This symphonic poem describes Russian Troops escorting an Asian Caravan across the Steppe. There are three themes: the Russian theme, the Asian theme, and the travel theme. The pizzicato travel theme represents horses and/or camel hoofs moving across the landscape. It is a quite lovely experience to listen to these melodies.
