Gosh, I love you. Gosh, I love your honesty. When I was a kid, my dad used to listen to this man on the radio in Virginia, I believe he was called Mr. Eden. He was a Nazi. People called EVERY TIME HE WAS ON AIR asking about watering. Every single time he said you should water around 5 a.m. (before work) only, but if you can't, then late, late in the evening OR NOT AT ALL; ever. He always acted like no one should be able to have any plants unless they did what he told him too. I thought, what an idiot. He was like a Nazi. Liar. You are right. Water your plants when they NEED watering, or they will die. They may die anyway, but you have the best shot at keeping them alive when you give them what they need when they need it. I have saved plants on the fairly rare occasion when I have watered during the day if the plants need water. It is stupid not to. Love the way you put it.
Based on your experience, this substantiates what many are now discovering and calling the ‘pulse watering’ or what those in many pro greenhouses call ‘shots’ that are timed to light exposure as well. It would be well worth checking out and may change your drip approach over all & save you that extra hand watering if you were able to set up the multiple timings that work for you…
