- A 2:30 promo that never aired! I made this one night messing around in KCRA's post-production department. I took the custom music that most stations got from NBC, combined with a whole mess on one-inch videotape borrowed from the promotion library and a 17-year-old's desire to learn.
Thought it was terrible and never showed it to anyone. One day about 4 years later, I happened to be dubbing it in Engineering and the promotion manager saw it and wondered why I never showed it to him. He said he would have aired it or at least used it somewhere. Oh, well.....
A couple of years ago, I found that someone had uploaded a bad-quality copy to you-tube. I really wonder where it came from. I had the only copy of it in existance. When I left KCRA in 1992, I thought I took the only copy with me. - Розваги
Sadly, you don't see TV station or network promos this grand scale anymore.
I am stunned this never aired, this is high quality!
This is awesome! Its neat seeing what things were like in 83
Cool, good ole KCRA
Good job, Stacy!
This is pretty good, Actually!
Actually, that poor copy probably came from the 80s TV Theme Supersite and was uploaded here. Someone thought it would be fun to upload material from that site, despite that site still existing....even though it's been more than five years since it's been updated.
I live in KCRA's area
This does make me wish you had a copy of the instrumental.
I watched this without reading the description and thought gee, this affiliate missed the deadline to get the network to custom make the package and made their own… was just missing the 83 era graphics that they heavily used in the network made promos and I don’t think there was a single NBC N of doom / peacock!
Late 70s Early 80s
California, show us your peacock!
You mean NBC Peacock.
@@Naminski1a Yeah!
who was the black man at 0:20???....did he get to go to NBC???....that A's player sliding into second was that Rickey Henderson?????...I asking this same question on every NBC or local NBC promo and I hope I don't sound like a broken record..wonder if my hometown station what was then KMOL4 in San Antonio Texas used this with altered lyrics KMOL be there????...wish I could remember same with Houston's KPRC 2 be there wish some one could help
Nice production but a lot of the footage makes it look almost like a gag reel for a Christmas tape. That's not an insult because those things are great but just not meant for public consumption
Honestly, it's probably for the best that this never aired, simply because of the overlapping music. Viewer perception of a channel is critical for said channel's success, and viewers might of percieved this negatively because of it being ameteur... but tbf you really couldn't do much better with the technology availible in 1983
