Have you watched Turning Red yet? What did you think? Let us know your thoughts below!
Yep I Did, The Ending's Very And I Mean VERY Good!
Watched it Friday morning, I liked it better than Luca. I was a teen during the 90s/early 2000s, I like the references to boy bands (nod to N'sync and O town) Can't forget about tamaguchi (what kid back in the 90s didn't have one) also who hasn't gone through the pains of turning into a teenager, deals with what a teenage girl goes through during the beginning stages of puberty. Also who hasn't worried about not living up to the expectations of their parents. Afraid to let their parents down.
it such a cute movie
I haven't seen it yet
yes i watched it with my bestie after school and we totally love it.It's our second favorite movie
I really appreciated how menstruation was portrayed and normalized in this film. I would have NEVER expected it in a children’s film, but you can’t have one without the other if you’re going to make a film about young girls. And Meilin’s romantic awakening as an awkward, nerdy teen with all of those cringy drawings was *chef’s kiss* The accuracy of how awkward it is to be a young, suppressed tween/teen was spot-on!
It feels like a weird continuation of inside out
@@leeuwestein101 OMG YOU’RE RIGHT
YAAAAASSSSSS
It's not really a children's film. Children's films are typically G-rated films for children under 8. This is PG which is geared toward, like you said, preteens/teens aged 11-15
Only Yesterday (1991) by studio Ghibli.
This is absolutely one of Pixar’s best, and easily it’s funniest since Inside Out. The monetizing the panda montage had me in stitches
@Mr. Spectacals you found inside out to be forgettable? That's the first time I've heard that from literally anybody I have ever heard mention this movie ever. I mean it was even referenced in a cutaway on family guy. Most people remember inside out. That is easily one of the most emotional Pixar movies ever and has a whole lot of memorable moments.
Cars 2 is the best movie ever made.
It perfectly captures that awkward phase of adolescence. The braces, the hair that won't cooperate, patchy eyebrows and glitter makeup, the projection of confidence while you're doubting yourself inside, the drama of insignificant things that feel so important in the moment, and that struggle between being a kid who still needs their parents but at an age where you're trying to define yourself as a person.
All those weird little quirks and subtle movements they added to the characters - the lanky arms on Miriam, Abby's inability to sit still (she literally vibrates when she's excited), Priya's deep love of all things paranormal and fantasy (vampires, werewolves), and the switch between more realistic human reactions to the cartoon-ish anime sparkling eyes and pantomime expressions that show anger or sadness. It's a great bridge between CG animation and the flat 2D anime style. Very unique and original!
I loved the movie 10/10. I was surprised there were more riskay moments than I thought they'd be. I was also surprised just how embarrassing Mei lings mom was. She's easily the most embarrassing animated mom ever.
I know
SAME 🥺
Me too.
This movie reminds me of The Goofy Movie that came out in the 90s. Kids back then could relate to Max and find Goofy's actions embarrassing, but now that most 90s kids are parents, they certainly resonate with Goofy more. And of course with Mei Ling's mom with Turning Red. At least this is how I feel when watching this movie two times in a row last night.
I like it too. I can’t believe audiences are trashing it.
I loved this flick, it's definitely one of my favourite movies of 2022 so far. I adored the early 2000's throwbacks, the likable characters, and how it wasn't afraid to delve into heavy mature themes.
Definitely
@SpongeBob SquarePants so Is your grammar
Yeah it's one of my favourite films of 2022 so far as well
@SpongeBob SquarePants so u think so so what
Me too.
My favourite thing about turning red is the mature theme it has, and how it's not afraid to go there.
Me too.
Same
Same Here.
It was so cute! I could totally see my 13 yr old self in Mei when I was learning about my own interests while deviating from those of my parents plus all those uniquely feminine growing pains.
I definitely my teen self in Mei as well.
This movie was really good! Love how progressive it is with culture, diversity, and real problems. They weren’t afraid to push the envelope and it was visually beautiful and funny. Mei and her friends are goals! 4town is now my favorite fictional boy band (besides boyz in motion).
Cant beat the boyz in motion 😭👏🏾👏🏾🤣
@@briajali 😂😂😆😆 right!
😂😂😂 boyz in motion 😂😂😂
I loved how supportive her friends were as well as the kids in school. Even Tyler became a buddy.
When I first saw "Bao" in theaters, I could not wait for Domee Shi's next project with Pixar and it did not disappoint. The movie was a lot of fun, Meilin was an amazing character and finding out that it was made by a female led team made the film more groundbreaking and a perfect way to celebrate Women's History Month. From "The Emperor's New Groove" to this, we need more animated movies that breaks the fourth wall. It's really funny.
did you also notice that in encanto mirabel says "Im just as special as my family! Gift or no gift." and Mei's friends say "Your our girl, Mei. Panda or no panda".
And both films have a daughter trying to live up to the expectations of their parents, particularly why I love both movies
Turning Red’s facial expressions were very priceless!
Fourth wall breaks, don’t forget Mel Brooks, and Monty Python.
I really enjoyed the movie, it was totally awesome, i mean it had it's ups and downs like all movies do but it was still a good watch!!!
And just in case people ask, i was able to watch the movie early because it's already on the internet thanks to certain sites.
@SpongeBob SquarePants BRUH
@SpongeBob SquarePants why did you say that and have watched it already?
@SpongeBob SquarePants why the hell you are on every single turning red video on UA-cam? If you don't like it then there's no need to watch this movie it's that simple and please don't post hate comments i am so sick of you seeing you everywhere.
@SpongeBob SquarePants Dang dude, get out of your childhood already and be an adult.
I know it starts with Y
I loved it, I also like how that both of Mei’s friend group and 4 Town match each other at the end of the film. Now I want to know how it fits in the Pixar Theory.
Omg though the skirts over tights, pastel colours, plastic chokers, that hair clip, the plaid, hair bands, tamagotchi’s, anime doodles…😭 perfect 2000s Canada
Love the art style of this movie! It almost reminds me of the Japanese cartoons like Doraemon. I also love the diversity this movie has along with some of the 2000’s references I may or may not have noticed (as someone who was born into the year of 2000)
omg yesss it reminds me a lot with stand by me doraemon’s art style
Interesting that you saw Doraemon. I saw more of a Wallace and Gromit influence on it, even though I believe that franchise was stop motion.
@@aznmochibunny yeah, Wallace and Gromit was stop motion. I wonder if it has to do with the characters of Turning Red with their big smiles
Here's a fun fact, studio gibili definitely influenced the style.
@@jako_the_maned_wolf3133 wow! No wonder! That's an interesting fact!
The things that I like about Turning Red is had few 2000s & anime reference, diversity of people & there's hijabi background characters as representation of female Muslim characters;which is rare in any American animation studios (if yes, they only made Islamphobia stereotypes jokes)
@Mr. Spectacals that cop wasn't muslim rather Sikh. Canada has high number of Sikh immigrants from India.
@@whorcruxed even better!
This movie had me surprised in so many parts! It really had me going through the motions of feelings. I felt the second hand embarrassment, the determination of goals, and appreciation of things while watching this film. Great job on the team! Incredible job
I felt incredibly called out by Meilin and her friends, as someone who spent adolescence writing fanfiction, obsessing over boybands, and hiding my interests from my immigrant mom.
The cuteness in this movie is enormous.
I keep hearing people saying it's either bad or an ok film, but I love the setting, characters, animation and detail put into this movie. Don't even get me started on the AWOOOOGA scene 💀
Really? Cause I keep hearing people praise it. The only people making noise about it are conservatives
AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGA
Master Shifu (Kung Fu Panda) was a red panda too. Those little pandas rock!
I stayed up till 3 am to watch this when it premiered on Disney plus and I really enjoyed it, I liked a lot of the messages behind it, I also liked seeing that they talked about periods and things like that. It was just a good movie overall, but it’s Pixar so I’m not surprised it was good :)
The red panda is so cute, I want to give her a hug
I love this movie to pieces!! I too was 13 in 2002 and this movie hit so hard - it reminded me of days listening to boy band music with the besties and who would marry the lead singer of whatever band lol.
This movie made me super nostalgic.
Melted my Canuck heart to see us represented by Pixar ♥ Timbits, her Maple Leaf shirt and the CN Tower in the background all means so much ♥
Just finished the movie last night! I'm *SO HAPPY* seeing Toronto in the Pixar Universe
Its Amazing!! And my favorite part is when Mei said: AWOOGA
Same!
Hi Alice B !!
TT for commenting!
Ty*
Just watched it today
Such a good movie! Loved it
For an original Pixar movie, it definitely belongs with the likes of Toy Story. This movie will go on to live in legends. Bravo Turning Red. Bravo. 🥰👏🏼🥺🤧
I LOVED this movie!! One of my favorite Pixar movies for sure and the best one in my opinion since Coco :)
Loved the movie! As someone who grew up and was a teenager in the ‘00s, this was super nostalgic. Completely related to the movie, except for the panda thing. Haha. Great movie!
I loved this film. My favorite part is the showdown at the concert “I lied!…I gyrate!” 😂😂😂😂😂
Haha same 😂
I really enjoyed watching Disney Pixar's newest animated film Turning Red on Disney+ in the UK on the day of it's release Friday 11th March 2022, it was brilliant and it's now one of my favourite Pixar films and one of my favourite films of 2022 10/10
"Don't watch this movie, it's DISGUSTING!" Uh, MAYBE because people think that and they're ignorant? I dunno, but it looks like a great coming of age movie!
I mean, WHAT'S so "Disgusting" about a a 13 year old, becoming an adult? How about ACTUAL proof that "Turning Red" is REALLY BAD or whatever? People are just throwing things up there because they're a bunch of haters, who wants to ruin things for others! Bad enough that Florida has this "No Gay Rights" bill going on! Now people are gonna throw hate on a FAMILY MOVIE?!
I hope I get to watch this movie someday, maybe even with my Mom! Because, guess what? It's a MOVIE!
Besides, there's been OTHER risque stuff in Disney movies and tv series too. NEED I remind others about the LGBT+ being in an animated series? Or about the infamous "Clayton's Death by Hanging" in Tarzan? No one brought THOSE up!
Also, Turning Red could be a GREAT thing for the Red Pandas! Learn more about these wonderful, fluffy creatures, how they're influenced in other medias and more!
You’re right. And the film is fun and awesome. It has a great message about honoring yourself and not hiding the things that make you different. I hope you get to see it and enjoy it.
I loved learning more about this movie!
I love seeing a TTC street car in a Pixar movie!!!
SO GOOD video and
One of Pixar’s best
very very great fun list I like it a lot very great job mis mojo one of my absolute favorite list ever ❤
My favorite part about the whole movie is yeh stupid faces they give the characters ! It just gives them so much personality and uniqueness . I especially love the faces and movement for Abby!
I watched the movie and it was awesome 😎 turned red is my favorite movie ever and I totally enjoyed it dude 👍
About the glasses scene
When mei took of her glasses to go to sleep I really liked that and I think it is important to have main characters with glasses
As for the characters wearing glasses, don't forget Mirabel in "Encanto".
the diabetic characters featured in the movie really made my type one heart happy 😊 there were two, both with either pumps or CGMs on their arms, and one with a pump controller attached to her hip if you look closely. The other character even had a name, and reoccurs in a few scenes!
omg I missed them! where do they appear?
@@isadiaz6281 one of them came one when mei mei’s mother came to school. The other was the girl with the butterfly clips in her hair who was in a few scenes
You're so fluffy! You're so flufffaaayy! Best line so far
0:56 This girl act like she’s in Malcolm in the middle 😂
I'm sad they pulled it from theaters. I think if they did one, it would reach those without Disney+.
Me too.
Its sucks, I cannot go to theater and have to watch a Pixar film with my 1050 Ti under scumbag service of VNPT
I love "Turning Red" I watched it a bunch of times. Its one of my favorite movies. Mei as a panda is soooo cute😁 the way she transforms on the go is awesome. Its like she can fly.
I like the storyline of the movie, and also
Spoilers:
LOOKED SO COOL AT THE RED PANDA TRANSFUSION THING
ALSO THE MOM'S PANDA
I havent even Finished watching the whole movie yet but it seems like one of the bests ever. The cringyness when Mei's mom confronted her crush which ultimatively started everything Was spot on..and now finding out that this was set in the early 2000s when I Was around their age...OH MY LANTA THIS HITS HOME! thank you!!
I really loved this movie. Definitely brought me back to my teen years.
I can't wait to see this! I keep hearing there will FINALLY be some Diabetes representation in the film! As a Type 1 Diabetic, I can't wait!!!
This movie was soooo good no turning red slander here today thank you very much
Ikr it’s so amazing that my favourite movie is filmed in my home! TORONTO CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s an amazing movie
@SpongeBob SquarePants it was pretty good
@SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star no one wants your opinion
MeiMei also means little sister in Chinese
Interesting
Yes! But I loved that they've added that to Mei's mom's character. It's something that my mom would have a quirk of doing so everytime she calls my name.
I just watched it on Disney+
Is everyone pumped about Turning Red NOW STREAMING on Disney+?!
Me!
I like the fourth wall or when their talking to the audience. Make me feel special.
the movie was actually one of the best movies i watched.
Me too.
I really love this movie, one of my favorite Pixar movies
Yeah one of my favourite Pixar films as well
Me too.
I love watching this movie, so enjoyable to watch.
I wasn't expecting much, but this movie was pretty good. Had no idea it was a bit based on the directors life
ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME AN ALL FEMALE LEAD TEAM WE NEED MORE!!!!!!
And i'm just watching this movie right now on Disney+ what a coincidence! Happy friday ms mojo, and very interesting video too, see You soon
I was born in 2000! I listened to hits as I grew up through the 2000s and now
It takes place in Canada (Toronto) My County 😎👍
🇨🇦
I was born 2000 but for some reason my favorite music/fashion trends these days are 90s before my time of maybe early 2000s when I was itty bitty and don’t remember.... finally seeing flashbacks in both music and fashion!
I really loved the movie I just finished watching it.
Idk why but Turning Red is so well told. The story is simple and aite but the way it’s delivered is purrfect.
Nothing less, nothing more
I found a Easter egg, her stuffed animal that she holds while crying is a pugsheen
Perfect time to release this during Women’s History Month and the week of International Women’s Day 😁
I loved the boy band
I loveeeee that Turning red is sooooo Relatable ^-^❤🐼 I love this movie it's my fav and I screamed with joy when they started singing that song it's so good reminds me of bts, relatable like I said^-^
I loved this movie so much!!!!
So am I.
I loved how relatable it was.
This movie is so good. I watched it by myself and loved it, and then I watched it with my niece and nephew and loved that they also loved it. My nephew and I agree that my niece is a lot like Mei Mei.
I was so caught up with the movie and the characters that I forgot to look out for other Pixar Easter eggs... guess I'm going to have to watch it again ;)
AWOOGA!
I’ve been watching and rewatching Turning Red since it came out!
I relate to this movie so much. Because even after I’ve gone through my own puberty years, I’ve been still dealing with intense emotions.
it such a lovely movie i loved it!
plus 4Town reminds me of nsync crossed with bts
watched it today btw its a amazing movie. 10/10
YES IT IS GUDD
It is SO COOL i am DYINGGGG
AHHHH
I love the movie and the message behind it . it's a cute movie 😊
Turning Red is an ABSOLUTELY CUTE movie!!! I will watch again!!!
This movie is incredibly dense in details! It was hard to pay attention at first b/c the jokes (and the tears) were coming like a firehose! This is one of the few movies that I have watched multiple times!
The way sandra look at roselie is so cute and tender, such a mommy
was I the only one to notice that the tears and some of the affects appear to be done in 2D hand animation?
This is such a good movie. Especially for tween/early teen girls. My daughter loves it.
I loved this movie!
i love the whole movie because i love red pandas too.
i loved this movie. Mei and Abby look like my nieces, and I couldn't help but think of them while watching XD I definetly think its one of pixars best movies.
Yeah, making wearing glasses okay ship sailed a LONG time ago, because that's what Harry Potter the BOOK seriese did. From memory I'm fairly sure that transition occured while the first movie was in production.
As someone who began wearing glasses as a young kid around the time the Harry Potter films came out, I was still made fun of for it. So, the HP films didn't do much in terms of normalizing glasses wearing.
@@aznmochibunny It did in the UK
@@abrr2000 Yeah, I live in the US. Was still ridiculed for wearing glasses growing up. The bullying didn't stop until after I graduated from high school.
Bro I remember that short before the incredibles, at the start of Turning Red it just reminded me of Bao. Now it makes sense
Awooga!!
Like all your videos
Ok, so I know this movie came out yesterday but,
Tyler’s kinda my favorite character now.😲
It straight up becomes a superhero movie at the end!
This film captured being a young girl in 2002 so perfectly 👌🏻
Just finished it. Pretty good.
Me too.
