    Yeah, give it a try... I ended up buying 5 of them, and planning another 2-3 more. They've become kinda like a collection within a watch collection.

      @@jamieward3574 lol. Well I suppose if one has a Rolex it doesn't hurt the pocket book as much.😁 But whenever I start to feel a bit addicted to buying something and just before I plunge, I think of the movie Citizen Kane. Out of all the stuff he collected in life the only thing he remembers on his death bed is that damn sled. Usually brings me back down to earth...😂😂

    I blame Random Rob too. I literally have not worn a G-Shock since like 1997 or something, when I was a kidk. Then I bought one...and now I want another. I just wish they were a few mm smaller lug to lug since I have a small wrist, but there's something to be said about a watch you don't have to worry about. I just hate that once you start these, you discover that they regularly release special models. Oh boy.....

    I wore a black square G-Shock essentially every day for 33 years. Then I stumbled across a reference to a watch called the "Tuna Can". I should have just moved on, but I HAD to see what it looked like. Big mistake. Little did I know, that it would be the gateway drug to my becoming a Seikoholic. Oh, I still own 3 G-Shocks.

    I went for the GW-M5610 all black on the combi bracelet and the DW-5600e for gym use. While I love my Vostok Amphibian and Seiko SKX, what am I wearing by habit? Yup, the Combi Bracelet G-Shock. I just love the shock proof versatility, and the no-nonsense accuracy. I didn’t get G-Shocks until I tried them, and now I’m trying to fight my addiction.

  • @Anth230
    @Anth230 4 роки тому +5

    They are nice watches. I remember the 5600 when I was a kid in the early 80's.
    Not really a watch collector. I have had a couple G shocks over the years and now i do again. I don't think they are ugly at all. I would rather have a gshock over a Rolex any day of the week. Not that I would spend the money on a Rolex anyways...lol. Not to offend anyone with a Rolex but they are way over priced and really not all that aesthetically pleasing or interesting at all to me. Gshocks on the other hand are.
    Anyhow I wanted to start wearing watches again because I was tired of pulling my phone out to check the time. So I went back to gshock and got a 5600. But I don't see the need to have more than one or two watches in my life. I collect other stuff a bit and really just like to wear watches rather than have them lying around the house.

    have had my basic model 5600 for close to 9 years now and for years wore it 24/7 as my only-watch, wearing my king g-shock gx 56bb right now and ordered a silver full metal square. and i do feel the same way that i view gshocks as their own collection and would not necessarily count them as part of the more conventional collection except the full metal one that ones kinda in both.

    Bruce: You didn't mention the practicality of the G-Shock. Alarm, count-down timer, chronograph, dual time, and some others. You may buy the G-Shock for the tough build quality but it's the functions that Casio has been putting in these watches for the last 40 years that makes them so good. I've used every function on my G-Shock, and several of them in a single day. I remember before G-Shock had even come out and I was sporting the Casio F-91. That was a very tough watch little watch as well but the strap was/is a little flimsy. Same functions and same lay-out of the buttons. Sorry, I've got to go. My countdown timer just went off. Time to watch another Random Rob live stream.

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  4 роки тому

      Great point. I don't use them to their fullest. Just accuracy and the elapse timer myself

    What I like about g-shock is that it's not "elitist" like the other brands. You can have a g-shock from extremely expensive down to extremely cheap. With g-shock, everyone can own a tough watch. If you are a materialistic person who loves to flaunt watches to advertise your status quo, then wear something else because g-shock won't give you that.
    I have a friend whose dad is very very rich. He and his family hate dressing up to impress though they have expensive cars and big houses. One time, I saw his dad wearing a g-shock! I bet that's the expensive kind-of g-shock but my point is that normally g-shock is never worn by the ultra-rich unless he/she is a humble kind of rich.

    I agree with what you said. I bought my first digital watch since the 70s this year, a G Shock DW5600 BB (all black). I love wearing it, it’s great fun to use and very accurate. I use it for setting my automatics to the right time 😎 I’ll be buying another. I get the same enjoyment from my Chr Ward cosc Trident as I do with the G, but as you said ‘it’s a different type of love’. Nice review, cheers!

    I dont know about the usa or the western world, but in asia, gshock is consider nostalgic and classic for us because when we were a kid, our first watch always was the casio digital dial, and that dial is our childhood and we grow up getting familiar with it. We run with it, play with it, waiting for the second number to approad the break time, coming home time ... lol. No asian kid were givine the seiko or oris or mechanical watches because some other kids will steal it, or we broke it ourselves after 3 days.

    Two Squares is enough for me. I have the M5610BC like you for a classic military look, (but upgraded to matte black titanium bezel!) and the blue GWM-B5000 for a taste of modern Square, I like the resin band on this one. Love my squares but I'd still take an automatic, Christopher ward are outstanding value, double so when on sale.

    I have rp the basic 5600 $30 one and then a moonphase one. I also have a F91w when I want something thin and light. (I also have a Casio keyboard.) I actually prefer Timex for swimming as the buttons are easier to use and has a higher lap capacity. I don’t have any high end stuff, but I do have an automatic Junghans for dressy occasions.
    You can pick up a nice variety of G shocks for not much money, and they last forever.
    There is just something about G shocks that is fun and carefree.

    I never thought I'd own a square but I bought the 5610 and fell in love with them too. I now have the two of the stainless (one with a resin strap), a GWB5600, the aforementioned 5610, and the brand new camo titanium GMWB5000. I love these watches, there's just something about them. I plan on trading one of my stainless in for the all black GMWB. I don't think they're ugly either -- I think they're beautiful in their own way.

    Love your videos..my trigger fingers been hovering over the buy button of the DW-5600BBN-1ER for months now 🤔 and I’m just about there!!! 😲 probably buy and wrap up for myself and have it as my Xmas present🥳
    That green ORIS kinda takes you by surprise and knowing your love for green you must be thrilled to find this local to you...was this a watch you’d looked at before as if it was uk surprised you’d not bought it already or is it one of those WOW once you see it in real life moments 😲 the six o’clock dates a winner too.
