Very good video! What books would you recommend for those who want to dive into Georgian?
as a Georgian who speaks 4 languages i can confirm that This video is great explanation of basic introduction of Georgian.. 10/10
If I may ask, what are the 4 languages? My guess at the first three are Georgian, English, and Russian but the fourth? Kinda hoping it's a related language of Georgian, like Mingrelian, Svan, or Laz.
According to the many videos I've seen, Georgian is quite difficult. But in my opinion and with my experience with languages, Georgian doesn't seem all that bad. Plus you guys have a cool script
I live in the countryside of brazil, never met a georgian, im probably never going to georgia in my life, have absolutely no contact with anything from georgia. But here i am learning their language 😂
Never say never! :)
I visited Georgia and the people there really appreciate when foreigners try to speak their language.

thanks that was so useful
Actually, I am passionate about language. Georgian is interesting....So, I am in..!!
I have learned
These languages threw out my life
I'm originally an Arab
So I learned
Arabic
English
Russian
French
Currently looking forward to learning Georgian and Portuguese
Phonetic, no capital letters, no gender, no 3rd person, no article, etc.? Just like Japanese! Interesting! Then it might be easier for me to learn Georgian. 😄 That makes me want to try to learn it because I love Georgian wine and food!
i've read about georgian for years now, learn a couple songs, i know the alphabet mostly, know some words. i've noticed the v sound (ვ) is pronounced more like a w in english. so when i do roman transcriptions for myself i use a w. also i render the ejectives as capital letters, because the typical apostrophe breaks up the flowing appearance of the word. for me for now anyway
About "ვ" it must be like "v", just maybe we have became lazy, same for "რ", I think it is the influence of English also
i listen to songs from the past and it's prnounced like w, or maybe a very very soft v. i saw the same thing when you said goodbye in your talking :)@@speakgeorgian

I need a Georgian teacher who speaks Arabic so I can understand the Georgian language
No language on earth iş difficult..if it so, we must accept chinese ppl arar the smartest nation🙂..in order to learn any lang. You must.. 1.have a firm motivation..2.build a plan.. 3. Have at least 30 mins per day.4.begin as early as possible 5.have native speakers close at hand 6.write all as much as possible, since nowadays life is fast and we dont like to sit and write, we always trend to watch like watching tik tok videos...
I agree with you❤️ still I think that some languages can be differently difficult or a bit easier for foreigners based on what is their mother language and what other languages they speak

Hi! I´m Austrian and I really fell in love with Georgia! I visited this beautiful country the 1st time in 2014, and I´m planning my next (4th) trip in 2024. I also studied the language hat home with books and CDs.... and yes, I find it not that difficult, than people told me it would be. I was always good at forming sound with my mouth, so georgian pronounciation never was a big deal. The "devilish" ყ... no problem, destinction between for example პ and ფ... no problem! BUT what really makes me cry is your verb system!!! Having different roots for different times or different basic forms compared to personal forms like მოლოდინი and ველოდები. And the fact that you have subject and object inside the verb. For example in Japanese "watashi wa anata no mimasu"...5 words, in German "Ich sehe dich" 3 words and in Georgian simply "გხედავ" 1(!) word. It makes the language very comact and hard to follow native speakers. I often switched to russian in cases like this, if I really couldn´t find the right georgian word. But I often experianced even young people speaking a mix of russian and georgian. I never heared someone saying სამზარეულო, everybody says кухня... maybe because it´s shorter. But the use it in a georgian way like кухнის სართული. But I can eat 10 ხინკალი without wasting 1 single drop of ხორცის წვენი on the plate! 😜
Thanks a lot for sharing, unfortunately you are right, we still use Russian words but I hope soon it will be less and less. The verb os the pain also for teachers as it is on of the most difficult part of Georgian. After ending the beginner level videos, hope to cover these "more difficult" topics. Good luck and enjoy your khinkali😍
I’ve been married to a Georgian for 15 years - the biggest difficulty is pronunciation - I understand a lot but pronunciation for a native English speaker is very challenging.
This is fascinating, thank you. I love languages and I'm intrigued by the Georgian landscape, culture and folk music.
From someone whose native language has articles: Getting used to no articles is much harder that you would think. It's not a deal breaker or anything but man, it is tough to stop using them. My native language is Germanic and about 15 years ago I started to learn a Slavic language and still to this day I overuse demonstrative pronouns as a substitute for the article in that language.
Other than that, sure, I am sure that Georgian isn't as hard as it may seem. But getting use to the different syntax (ERG-ABS system), pronunciation (those ejectives and uvulars), and the insane verbs (I mean it in a good way), ... well, those seem scary but probably aren't as much as you'd think. But OK, a new writing system is also something I would need to get used to. - But if I one day get the chance to learn some Georgian I will take that chance.
How come you the Georgians are so beautiful??!! ❤🎉
Learning Georgian language before going to study mbbs in georgia😎

Hello! May I ask you if you know of the coincidences between Kartvelian and east Asian Languages? The most famous is the number three, which is supposedly "s*m(n)" in very many Kartvelian, Da Nene, and Eastern Asian languages but nowhere else.
Do you know about any more such things and how can languages have a common origin if the speakers today aren't genetically related?
I wish I knew and I could tell you something but I do not know so much about east Asian languages🥺 sorry
Hello, Anna!
Could you please tell me if you know of any courses for learning Georgian similar to Pimsleur courses?
I used the Pimsleur course for Turkish, and despite its superficiality-lack of studying grammatical rules-it really helped me start speaking at some point, overcome that stage where you know quite a lot about the language but can't maintain a conversation.
When you begin to acquaint yourself with a language, it's always good to first establish some relationship with it, to love it, and it's easier to do that when you at least start speaking it a little, rather than starting with textbooks.
Hi, I understand but unfortunately I do not know.
I give classes so I only know mine but of course there are other teachers as well so are giving classes.
Nice method by the way!
