    Wes Barker is a Canadian magician and comedian doing funny tricks, and telling great stories. You may know me from my TV show Big Trick Energy (truTV, HBOmax, Netflix). Watch here for hilarious, ridiculous, and unfiltered ideas with magic, stunts, and pranks. Either I'm the funniest magician who is also a stand-up comic, or maybe I'm the comic who is the best at magic? Either way you get the idea. I tour all over doing colleges, comedy clubs, and corporate events. Catch the adventures and tricks right here. With this magician / comedian from Vancouver, based out of Toronto, Canada. I make funny stuff. That’s my only rule. Everything has to be funny, from street magic to stage illusions, as long as there is a joke to be made. I do magic tricks, sketches, stand-up comedy, card tricks, mind reading, and tricks with naked people. I’ve been on America’s Got Talent, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, MTV Greatest Party Stories Ever, and Wizard Wars. You can find me pulling pranks on friends, gags on strangers, or just general sleight of hand, magic, illusions, and the occasional bar bet. Wes Barker also hosts a podcast with Chris Ramsay called Bottom Of The Barrel. Go check it out!

      Perhaps, in terms of pairing with a forced card, drawing a hand written number and symbol on the blank card like your own custom A♠️ and then have them draw the actual ace then when they look at the bottom they still see an ace but and obvious fake for a very similar affect. Just tossing out an idea. Or merely writing a message as you said.

    I love this..Always have. I love the Fuck You moment but, if you had to do the trick without it maybe one could write "This is not the 10 of spades" on it? So you'd obviously have to force the card on them but, maybe another fun variation for the easily offended....lol.

    Thanks Wes. The power in this trick is classy. Gave it some thought and tried it with a 2nd deck and WOW! After my first time doing this, the tricks true power began to show. My bald spots began shooting out new hair like bamboo stocks as my body contorted to its 30 year old self again! So I preform it once more. Suddenly my culinary skills were comparable to Ratatouille. And again? Well lets just say I met my future wife! Thank you for restoring my decrepit body of 41 years and ending all financial worry in my life!

    Now Wes. You are a creative guy. How about constructing this as a trick.
    Same setup but you *do* let them sign the card. But when you flip the top card it is the picked card *without* the signature. They will assume you used a duplicate and flip the deck over...... *BUT* The bottom card is a blank card with just their signature. "Oops, I forgot to teleport your signature."
    Or variation;. Get a blank card signed and have it come out as a card the picked with their signature on it.
    Totally different ball park trick but I bet you could do this.

    Oh yes a new Wes video!! And a card magic one--- nice!!! Watching your content always makes my day just a tad better-- you're awesome Wes. Also-- As a Hobbyist who really enjoys learning card sleight of hand-- I am having a serious issue lately of the spec turning their card over too early after I do a DL-- I try to be very clear-- "hold the card between your fingertips and don't move etc"-- but they look too early!!! I don't know-- I really can't tell them after I place a s***** card in their hand-- "whatever you do, DO NOT look at the card"!!! Ugh!!!!

    • @repeater64
      @repeater64 Рік тому +2

      If they're looking after you place the card in your hand, that means the switch is not convincing enough. They believe you may have switched it so they're checking. If you can do a switch convincing enough they'll never look because they genuinely believe they already know what the card is.
      Another tip: Use this patter.
      "Could you just hold out your hand flat for me?" (whilst showing face of the card)
      "Yeah just hold it out flat" (whilst turning over or switching card or whatever"
      "I'm just gonna place this 5 of clubs in your hand, can you just put your other hand on top so I can't get to it?"
      I'd say that's probably gonna work every time.

      @@repeater64 Thank you for your advice. Magic is still just a Hobby- but lately after I get off work I go out and perform at restaurants, etc-- I haven't had this issue nearly as much lately. Your suggestion on how to place the card in spec's hand is much appreciated. Thanks.

    • @repeater64
      @repeater64 Рік тому

      @@DavidM-lj5yv sounds like you’ve got more performance experience than me then! But that advice isn’t based on my minimal personal experience, but rather on things I’ve noticed from good performers I’ve seen.
      I’m curious about the restaurant thing, do you just go up to people and ask to show them magic? Do you ask restaurant owners first? Tell me a bit more about it!

    • @DavidM-lj5yv
      @DavidM-lj5yv Рік тому

      @@repeater64 It's actually a combination of both-- there are a few local restaurants and bars where I know the owner/s and they like when I come and perform magic to their patrons. But more so these days--- I will be at a restaurant with a friend, etc and approach a random table and ask them if they don't mind me showing them a couple things. I usually just start with a very quick coins across type routine== quick and visual -- and then usually they want to see more so I'll break out the cards. I really enjoy it and never thought I'd be approaching random tables of people at restaurants!!!-- I got into magic as my own personal journey while I was going through a very rough divorce a couple years ago. I needed something to apply my mind to after work. But I have found over these past 6 mos that I really enjoy putting myself on the line and performing for random people. I run an Investment Company here in the Los Angeles area. A couple weeks ago another CEO from an Investment Firm down the street from mine asked me to come over to their offices and perform magic in their conference room for around 12 of their top execs-- I was SO nervous-- But I pulled off a great performance and really enjoyed it. So what started as my own personal journey-- has actually turned in to me really enjoying performing for random people. Thanks!!!!

    Neat! Not much good at card tricks but always liked them. Hey Wes I have a question though. You talked about how the person might not look and how it wouldn't necessarily mean the trick went south. But it got me thinking. What trick have you done that went haywire or wrong that made you laugh? Uncooperative or clueless audience member trick or just an oops on your part where you just had to shake your head and laugh.
