While not ideal in Talia's mind, it's evident she thought: keep Dick around to keep Bruce pacified. Talia figured (and rightfully so) that Nightwing was the "most favored" of Batman, therefore to kill him would only destroy her chances of getting with Bruce. Injuring Nightwing, in her mind, would give her some leverage over both of them. As for Jason, Tim and Babs ... irrelevant to her.
Yeah talk about taking no for an anwser, she literally revived him and used some of her lazarus pit knowledge to make him be a killer, for someone who calls bruce a lover, she really just wanted to force him to see and do things her way@@gameraider100
I love Jason's one. Jason finally gets the acceptance from Bruce that he's been looking for even if he never admits it. Bruce telling Jason everything he needed to hear so he can finally move on. Red Hood's ending is my fav one. He's the new Knight that Gothamn needs ( I don't mind him killing some criminals...come on yall know how fked up some of them are )
I realized that Jason, Tim, and Barbara's scenes showed Bruce getting stabbed in the back, but Richard's scene showed Bruce getting slashed by Talia's sword instead.
I think the reason why Bruce held Dick back is because he's the fastest among the four of them and would intercept Talia if Batman didn't react fast enough. Nightwing would also put his body between Bruce and Talia's sword but that's just my idea.
Dick and Jason got the best endings, but Tim got the hug so... And nightwings ending is the only one where batman survives for sure with few lasting injuries
Not really. All ending have a personal level. Also the lazarus pit doesn't make it personal for Jason. Jason doesn't really care about the pit much. He never did. It's personal because he's trying to prove himself to Bruce. For Tim it's personal because he admires Bruce and sees him as the best father he could ever have. For Barbara Bruce was the last father figure she had left. And for Dick he's been trying to lead the team and prove himself to Bruce (both shown in his side mission) and Bruce was his father for years. Tbh this just makes Nightwing's ending the best because he has alot more personal motivation than the rest.
Its ironic. Jason died only to be reborn from the pits, and Bruce tried to save Jason. Now with Jason doing the same. Felt right to have jason in this mission
They all act so differently towards Bruce it's actually well done Dick treats Bruce like he is his older brother, even joking with each other, Dick is also quicker Tim acts like Bruce is his father and he is a scared son trying to help as best as he can, Tim is also Smarter Jason acts like Bruce is his life long friend trying to help him through some serious shit, Jason is also stronger Barbra entire scene was just weird, it was the only one where Bruce seemed like he just killed himself rather then save them lol
Yeah, Batgirl's felt the least emotional of the three. Talia gets the jump on all of them, which Bruce naturally throws himself in front of the danger. Except for Batgirl, they're ready to square off and Bruce just puts himself in the way just to be stabbed and rendered unable to help.
Jason’s was definitely the best and most logical. He too was brought back with a Lazarus pit and was brought back from its effect, so he knows what Bruce is going through and how to help him. He is also easily the most damaged of the four so him finally hearing what he needed to from Bruce set him free in a way.
He says something to each of his sons to reassure them of his belief in them, telling them Tim he’s ready to be a hero, telling Jason he knows he will do good, and this is his way of telling Dick that he absolutely trusts him to take care of everything and everyone in his stead and always has.
When said Bruce “I told you and your father to stay away from my family” this shows how much he cares for him and how he is willing to take his own life if it means to protect them.
I love how personalized they made each of these scenes. Personally, I think Jason's was the best with Tim in close second. Jason's line of "you held me together before, so I'm doing it for you now" is just so heartmelting. He knows how it feels to go through the Pit, so him talking Bruce through it is amazing. I also like Tim's because he's just so genuinely happy to see Bruce and its adorable. Cinamon roll needs a hug.
Honestly, I think Nightwing was the best. The first protege, coming back to save his mentor/surrogate father. I mean, he even talks about how Bruce was all he had after his parents died. Then, at the end, with the "Bruce... I got this." It's just a great moment of him coming out of Batman's shadow which was Nightwing's whole deal originally.
@@blackdemonknight Oh, sure, but man, it is *lacking* in soul. I feel like that could've been written so much better - could've actually shown some more emotion to Jason since, y'know, his whole story is about trying to find more to his identity beyond his own anger. Feel like they did him and Batgirl dirty.
I like that Bruce is more protective over Barbara for Jim’s sake. He doesn’t doubt her skills against Talia, but he doesn’t want her to risk her life for him.
14:37 Tim rushing to hug Bruce and being so small next to him after barely being able to fight him off and actually letting go of him while trying to appeal to him during the heat of the fight reminds you that he is actually still a child. You get glimpses of it when there are baby brother moments with his adult siblings, but it is really apparent here. 15:42 You see just how small and young Tim is here too. He can’t even make a dent trying to push Bruce back.
Notes on Jason's - Talia seemed much more aggressive when she heard about Jason being revived. As if she only wanted Bruce to be the only one??? Either way she seemed incredibly more hostile than with the others-
31:50 I LOVE that the writers of this game had Bruce acknowledge and call the BatFam HIS family. It’s such a breath of fresh air but it’s also sad that very few writers of Bruce/Batman don’t do it more often. @@shadowx8145 it shouldn’t be and it isn’t always In fact, the edgy and abusive shit should at the very least be rare because it degrades Bruce/Batman’s character
I feel neutral on the game, but I did enjoy the interaction and bond Bruce had with the Bat family. Jason's scenes felt more personal considering he too was revived in the Lazarus Pit. I appreciate each of their talk with Bruce in the final moments. Diabolical that Talia took advantage of Bruce after reviving him.
I understand he's been revived and not at full strength but kinda thought they would add more QTE counters from bruce when the player attacks and whenever he stays within a certain range of the pit, he heals and is numb to damage. Leading to the Appeals being how to beat him instead of actually beating on him and if you do get him to zero, it triggers a bad ending "at what cost?" Or "For the mission" achievement (wishful thinking, not real)
Nightwing was the best hands down imo, just watching a father & son (I know Jason is also his son as well), but Dick being the big brother with the added responsibility of leading the group. I mean look at 7:31 it just says it all there between the two🥺
I love how Tim and Dick are the only ones who did some decent damage to Talia even though Jason should’ve had an advantage given the fact that he’s the same age as Dick and his abilities have been boosted by the Lazarus pit making him stronger and faster than an average human being
Not same age as Dick he’s slightly younger but yeah he’s second in overall skill and experience right after him it makes no sense for Tim to preform better.
I mean they all did about the same amount of damage and played to their fighting style. Dick swarmed her with a flurry of hits and caught her off guard with a baton kick. Tim used his staff to keep distance and got a good kick to keep distance then idk if he actually hit her with his staff when they separated. Jason rushed her trying to strong precise hits while also dodging and willing to take a hit himself.
@@tylercollins2868 Tim and Dick are the only two that got more than one hit off on her and barely took any hits themselves which doesn’t make much sense since I’m pretty sure if I remember correctly Tim is the least skilled out of all the robins and he shouldn’t be able to even hold his own against someone like Talia until much later in his life when he’s an adult like Dick and Jason
@@TonyJaaFan1587 Dick had one clean hit. Tim had two, and I gave him the poke at the end. Jason had three clean hits. Tim is not a skilled fighter, which is clear from the fact that he keeps dodging and running away from Talia, countering when he could. As I've already said, Dick is swarming her, so she doesn't have a chance to respond, and he's avoiding her with his greater agility. Jason, who is built like a tank, won't be able to move around as well in close quarters, especially when fighting experienced fighters. He avoids attacks that could potentially harm him like the sword, but he takes the ones he could eat cause someone Talia's frame is not doing a lot of damage to someone like Jason bare handed.
@@tylercollins2868 Jason literally says "this is gonna hurt you a lot more that it will me" so yes I think his style of fighting generally involves eating a couple hits to hurt the opponent a lot more. It makes sense given his bulky build and heightened strength.
Jason’s attitude during this let alone the whole game is just perfect “you just had to try dying for yourself” and during talia’s monologue you could feel him rolling his eyes
I love how each interaction is different and ties to the character’s journey. Nightwing shows Bruce that he’s ready to step up and take on the responsibility as leader of the BatFamily. Bruce tells Tim that he no longer needs Batman to protect Gotham. Bruce shows Jason that he has complete faith in him. Barbara shows Bruce that she’s just like her father and will never give up.
Agreed, imo this game really compliments and works for Jason’s character the most. Jason has the most connection to the League, Lazarus Pits, and Bruce’s Life and Death arc as well Maybe if there was more Court of Owls, maybe with William Cobb then Dick would’ve had something more as well. Lincoln March could’ve been a cool choice as well
@@gabebartlett9680 Even the changes they added for him fit so well to the story. He promised for Bruce's sake to go non-lethal and the wavelength between the group of him and the others were a bit shaky because of his purge villains past.
@@brightbeyonddarkness The only change that is glaringly absent is Jason's dialogue with Talia. Given his history with Talia and the League of Shadows, I would have expected unique dialogue between him and Talia as well as their own choice words in said dialogue.
I like all of them for different reasons. Dick's the first, the original surrogate son, and there's feeling in that. Tim truly loves Bruce like a father (and vice versa) and the struggle to not break down is noticeable. Jason has personal experience with Lazarus Pits and it shows in the dialogue, as well as his relationship with Bruce and the arc completion moment. Barbara's feels original, a bit more fleshed out even without the Lazarus Pit connection (if there's one, please correct me), and her love for him also shows strongly. My only question is why a slash in Nightwing's but a stab in the rest?
Nightwings would be the canon ending as the stab endings are much more likely to be fatal granted Jason would most likely just throw Bruce back in the pit
I absolutely love the glowing green eyes, if Damian is ever in this game or if they make a second one and he’s in it-I hope to everything they give him those glowing green eyes
All of these scenes are pretty good for the most part, I just wish they could’ve changed Talia’s dialogue just a little bit so it made more sense. As it stands, some of her dialogue doesn’t match up very well with what each character is saying.
These are so good, but it's incredibly hard to take it seriously with Tim's cape intersecting his leg and Bruce's hover hand over Jason's shoulder. Brilliant stuff.
Honestly I think they should’ve handled it differently. I know it was a story about the bat family. But if they let you play as Bruce or Batman for the final boss it would’ve been so good.
5:52 The relief in Bruce’s voice that his beloved eldest son who has always had his back and his trust is alive in front of him, and the relief in Dick’s voice that his dad is truly alive and he won’t actually have to hurt him is heartbreaking :’( It has been proven several times that Dick is actually stronger than Bruce with higher combat skills and that he is always holding back because his goal is to stop people not hurt them. As soon as Bruce realizes that Dick is there he immediately leans on him for help, as he always has, and also does everything he can to protect him. 6:53 Bruce immediately calming down, listening to him, and showing his absolute trust in and love for Dick is wonderfully done and so accurate!
This game was successful enough to warrant a sequel, whether people like it or not. I’d really like to see them do a Battle for the Cowl storyline where the batfamily has conflict about who gets to wear the cowl next, then they can introduce Damian as the next phase to Talia’s plan. Eventually he can join the family and be playable as the new Robin.
I haven't actually read the comics, but almost all of the knights have some form of arc. Dick is the new Batman in the BftC story, and probably has the most time spent with Bruce. Jason (my favorite "hero") deals with his death and Lazarus effects. He finally finds acceptance from his mentor. Barbara is also compelling, she already looks like Batman, plus Batwoman in red. She deals with the GCPD after Jim died and in my playthrough, her being the new knight is kinda fitting. Tim is the youngest, but he learns how to handle things Batman would in his early years. His arc is a strong coming-of-age story
Id actually hate for them to bicker over who gets to wear the cowl if the story is a sequel to this. You would have to back track their character arcs about being a team just to have them fight of who is batman when the game was about them becoming their own knights. A really bad direction to take a sequel there.
@@aerostrafe1075 It’s not entirely backtracking if crime in the city is getting worse due to Batman’s absence, the Court is more and more active as the ranks are rebuilt, while the League is plotting their next move and potentially introducing Damian like said previously, maybe Bane and his squad begin to infiltrate Gotham know that Batman’s gone. Then the Knights contemplate on leaving the ideal of Batman dead or voting on one of them becoming the next Bat. It’s for the purpose of storytelling and more customization for the Knights, giving you more choice within the game. They each go through their arc in Gotham Knights where they recognize their worth as a protector of Gotham, could easily lead into them questioning who’s more worthy to be the Bat. The comic storyline for Battle for the Cowl wasn’t exactly a concrete idea on paper either, but they made it work. Ended up with Dick taking on the role of Batman while Damian was Robin. Better options for a sequel rather than just lazily bringing back Bruce.
@@Drax1109 If all that is happening then even stranger for them to battle one another over who should be batman. The context also wouldn't work as well since batman has been gone awhile.
@@aerostrafe1075 Would be way better if they advance on their appearances in the inspiration of batman, instead of bickering over the cowl, still working as a 4 people squad in Gotham just as Bruce would've wanted.
Honestly I love the variation between Tim, Dick and Jason, really feels personal to each one and especially love the different set ups before fighting talia. Barbara's however seems very stale, I get she wasn't a Robin and all but her dialogue was very werid towards Bruce. I don't know about the last one, seems very bland and seems they rushed Barbara's dialogue like they couldn't make a good sympathetic tone here. Overall love the Robin's variation, kinda wished Barbara's version was more so like the rest.
I really do love the cutscenes in this game. They're so heartfelt and after all the angst they've dealt with this feels like it's been a long time coming. They've all grown and matured and my god you love to see it. As a side note, they brought Bruce back only to off him again like 5 minutes later. I love those 5 minutes but I can't help but laugh when they essentially say 'sike he's alive' then 'sike again, still dead'
I think there's something really poetic about Jason being the one to save Burce. Jason in a way proves he was able to do something Batman wasn't able to by saving him. Something Bruce wasn't able to do. Yet on the other hand This moment shows and proves that Batman never giveing up on Jason was right call it was that reason Jason was able to save Batman. The father is by the son. And is able to because the father never gave up on the son.
I loved the fact that Tim rams and hugs Bruce like really Tim is a good son to him and the closest thing to Bruce. But also thought it was Dick who was closer but still makes sense for Tim
If you play out the whole game as Jason Todd it just feels more personal to him sense he has experience with the Lazarus pit, and he’s basically in the shoes that Bruce was when Jason died
How much more lore is referenced and how there's actually more dialogue in Batgirl's sequence makes it loud and clear who is the canonical main character of this game.

I realized that Jason, Tim, and Barbara's scenes showed Bruce getting stabbed in the back, but Richard's scene showed Bruce getting slashed by Talia's sword instead.
Which means that nightwing one is canon!!
I think the reason why Bruce held Dick back is because he's the fastest among the four of them and would intercept Talia if Batman didn't react fast enough. Nightwing would also put his body between Bruce and Talia's sword but that's just my idea.
Batman with the other's:LET ME FIGHT HER!!!
Batman with Jason:you do it
I think Batman saw Jason as an equal to him there.

He probably knew Jason had unfinished business with her.

Dick and Jason got the best endings, but Tim got the hug so...
And nightwings ending is the only one where batman survives for sure with few lasting injuries
Red hood ending>>> the connection to the Lazarus pits just makes it a lot more personal than the others imo
Yeah a lot of this story, specifically the third act, kind of feels like it was written for him
I'd say it's mostly written for dick and Jason
It’s also mostly written for batgirl too

They all act so differently towards Bruce it's actually well done
Dick treats Bruce like he is his older brother, even joking with each other, Dick is also quicker
Tim acts like Bruce is his father and he is a scared son trying to help as best as he can, Tim is also Smarter
Jason acts like Bruce is his life long friend trying to help him through some serious shit, Jason is also stronger
Barbra entire scene was just weird, it was the only one where Bruce seemed like he just killed himself rather then save them lol
Yeah like Barbara and Talia were about to go at it, then Bruce just runs in front of Barbara and gets himself stabbed for no reason 💀
The funny thing is Tim parents are still alive so bruce is more like his uncle
I’d say barb acted as if Batman was her adopted father sense Jim was obviously dead and Bruce compared her to Jim while she compared herself to Bruce

Dick: I got you.
Bruce: Yeah. You always do.
That hit the feels. 😢
❤
I love how personalized they made each of these scenes. Personally, I think Jason's was the best with Tim in close second. Jason's line of "you held me together before, so I'm doing it for you now" is just so heartmelting. He knows how it feels to go through the Pit, so him talking Bruce through it is amazing. I also like Tim's because he's just so genuinely happy to see Bruce and its adorable. Cinamon roll needs a hug.
Timmy is a cinnamon role ❤😂
Honestly, I think Nightwing was the best. The first protege, coming back to save his mentor/surrogate father.
I mean, he even talks about how Bruce was all he had after his parents died. Then, at the end, with the "Bruce... I got this." It's just a great moment of him coming out of Batman's shadow which was Nightwing's whole deal originally.
Maybe but Jason's is a strong contender given he knows how exposure of the pit works and how best to help Batman recover to resists it's effects.
@@blackdemonknight Oh, sure, but man, it is *lacking* in soul. I LOVE that the writers of this game had Bruce acknowledge and call the BatFam HIS family. It’s such a breath of fresh air but it’s also sad that very few writers of Bruce/Batman don’t do it more often. Like, I’ve seen DC comic writers write Bruce/Batman to only see the BatFam as his soldiers and army and blatantly disregard them as his family
For the love of god DC, write Bruce properly and have him show more love towards his found family, cut all the edgy and abusive bullshit drama that TOO many comic writers include when writing about the BatFamily
animated series batman has you covered there hell most of the DCAU from 90s hits the feels
Most of modern DC writers only read Frank Miller's Batman. Aka Fascist psycho Aka CrazySteve. So no surprises they write him wrong in this day and age
@@mrksimka1159 frank Miller was good because it was something that was different at the time but people think that's all he is... which is not the case batman is still Human and has those emotions even if he's a bit jaded and secluded but the love he has for the bat family is real and he'd take damage for them any day.... just hate how they keep trying to make batman more and more gritty like don't get me wrong I love when he wails on criminals and is a badass but I loved when he could just sit down next to a girl that is about to die of a brain related issue and just sit on. @@shadowx8145 it shouldn’t be and it isn’t always
In fact, the edgy and abusive shit should at the very least be rare because it degrades Bruce/Batman’s character
He’s also fucked in the head not thinking strait

Nightwing was the best hands down imo, just watching a father & son (I know Jason is also his son as well), but Dick being the big brother with the added responsibility of leading the group. I mean look at 7:31 it just says it all there between the two🥺
Tim is also his son and now that Barbara doesn’t have a das anymore ig she’s available for adoption🤔
Jason’s attitude during this let alone the whole game is just perfect
“you just had to try dying for yourself”
and during talia’s monologue you could feel him rolling his eyes
I love how each interaction is different and ties to the character’s journey. Nightwing shows Bruce that he’s ready to step up and take on the responsibility as leader of the BatFamily. Bruce tells Tim that he no longer needs Batman to protect Gotham. Bruce shows Jason that he has complete faith in him. Barbara shows Bruce that she’s just like her father and will never give up.

Jason's is The only ending that feels canon, it basically completes his whole character arc. The others are just kinda the same at The end.
Agreed, imo this game really compliments and works for Jason’s character the most. Jason has the most connection to the League, Lazarus Pits,
and Bruce’s Life and Death arc as well
Maybe if there was more Court of Owls, maybe with William Cobb then Dick would’ve had something more as well.
All of them have a solid interaction with Bruce and his following injury. That being said, I think Jason has my favorite.
Dick and Jason’s were my favorites. They’re all really good in their own way
I like that little detail that Bruce recognizes Jason even while he's still under the effects of the Lazarus Pit.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how badass and gritty this version of Bruce Wayne looks. What a gigachad
I absolutely love the glowing green eyes, if Damian is ever in this game or if they make a second one and he’s in it-I hope to everything they give him those glowing green eyes
My favourite reaction is the saddest reaction of Red Hood... I could already tell and feel how he felt under that mask when he took his first gasp...
I love Jason’s. Pep talk of the century from one Lazarus pit victim to another.
All of these scenes are pretty good for the most part, I just wish they could’ve changed Talia’s dialogue just a little bit so it made more sense. As it stands, some of her dialogue doesn’t match up very well with what each character is saying.
It feels like it was designed for the Nightwing option, then forced to fit the others.
To watch Batman die twice is just too much

Talia treats Tim as a child, but forgets he was trained by Shiva, who would slap Talia silly on her worst days.
Honestly on batgirls version he really didn’t need to get stabbed
