I’m so excited for you! The blinking light is an anti theft feature. I have one on my Honda. I have to say your vlog has really helped me build up the courage to travel in my van solo. I left last week and ended up returning home when the inverter went bad in my van. I could have cried but I am determined and found someone to help me fix it. Thank you for the inspiration beautiful girl. You showed me we can do hard things!

Nice new ride! I was told the Blinking light is a visual security deterrent. Light implies “elevated” security is in place. They moved the light from the radio to the top of the dash. They’re gone now.

My 2003 Chevy minivan has that same blinking red light. Must have been a Chevy thing.
@@marciaanderson5547 my SUV had one, it’s a Ford then I got rid of it (I think I was duped a little bit, it was still beautiful for a ten year old, only 70k miles), then replaced it with a Chevy pick up and it has that blinking light. I was told it’s a security measure. Supposedly, if someone tries to break in, a loud noise will erupt. Keep your keys by you at all times because God forbid, if you need to take off, you can activate your van by using the keyfob.
For used and new parts call LKQ my husband works there and they sell all kinds of parts and they’ll ship to you.

You perhaps could rise that roof about 6 inches. There should be a way you could add some height without ripping the entire roof off, and it would make standing without cranking your neck possible, and much more comfortable. So glad you found what makes you happy.
Chantelle, I'm so happy for you!! I can't believe how much your new van is like mine! My van is a 2000 Chevy Express and I love it. It's pretty much a no build but I my neighbor built me a platform bed where the third seat used to be. Other than that, I have removable furniture in it for drawers, etc. It really feels like home when I'm traveling in it. Mine came with the TV, DVD, back seat radio, etc just like yours. I took it all out and now have tons of storage space over the cab. Best decision. I can't wait to watch your build and see the finished product. You deserve it! So exciting. :-)
So happy for you Chantelle👍 I know nothing about remodeling or anything, but maybe, in my mind, as you take out carpet, stuff on your ceiling, you might be able to stand up higher. Think it depends on materials you remodel with. Enjoy yourself with all your endeavors, a NEW HOME, yeah🤗👍👌🤓

Love your new van! Nice gas tip: gas burns faster after you hit past a half a tank. So if you fill it at a half a tank instead of on empty you'll save a little on gas.

So exciting. Love your new van. Have you thought of switching the front seats until you find a new one? Not sure if it's even possible, but it's a thought.
That light should be your security, and don't get rid of that radio because its the only way to reset something or turn off the alarm within your security system. At least thats a problem we have on a car, the original radio is gone so now the alarm is always on.

Hi Chantel, I'm a fan and a patreon. Love your new van! As for the seat, be sure to check out a re-upholstery shop... they can do a lot of magic for a fraction of what the Checy dealer is going to ask. They might be able to re-upholster the seat and repair it to just like new conditions for a few hundered dollars. Good Luck!

The seat can be repaired there's nylon spacers in the mechanism they can be replaced you can purchase them off eBay the same thing happened to my van seat you can have the vinyl or leather replaced in an upholstery shop for a few hundred dollars
Having the driver side passenger doors is a huge plus. You can put all the things involving your kitchen there and the water tanks, etc will be easy to service.

I have a Ford turtle top and I really, really want to see what it looks like while you’re removing the top ceiling. I’m afraid to do mine because I’m alone and can’t put it back up if I don’t like it. I hope it’s not too late and you’re already past that stage. Happy for you!

It will take some time to get all the kinks worked out, but this is going to make such a difference in your comfort level. More space!!! You have been in that tiny van long enough. I hope it comes out wonderful. Older vehicles always have issues, which you already know, and have dealt with. You can do anything!

The main thing is if the seat works properly. You can always put seat covers to cover it for looks or go to a reupholstering shop to see what it would cost to reupholster it or repair it. Congratulations 🎉 I’m looking forward to watching the build out.

yes, sell seats and lift, swivel seats both sides, even if driver can only 90° depending on inside c reno plans. Used seats, re-apholstered, professionally or DIY by yourself and you tube maybe...
Love the new van! Reminds me of my parents van when I was growing up! I remember watching movies in the back and the track lights that lit up all around. I used to lay the couch down into a bed a just chill back there in my own driveway! 😂 Congratulations! Awesome find! 👏

I put in two solar panels so I could put in a regular refridge with a freezer. Did not run out of electric even on cloudy days. Was so glad not to hunt down and pay for ice.

Congrats on the new van. Just found your channel today. Airstream Avenue's were built on a chevy express. 2010 - 2012. Only 250 of those existed and not too many on the road or on the forums. So if you are searching for a front seat, that might help in your search. That front overhead storage is nice but you will have a lot of heat build up in that area. If you store anything... esp in plastic... you will have condensation problems. Just keep that in mind. If you leave it completely open you will have too much heat coming into the van. If you seal it off you will have moisture whenever the temps outside drop get below 40 deg. You need to be able to air it out, somedays on a daily basis, to keep ahead of that. Yank the tv. Keep the wood fronts. Place a magnetic bulletin board over the opening that can be removed easily. Maybe put a "L" bracket under at the front and just use velcro at the top. The sides can give you access and ability to vent as needed. USB rechargeable fans work really well for moving air. The wood cabinets are worth trying to save... esp the doors. Have fun!

Congrats on your new van. To save on money and materials lay your sub floor then build out your van then lay your flooring. It will make it easier for future floor repair 👍
Awesome. Ask Dave if he can fix your seat. It’s probably just the latching mechanism on the seat needs repair. Keep checking back at the junk yard pick and pull. Any seat that matches your van should fit.

Hey Chantel, looks like a great purchase and our rigs could all use a little love… I just drove 2424 miles from Salt Lake City to Providence Rhode Island last week. Still in recovery mode. I have a 2019 Chevy 3500 passenger van that I took the seats out and I also pulled my 2200 pound bushwhacker +18 foot camper. Gas was $993 thus far I got a couple of other purchases coming in yet. I did have two 400+ days a 640 mile day and then another 400+ day and made it. One of my new battery wires on my camper dislodge I was unable to fix it so I spent too cold nights in the five snow storms I went through it through in the Midwest on my way here. And today my van won’t start so I have roadside assistance coming to my friends house where I’m staying. But that’s what it’s all about right it’s all about the adventure, the journey, not the destination. Be safe and I look forward to seeing how you deck out Your new ride!👍😊🙏 p.s. I met you at the laundromat in Quartzsite this past winter…

Congratulations, ours is one of those 25+ years old, but it had been meticulously maintained by the first owners and the second owners only had it a few years so, we have a lot less to do. I can't wait to see your build out. At least our seats and toilet were in excellent shape. By the time a vehicle has over 100,000 miles the driver's seat is shot. Your van looks great at your price point.
