    The Knowledge Acquisition Trap is the biggest downfall, and it even trapped me after being in the industry for a while. Here are some thoughts on valuable action steps that I took as a beginner when money was tight.
    1. Find Longtails that rank easily without Links or with very few links. Write content for that. Every SEO can only benefit by building out longtail pages and learning to optimize and rank them without links
    2. Find organic ways to promote the site. Can you podcast? Outreach? Build out your branded properties?
    When I was getting started, I worked 40 hours a week to pay for the family and 15 hours a week of overtime to pay for my SEO hobby.
    Your thoughts on Technical and Site architecture are so important. It's where I'm spending most of my time right now. Good video.

    • @nathangotch

    Yo Nathan! Great vid! I double my clients revenue and traffic over the past 90 days through organic search. Now I’m close to looking for some more clients. How do you recommend pricing your service? Tricky topic I know! Cheers

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  5 років тому

      That's awesome Kyle, congrats! Depends on your portfolio and perceived authority in the industry. If you're new, it's best to go low. If you have a decent portfolio, you can test higher pricing. The best pricing "tactic" I've used is custom, three-tiered pricing. For example, ($3,000/mo | $5,000/mo | $10,000/mo). This is a deep topic, so forgive me for being vague lol

    • @kylek1634

      Nathan Gotch that’s great advice! I’ll continue to focus on consistent results and gaining authority in my space.

    I just attended a content marketing conference , they say which should mix up short and long content? Is it a good idea to put short content ?

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  5 років тому +1

      Depends on what your objective is. From an SEO perspective, it's best to focus on quality over quantity. From a content marketing perspective, there's value in micro content. That said, I practice 80/20 when it comes to content creation. 80% of my content is keyword-targeted (SEO content) and the other 20% is built for content marketing purposes

    • @giavannivigliotti6174
      @giavannivigliotti6174 5 років тому +1

      @@nathangotch You should make a FAQ/Rule sheet of small guidelines you try to follow. A lot of key concepts can be kept in the viewers memory by a short cheat list. I compile my own all the time while learning about new subjects.

    • @maidsama5520
      @maidsama5520 5 років тому

      Nathan Gotch wow nice, so based on the 80:20 principle for local SEO, it’s actually seems better to focus on directories and local listings instead of content, isn’t it?
