For 6 years I suffered from HOCD, but now I'm developing another theme that I'm not even sure if it's even OCD, I think I might have POCD, I started to be afraid that I might be attracted to little children, I look at pictures of little girls on the internet to see what I feel, I have intrusive thoughts but not as often as with HOCD and I think they are not as bothersome, I feel the urge to want to do something with them, but it doesn't seem forced , it's like I really want this, I then start to sound and feel my body get hotter, I can't tell if I'm really attracted to kids or if it's just POCD, I don't want to be a monster and I want to be attracted to girls my age, help!
Thanks so much for this, so much to relate to and such great points made by all - this was really helpful and it felt like ‘real talk’ in a room all together which really destigmatises this difficult subject matter Thanks to you all 😊
I started treatment of ocd in 2019, actually I left relief when we went in lockdown because it felt like everybody else. I’ve been I. Lock down since2007
19 months ago this started for me. I told my partner, friend, doctor I couldn't not I was so scared of my thoughts. Is that normal as ur saying people hide it but I didn't I was do scared I told my partner everything. I'm 40 it started at 39
People may not talk about it as it such a scary theme and the fears involved with it. We also touched on the point of reassurance/confession where someone could tell something all about it as they’re so scared and feel the need to get it all off their chest, so this can work both ways :)
Im starting from zero at 46 but I’m fine with it, now I feel there is hope

There's no harm in telling people if they understand it but like Sam said, that can also become a cycle of venting, confessing and reassurance then.
