what is it about these chords , so simple, yet so emotionally impact-full: this song grabbed me so much so that I played it over & over after first hearing it....thank you Robin Wilson, RIP Doug Hopkins
Listening to this song transports me to my old bedroom at my parent's house. I was getting ready for school and hearing this song on the radio. 💗I am 41 now, and this song always take me back to that moment.
"Hey Jealousy" is the MOST 90s song. I don't mean "Best". I mean it tells the story of the whole decade in one song. From the history of how it came to be (Doug wrote it) to cheerful sound that has some truly depressing lyrics.
I miss these guys. I’m from Arizona and I think their story is so personal to us (people that were into the local scene in the 90s) I’m glad they are still playing music.
"Never gets old" .... interesting comment....perhaps you mean "always remains:..." relevant, cool, important, neat, exciting, interesting, relevant....shall I go on ? 🙂
@@Sonic_Appeal His voice sounds great and it is a really nice rendition - I’m a little surprised there arne’t more comments on his great performance - the comments are all positive though 😊 which is nice. I do like this but I really love the band version.
This is the musical penthouse ! It just doesn’t get any better than this for me. Sure, there are others in the penthouse, lots of talented people. But there aren’t any higher floors. You’ve reached the top. Song hits me in my soul. Music is such a powerful vessel. Found about youuuuuu !
if any song can be equated to perfection, this song is it....kills the soul, but keeps you singing nevertheless...perfect lyrics, capturing the deep emotion this song reaches...thanks Gin Blossoms, thanks Robin Wilson, thanks Doug Hopkins (RIP brother)...
Still as haunting now 2023 as it was 30 years ago at the Coach House. Still, it's such a tragedy and a travesty that they couldn't find a way to make it work and keep Doug and help him to himself to get over his ills.
Good Eats! I know the resemblance is crazy. I recently went to see them with my daughter and thats when it hit me that we are all truly old now. That was the first thing I thought when he step on stage....what happened to the cute boy with the backwards hat in the Hey Jealousy video....😭
Glad he sings at full power. Some singers tune down on live accoustic performances.
RIP Doug ..the man the legend ..just want able to get his life together ..his writing his legacy..he was the Gin Blossoms..
Amazing song writer. RiP
Yeah, since he committed suicide after this band kicked him out.
@SiberianSoldier Were they supposed to allow his out of control drug addiction and "depression" hold them back?
@@SiberianSoldier The label kicked him out, the band didn't want to.
@@SiberianSoldier he had a drinking addiction and he didnt want to change. thats his fault
I blast their songs in the car and sing along loud as possible haha. This one is my fave. RIP Doug Hopkins
Doug Hopkins’ guitar playing was phenomenal.
Only became a success based off that guy being on elitist hit list.
This song is beautifully haunting to everyone that can relate.
Absolutely, with a capital A sir "Chris Bullis"......
one of my favorite hooks ever "whispers at the bus stop"
Remember buying the cassette in '93. Its just a beautiful album. Listening 30 years later. '23
One of the most underrated bands of the 90's.

I literally missed out on Pearl Jam b/c I was always listing to this band! Love New Miserable Experience.
Still the pinnacle of music that year and easily one of the top 10 songs ever.
Listening to this song transports me to my old bedroom at my parent's house. I was getting ready for school and hearing this song on the radio. 💗I am 41 now, and this song always take me back to that moment.
Wow! Well said. Me too!
I was born 😢in 1978 so this was my anthem for those teenage relationships that just don't work out.
yeah... always struck a chord whenever i hear this song .. but fond memories nonetheless ;)
This song wasn't even around in 1978..
@@SiberianSoldier he literally was saying teenage relationships which means that he was a teenager when this song came out during the 90's.
82 here
42 now but I'm still 13
Dude this guys voice is untouched!! He must have taken care of it, its really not easy to hit those notes after 35 years
Honestly sounds a lot more nasal than the album version. Doesn't sound like he's hitting the notes with his diaphragm. Which is understandable.
He is also tuned down a half step on the guitar. A lot of older bands have to tune down as they get older to hit the notes. Still a great song.
This is not Doug Hopkins.......idiots he died of alcohol poisoning many moons ago
If you're listening to Robin Wilson and the Gin Blossoms in 2024, you're a legend!! Cheers!!🎸
The algorithm
Class of '94 here. Few songs take me back to my senior year of high school like this one. What a great time.
Aside from all the grunge bands, Gin Blossoms are the official sound of the 90’s.

Collective soul and hootie too for me

I’ve owned this awesome album on cassette, cd and I downloaded it. Never gets old. Thanks, Robin and RIP Doug.
Wish I could find it on vinyl

I remember back in the day, Blossoms had one after another new songs on the radio, you couldn’t escape them. It was cool though.
He still sounds amazing! Oh how I miss the 90s and my childhood!
Wow. He takes an already great song and makes it so much more sad, lonely, mournful, and melancholy. I like this better than the original.
Well said.

His voice is actually very expressive. In the 90s version, it was more straight ahead
Greatest band of the 90’s
I saw them in 1991 when I was in college and still love them now!
😂😂😂😂 not even close!
@@justincredible214 I'd say Pearl Jam . . . followed by Oasis
I'd take New Miserable Experience over anything of the 90s including Nevermind, both albums of Oasis, and without question over Ten.
Wore this cd out and STP Purple in that era

Poured his heart out all over the stage. Great performance. Very emotionally charged.
This hits deep. Lyrics and emotion are straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have been listening to alot of GB lately. This album is a classic
Wow...great soulful vocals...u can really hear the poetry of those lyrics! Thanx!
Beautiful, there’s just something about an acoustic version of a song 🥺💜🤟🏻
The acoustic version of a song I didn’t know I needed! 🥰👌
At least its not techno talking.
10 thumbs up!
CHILLS, still one of the best bands
Chills - and yes a great band.
Fkn loved this song since I first
Heard it in mtv or vh1 back in 1994
I really love this band and his voice is still beautiful.
Great song. Nice to finally hear all the lyrics.
Facts. My fav band from the 90 s
Unbelievable! Robin made an already great song so simple and yet so powerful.
Went through something similar in high school with my first major crush. Can totally relate to this song.
that album was / is just amazing all the songs

Omg THANKS SOOOO MUCH!! Blessed be, Gin Blossoms!! The Force is always with you!
Was my favorite song when I was 14 and romantic! Great memories…cheers!!!
HAHA same! Gin Blossoms were like my gateway into Alternative rock when I was like 12-13 years old. I always come back to them!
New appreciation for one of my long time favorite songs
I remember when this song was first released.
Still great.
All the best, Shaun🦉 of NYC 🗽
🙏🏼 forget itttttt alllllllllll
Was not expecting this!!! Fantastic gin blossoms the first band ever one says when you mention the 90s
Was, and still is a beautiful song!
No words to describe how amazing this is! ❤️
Love Gin Blossoms from the 1st time I heard it….❤❤❤
Wow! That was beautiful. It's a beautiful song to begin with but they hear like that
My favorite part of the 90s were bands like Gin Blossoms, Duncan Sheilk, and all the other great bands in this genre. Lastlt, he still sounds amazing.
Such a brilliant song. Amazing lyrics. Beautiful musical composition. This is my new guitar goal.
Damn, that was awesome!
Love this song .
Miss this guy. Grew up having and losing girlfriends to thee songs…I’ll always love this band! RIP. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
FOUND OUT THIS CLASSIC WAS PLAYING 🥰
I love this song
Phenomenal rendition of an all time classic. Outstanding!
Phenomenal 🔥
Can't wait for Sunday. Barenaked Ladies and Toad will complete the jam
So much sorrow...I just can't take it 😣
Very beautiful version of a song I already was
a fan of,this song hits hard in so many ways
This song came out when I found out that the love of my teenage life cheated on me. I'm 47 years old now, the song still cuts the same.
They dont make songs like the 90's anymore. It was an awesome decade.
Awesome version!!!
Los amoooo❤❤❤❤❤ cariños desde Chile 🇨🇱
Great song
Doug’s solo made this song.
I like him solo.
Still playing this song.

Legend right there true fucking legend. Mad respect
i saw at the fair last summer they still rock!!
Gin blossoms and live the two best bands of the 90.s
beautiful song❤
He's still got it.
This is almost a message from Doug to his band mates. From the afterlife. Karmic.
jesus his voice is angels
My favorite roadtripping jam
PERFECT...
Great example of coming up with great melody over a simple picking pattern.
Beautiful, I like this as much as the original, maybe better.
I've always thought about Toad the West Sprocket when thinking about or listening to the Gin Blossoms.

Very nice....
This song takes on a different meaning being played this way.
They need this to be a single.
When did Alton Brown start singing?
