Mind, a nuclear attack is suitably horrific, but 1) I don't recall sabaton doing a song explicitely about nukes, and 2) nukes display the technological superiority of our side of the gate, not the taste of hell that was WW1 combat. In a way, I'd say WW1 was worse than WW2 for the average soldier, because trench warfare was so new there were no safeguards to prevent disease.
This is one of the few songs that gets me emotional. The others are In Flanders Fields and Purple Heart. I usually play these songs on their respective day. Flanders on November 11th. Truce on December 24th-25th, and Purple Heart on Memorial Day. It’s kind of like a tradition of mine.

What would happen if you tried to execute your entire army on that front and your enemy didn't? You would also face a revolt larger than any in the history of the planet, the soldiers joining the revolution. I would hope for him to see this comment because it would be so ridiculous for him not to understand how catastrophic that would be for military morale and motivation across your entire army.

Fantastic video. My favorite one of the bunch so far. Everyone's reactions weer so great. I like how Tuka wanted to sing along with the song. The character next to Itami which I'm assuming is Kurikowa, her reactions were so cute. If that was her, I always liked her character. She seemed so nice and kind to others. I also love that you included a little history about the Christmas Truce as well. I'll say this. I firmly believe this was the most important event/battle of WWI. It shows everything we all want and that the darkness can only go so far before a light pierces.

Aight, we need to deal wiith zorzal, so my idea is put him in the Battle Of Paschendalle. The mud there was so deep during WWI soldiers sunk in it and died. It was basically a cold, muddy, waterlogged swamp.
this song shows even in the most brutal of wars of the dark side of humanity is shown but also the good side. the soldiers chatting playing and even having a drink and sharing gifts is the best thing to happen in that war. it is a shame they had to resume the fight but that one moment of both sides being brothers in arms and friends is a message. to appreciate everything you get in life no matter if its good or bad and to treat your fellow soldier or none soldier with respect and honour. may the souls of the soldiers and none soldiers alike that perished in that war rest well and may the gates of whatever afterlife you or they believed in welcome them with open arms. i salute those soldiers. may we remember them not as pawns in the war but as humans. people with hopes dreams and emotions. rest well brave soldiers. your fight is done. you have earned your rest and may the lessons you taught us never be forgotten
Maybe the Prince should spend a few months in the trenches. I would hope seeing something like the battle of the Somme would humble him a bit. I always imagined one of the top priorities would be to create educational documentaries for the Special Region, especially the royalty, so maybe translating a movie or documentary about WW1 showing just how horrible and destructive it was might deter aggression. Either that or a documentary about firebombed cities, Japan had a lot of those during WW2, so they should know just how destructive modern weapons could be if they had to be used against a city in the Special Region.

Loved the video. Very glad that I came across this channel and very much looking forward to some more Sabaton reactions. Some suggestions that I have are: No Bullets Fly, Hearts Of Iron, Attack of the Dead Men, Primo Victoria, Uprising, Shiroyama, Midway, The Last Battle, The Lost Battalion, Father, Soldier of Heaven and The Last Stand. (A lot of songs I know, but when you have a group as good as Sabaton very hard to make that list short lol) Once again very much love the work you're doing, great music plus great anime equals great channel. another minor nitpick I have is that the education portion in the vids that do have them feel rather short for the song they accompany. This one makes a bit more sense due to your time crunch from earlier posts, but it would be nice to have each bulletpoint fleshed out a little more. Soon the Christmas spirit took hold and German and British troops sang carols and exchanged gifts, some drank and smoked and a now-famous football match took place. But while the soldiers in the trenches had managed to do something not even the Church could do, it was not to last. Generals and national leaders would remove those troops who took part in the truce and ship them to other fronts, some of those men never returning home to see their loved ones again. But let this moment in time shine as a bright example of the spirit of Christmas and good will that man can show unto his fellow man. For while the shells, bombs and rattle of the machine gun echoed elsewhere on the Western Front, for just one brief moment, there was peace on Earth and Goodwill towards Man. Remember them my fellow historians and weebs.. Remember those who never returned from the mud and blood of the trenches of the Great War. Peace on Earth....and Goodwill towards all Man...
My favorite part is "When we celebrated Christmas we thought about our friends those who never made it home when the battle has commence!" That is heartwarming a FU-
To add a little more context, the men in the trenches were also young, away from home for the first time in their lives. So when the gifts arrived from home, it hit them that much harder. The winter weather also froze the trenches, letting the men walk on solid ground instead of ankle deep in mud. And on Christmas Eve, the allied trenches heard the other side singing Silent Night in the original German. The NCOs in the allied trenches then had their own men start singing in counterpoint, to keep morale up. The two trenches dueled each other in Christmas carols, and then later merged in commonly known songs. The Germans also decorated their trenches with small christmas trees, lit with candles and other things. During the truce, someone also set up a barber's chair, so that men from both sides could have their hair cut and beards trimmed for the first time in weeks if not months. Extra History had a really good episode on this, I highly recommend checking it out.

And for the most part, all were Christian’s so that day was a sacred day to us. They asked for 1-3 days of peace among each other. That is how some of the WW1 commanders felt like Zorzal, that they stop fighting for a humble celebration. A hint of Peace in Hell was all they wanted.

The war to end all wars ended nothing. But in moments of greatest darkness, light can poke through the abyss. This wonderful lapse in war was one such candle.
Zorzal what you see before that you abhor so much is what real true soldiers all truly desire and strive for deep within their souls. An that is the days where they stand not as foes but as brother, friends, and kin to one another. Lelei what you're no doubt feeling is the spirit of Christmas the spirit of Christ himself fill you with joy, and happiness just as those soldiers felt so long ago.
Alot of World War 1 soldiers dealt with Hell in the Trenches..... they never were the same when they come back home feeling more PTSD and Trauma... If I had a dime for every time someone roasts zorzal, I would have a lot of dimes
To add a little more context, the men in the trenches were also young, away from home for the first time in their lives. So when the gifts arrived from home, it hit them that much harder. The winter weather also froze the trenches, letting the men walk on solid ground instead of ankle deep in mud. And on Christmas Eve, the allied trenches heard the other side singing Silent Night in the original German. The NCOs in the allied trenches then had their own men start singing in counterpoint, to keep morale up. The two trenches dueled each other in Christmas carols, and then later merged in commonly known songs.
The Germans also decorated their trenches with small christmas trees, lit with candles and other things.
During the truce, someone also set up a barber's chair, so that men from both sides could have their hair cut and beards trimmed for the first time in weeks if not months.

And for the most part, all were Christian’s so that day was a sacred day to us. They asked for 1-3 days of peace among each other.
That is how some of the WW1 commanders felt like Zorzal, that they stop fighting for a humble celebration. A hint of Peace in Hell was all they wanted.
