thats fine, I call him unbearable because they make him too whiney, he gets more annoying in his dialogue and I know he was tortured, but(in the main story) he isnt very well written when compared to Jason in Under the red hood, felt more interesting and actually was poking holes in Batmans no kill policy, while this Jason doesnt have any moral significance to Batman besides the fact Batman took the word of a madman and stopped looking for Jason. He has too many scenes where he just has tantrums.

The militia are mercenaries that are criminals themselves and Jason needed 3 billion dollars from the Gotham villains to assemble the army, he doesn't have money like that by himself, unlike Bruce, who is basically a 1-man army himself mainly due to his access to superior tech with his huge wealth.
@@michaellevin2861 black mask wasn't yeeted in origins it was a body double jokee killed. Also, there is a side case where you destroy black masks chemical containers and confront him at the church. After that he eventually gets picked up by the GCPD. In Arkham City there's a challenge map where you have to take on black mask. He is still alive in all 3 parts. Well, at least until Arkham Knight.
Imagine if after all of that, Batman (or one of his protégés) arrives just in time to save Black Mask from the fall.

I dont really know how to explain It but Batman gives the enemies some sort of failed sense of security before he beats them. Red Hood on the other hand has obviously more blood lust but he also has an aggressive fight style that he got from his mentor and adapted it to his own. Kinda interesting when you are thinking about it

@@rawwej That's just one of the many problems I have with Red Hood and most playable characters
Zip kick is the most broken arsenal both Red Hood and Robin suffers. Zip kick doesn't give Red Hood and Robin I-frame, which mean when you zick kick an enemy, if you accidentally fly near an electric baton enemy, you still get hit. Secondly, Red hood has no animation for against Brute, so Rocksteady used Shield and Baton for Red Hood. If you play endless map, after a while the whole area will fill with shield and electric baton enemies. Characters with no "disarm and destroy" will definitely has no chance in endless map.
Arkham Origins did a better job for playable characters, because they have disarm and destroy takedown

7:38 this isn’t really a complaint, but it’s still saying I think it’s worth noting: seeing the purple enemies are bulletproof, their ground takedown animations should play out differently. Maybe Red Hood stomps their head into the ground or something like that?

I’ve always felt that Jason understood Gotham more than Bruce ever did. Jason’s upbringing was more akin to how Gotham really is, he knew how the world really worked from an early age. Bruce was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and was oblivious about the uncomfortable truths of life until that night in the alley gave him a harsh dose of reality. Plus, it’s pretty obvious that Batman’s brand of justice doesn’t really work that well on Gotham’s criminals, cause guys like Joker and Penguin are always back on their bullshit. If he just used Red Hood’s methods and put them down, there wouldn’t be any more chances for them to harm anyone ever again.

Hey this is very clean. Only things I'd say for improvement to make it more "creative" in the free-flow combat sections is to try implement some zip-kicks. They're the same input as the batclaw for batman, though unlike the batclaw it's an immediate attack instead of requiring another input for the slam. You get either 2 animations depending on if you're right next to the enemy or far away so that's variety lol.
Also in general with every character you can do an aerial attack (that move you do for shield enemies but you press attack on another enemy to get a cool mid-air flip), but timing that without getting hit can be very annoying so it's something you do like once in an entire combo.

Is it too much to ask for a Red Hood or Nightwing story game in the Arkham verse. It would absolutely not be repetitive, which is what I think Rocksteady is worried about. The combat is good enough to keep it the exact same as Knight but just give a new story, that being said. It would be so easy to open the doors then to open world motorcycle gameplay, a new more mad max like Batmobile style car for one of the two. Different open world movement styles and opportunities. Not to mention you could just give them their own original set of gadgets, focusing primarily on Red Hoods gun or Nightwings escrimas. I promise you Rocksteady, it would do absolutely fat numbers if you said "THIS IS IN THE ARKHAM VERSE, AND THERE IS FREE FLOW COMBAT WITH REDHOOD/NIGHTWING AS THE MAIN CHARACTER" I swear
