Zorzal would be absolutely horrified if he found out how long it took to sink the bismark. it took 3 hours and more than 2800 shells. and even after all that is STILL didn't go down. it took a total of 12 torpedoes to finally sink it. That 1 ship stood against an aircraft carrier, 2 other battlships, 1 battlecruiser, 2 heavy cruisers, 1 light cruiser, and 8 destroyers. it even sank a destroyer before it went down. a 1 vs 15 fight, and the 15 almost ran out of fuel.
From what I remember, the Bismarks crew actually sank her, that old History Channel Show Dogfights had an episode about her, with a couple crewmen from both the Bismark and one from the Hood, the crewmen from the Bismark said they were given the order to scuttle her so the enemy couldn't claim the victory, yeah it didn't help she was filled with holes and had water pouring in by the tons, but her crew sank her not the British, they merely helped her with her transition from Battleship to Submarine

The Bismarck was also critically damaged in the back near the rudder, so it was spinning in circles the whole time. If a torpedo hadn’t hit the rudder, destroying the damaged rudder(from evasive maneuvers) it might not have sunk due to being able to evade the rest of the torpedos.
@@praisetelesto If your intrested there is a documentry by James Cameron that discovered the wreck of the Bismarck where they search the hull and parts of the inside of the ship and u be supriced how little dmg those torpedos actually did. 1 torpedo hit the rudder so it wasent gonna get away and the super structure of the ship is blow to hell and back after the amount of shells the ship toke. But below the waterline where u expect those torpedos would have created devistating dmg there is hardly any. There are some dmg ofc but definatly not enough to sink a ship of this size making it almost guaranteed that once the guns hade been destroyed and they stood no chans the Admiral ordered the ship to be scuttled.
I recently started watching Gate again because of your videos and watching this one just made my day. I love how Itami knows a little bit about the history of the Bismark and I love everyone's reactions to the song. I like Tuka's reaction and how she would like to sing this song with her dad. That would be cool. I can't wait to see the Christmas Truce video next.
I was kinda hoping there would be a "talking about facts", like how long it took and what it took to take down the bismarck, an explanation of battleships and how they ruled the seas until replaced by aircraft carriers and see them shocked that they have ships that can launch what they called 'iron dragons' (or was it flying swords?)
I tried my best to explain as much as I can. Unfortunately, I do not have enough knowledge of the Battle of the Atlantic so I feared that I'd get some things wrong. 😅 Oh, and also, Piña only calls the planes "Iron Dragons" or something. Lelei and some others, however, I'm sure are aware.

Only reason they missed all their shots in the originals is because they were tracking Luke and crew. I think the even more terrifying thing (for the ones from the other side of the gate, not us) is that there were so many rounds fired at the Bismarck that when the ship finally began to sink, it's hull was glowing red hot and the sea water around it was bubbling. This is to mention that it was sunk late May deep in the Atlantic, so that water was c o l d.
The sister ship known as the Tirpitz which was heavier by a few tons and was commisioned on the 25th February 1941 and sunk on the 12th November 1944 outliving the Bismark by some 3 years and a half years

After discovering your channel, I went back and watched all videos. I'm loving the progression of your vids, fellow history buff and Sabaton fan. Wanted to share a fun fact about the Bismarck; when Bismarck left port, he sailed with a German battle cruiser called Prinz Eugen. On board Prinz Eugen was a film/propaganda crew who filmed Bismarck up to and including the Battle of the Denmark Strait. The footage is up on UA-cam. I had a friend growing up who was a direct descendant of Captain Ernst Lindemann. He never talked much about it; the family preferred not to speak too much about their past.

They would hate to know that 55 ships were committed to the chase of the Bismarck. eight battleships and battlecruisers, two aircraft carriers, fourteen cruisers, and twenty seven torpedo boat destroyers, but 16 were sent, but they didn't even sink it. The Bismarck was scuttled, this means the captain deliberately sank the ship. The Bismark was, and always will be the most terrifying ship in existence, only due to its legacy.

I must say this is one of the best gatcha reaction channels I’ve seen, especially in regards to gate. I look forward to seeing what else you will do. If I may request a series of videos on certain events or times. Such as the Napoleonic era or the Cold War. Well, the Swordfish planes while 'outdated' by WW2 standards. They were still lightweight enough for ships to carry them and were easier to handle. Would've been a nightmare to try and manage Spitfires during their days on the ocean.

To answer some questions yes Tuka Bismarck did have a brother ship named Tirpitz but it never sailed the open seas after Bismarck was sunk but that didn't stop the RAF high level bombers squadron named The Dambusters from dropping their payloads and causing the ship to capsize, those metal tubes you saw are called torpedoes and they pack explosives in the head which detonate on impact, after HMS Hood was sunk British Prime Minister Winston Churchill gave the order for all British warships to find the Bismarck, and while at sea Bismarck was being escorted by the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen which had a silhouette similar to Bismarck the only differences were its size and armament, Prinz Eugen had eight 8 inch guns were as you saw Bismarck had eight 15 inch guns and twelve 5.9 inch secondaries mainly used for pounding coastline defenses or destroyers, Hitler's plan with the Bismarck was to have it target the Allied frieghters lines that were supplying Great Britain with food, ammo, clothing, and other essentials since the Nazi's at that time controlled Europe except Spain, Portugal, and Switzerland. At the time Bismarck and Tirpitz were the biggest battleships in the world but towards the end of WW2 Japan claimed the spot with the battleships Yamato and Musashi and each had nine 18.1 inch guns that could shoot up to twenty five miles away, but tragically like the Bismarck and Tirpitz both were sent to a watery grave by numerous Allied air attacks.

Zorzal thinks because Bismarck is sunk he has nothing to fear all we need is to show him that the USA still has 8 battleships that have survived to be museum ships and all but one could take on the Bismarck in a fight and penetrate it with nine 16 inch shells and while it may not be modern Japan does have a pre-dreadnaught battleship which could probably take on any ship that the empire could throw at it.
One fun fact that should've been mentioned, the Bismarck wasn't sunk by the British. It was scuttled (self-destructed) by the Germans to stop the British from boarding it.

it took 3 hours and more than 2800 shells. and even after all that is STILL didn't go down. it took a total of 12 torpedoes to finally sink it.
That 1 ship stood against an aircraft carrier, 2 other battlships, 1 battlecruiser, 2 heavy cruisers, 1 light cruiser, and 8 destroyers. it even sank a destroyer before it went down.
a 1 vs 15 fight, and the 15 almost ran out of fuel.
From what I remember, the Bismarks crew actually sank her, that old History Channel Show Dogfights had an episode about her, with a couple crewmen from both the Bismark and one from the Hood, the crewmen from the Bismark said they were given the order to scuttle her so the enemy couldn't claim the victory, yeah it didn't help she was filled with holes and had water pouring in by the tons, but her crew sank her not the British, they merely helped her with her transition from Battleship to Submarine

@@praisetelesto it should be noted that during Crossroads the ships that stayed afloat the best were German and US ships. This is despite the fact for many of them their backs were broken.
The Bismarck was also critically damaged in the back near the rudder, so it was spinning in circles the whole time. If a torpedo hadn’t hit the rudder, destroying the damaged rudder(from evasive maneuvers) it might not have sunk due to being able to evade the rest of the torpedos.
@@praisetelesto If your intrested there is a documentry by James Cameron that discovered the wreck of the Bismarck where they search the hull and parts of the inside of the ship and u be supriced how little dmg those torpedos actually did. 1 torpedo hit the rudder so it wasent gonna get away and the super structure of the ship is blow to hell and back after the amount of shells the ship toke. But below the waterline where u expect those torpedos would have created devistating dmg there is hardly any. There are some dmg ofc but definatly not enough to sink a ship of this size making it almost guaranteed that once the guns hade been destroyed and they stood no chans the Admiral ordered the ship to be scuttled.
I recently started watching Gate again because of your videos and watching this one just made my day. I love how Itami knows a little bit about the history of the Bismark and I love everyone's reactions to the song. I like Tuka's reaction and how she would like to sing this song with her dad. I was kinda hoping there would be a "talking about facts", like how long it took and what it took to take down the bismarck, an explanation of battleships and how they ruled the seas until replaced by aircraft carriers and see them shocked that they have ships that can launch what they called 'iron dragons' (or was it flying swords?)
I tried my best to explain as much as I can. Unfortunately, I do not have enough knowledge of the Battle of the Atlantic so I feared that I'd get some things wrong. 😅 Oh, and also, Piña only calls the planes "Iron Dragons" or something. Lelei and some others, however, I'm sure are aware.

I think the even more terrifying thing (for the ones from the other side of the gate, not us) is that there were so many rounds fired at the Bismarck that when the ship finally began to sink, it's hull was glowing red hot and the sea water around it was bubbling. This is to mention that it was sunk late May deep in the Atlantic, so that water was c o l d.
The sister ship known as the Tirpitz which was heavier by a few tons and was commisioned on the 25th February 1941 and sunk on the 12th November 1944 outliving the Bismark by some 3 years and a half years

Honestly the bismarck was the turning point in our history where it was the downfall of big ships and big guns, soon it fleets would become more mobile, although when dealing with the Cheestick, who would run a nation into the ground because of his pride it's easy to use that old thing to wreck his army XD

Wanted to share a fun fact about the Bismarck; when Bismarck left port, he sailed with a German battle cruiser called Prinz Eugen. On board Prinz Eugen was a film/propaganda crew who filmed Bismarck up to and including the Battle of the Denmark Strait. The footage is up on UA-cam.
I had a friend growing up who was a direct descendant of Captain Ernst Lindemann. He never talked much about it; the family preferred not to speak too much about their past.

They would hate to know that 55 ships were committed to the chase of the Bismarck. eight battleships and battlecruisers, two aircraft carriers, fourteen cruisers, and twenty seven torpedo boat destroyers, but 16 were sent, but they didn't even sink it. The Bismarck was scuttled, this means the captain deliberately sank the ship. The Bismark was, and always will be the most terrifying ship in existence, only due to its legacy.
I saw this thinking it was among other gacha life reaction videos, but I stand corrected. The amount of detail you put into explaining one of my favorite battleships in history was surprising. Thank you for showing me to not judge content because it looks like others.

Well, the Swordfish planes while 'outdated' by WW2 standards. They were still lightweight enough for ships to carry them and were easier to handle. Would've been a nightmare to try and manage Spitfires during their days on the ocean.

To answer some questions yes Tuka Bismarck did have a brother ship named Tirpitz but it never sailed the open seas after Bismarck was sunk but that didn't stop the RAF high level bombers squadron named The Dambusters from dropping their payloads and causing the ship to capsize, those metal tubes you saw are called torpedoes and they pack explosives in the head which detonate on impact, after HMS Hood was sunk British Prime Minister Winston Churchill gave the order for all British warships to find the Bismarck, and while at sea Bismarck was being escorted by the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen which had a silhouette similar to Bismarck the only differences were its size and armament, Prinz Eugen had eight 8 inch guns were as you saw Bismarck had eight 15 inch guns and twelve 5.9 inch secondaries mainly used for pounding coastline defenses or destroyers, Hitler's plan with the Bismarck was to have it target the Allied frieghters lines that were supplying Great Britain with food, ammo, clothing, and other essentials since the Nazi's at that time controlled Europe except Spain, Portugal, and Switzerland. At the time Bismarck and Tirpitz were the biggest battleships in the world but towards the end of WW2 Japan claimed the spot with the battleships Yamato and Musashi and each had nine 18.1 inch guns that could shoot up to twenty five miles away, but tragically like the Bismarck and Tirpitz both were sent to a watery grave by numerous Allied air attacks.

One fun fact that should've been mentioned, the Bismarck wasn't sunk by the British. It was scuttled (self-destructed) by the Germans to stop the British from boarding it.

In the end all the combined might off the brittish fleet wasn't enough to sink the Bismarck. Its armour held out. The germans scuttled the ship, sank it on purpose so the crippled flagship along with all the technology onboard wouldn't fall into the enemy hands.
