After watching videos from about 6 other "major" channels in the aus 4x4 scene, this was the one that gave me the best directions for my head to wrap around. Thank you.
Finally a video on 12v that i didn't get bored half way though, informative and simple to follow thanks. Looking forward to seeing if the solar is enough as im planning on just solar too if i can get away with it. 🤙

Awesome video mate they’re getting better and better as you go. About to buy a new rig, your vids are great for getting my head around everything. Keep them coming legend
Im glad i'm helping someone out! wiring can be so confusing, but so simple at the same time! thanks for watching mate, i appreciate the comment! more videos on the ute coming soon!!
I'm going to change up my hilux back. adding a thick rubber mat and a 1300mm titan drawer with a 60L fridge slide and a waeco 65L fridge. all on one side of the hilux.
Just found your channel, love it so far just need longer vids 😂 I’ve gone through them all to quick. Subbed straight away keep the build videos coming even if it’s only a quick vid. Easy to watch 👌👍
fifahead000 thanks mate!! That’s awesome you enjoyed it, we just got back from a summerset camp trip! I filmed a bit of it, I’ll edit it and upload it!
Hey mate, loving the little series. Are you running the battery off your alternator or just as a stand-alone with the solar? If you’re running it from the alternator, where’d you run your cables into the canopy from?
Sam Williamson Hey mate! Thanks ☺️ It’s just a stand alone system mate, it’s all I needed! It’s worked great so far has kept up really well! If you where running the cables thru the cab id probly start pulling up the sides of the door sils and run it down the inside of the doors! But otherwise you could run underneath in a conju Thanks for watching mate!
Great job!, my son and i are trying to do a similar setup, however we are a bit confused as to where you wire up the positive connector from the switches?
Young Gunz 4WD hey mate, the panel is honestly awsome! It’s handled really bad hail that we had and heaps of hot days with 0 issues! Sits super flush to the canopy witch is great and it’s super cheap! I believe it charges at around 8amps! Thanks for watching mate !!
Hey mate with your led lights did you just link all there positive and negatives together into one and than ran to the switch? Im a noob and want to do this cheers haha
Hey mate I know its an old video but I loved it still! So you can just run all the negatives to the one earth (the bolt) and then run a negative cable from the battery to the bolt where all of the earths are?
hey mate! i didnt do a list as its different for every setup! i can tell you if you think about how many phones you wanna charge and what you wanna run off your setup you can just go into a shop like Jaycar or Batterywise and find everything you need! they should be happy to help!
Max McKenzie yeah that’s right mate, I only go camping for a couple days at a time and the battery will handle the fridge just by itself, so I’m hoping there’s no need for a dc dc! I’m on a budget at the moment so just trying to be cheap, if I need it I’ll grab it! Thanks for watching!
@@RoamLyfe yeah cool. i am about to have a crack myself (ill need dc dc though) so watching heaps of vid's etc -- yours was great - really enjoyed - and learnt. hope you do more stuff cheers
Hey mate, it’s a king controller from 4wd supercenter! It is about 30$ it’s super cheap, seems to be working alright so far! I’m on a budget at the moment and with that price I thought I’d give it a shot and if it dosnt work I’ll go to a dc dc charger with a solar input! Thanks for watching mate
Hey bud, it’s solar only! It’s really hard to explain but for the camping we do it’s more than enough! I can get 3 days off my battery without sun and when there’s sun it stays full the whole time! The 160watt panel puts in about 8 amps an hour and the fridge draws 2.5 amps an hour and it cycles in and out so you could probly half that! So she’s pumping in a lot more than it’s taking out!
I dont actually know the wire size but its reasonably thick inside! would be plenty for what i'm running! best thing to do is go bigger than you think you need (witch i have)! if youre unsure speak to a bloke at a battery shop close to you!
Mathew Magus canopy is from eztoolbox in Brisbane and it’s 800 wide mate! The accessories are from jaycar, they are all off the shelf! Thanks for watching mate
Hey Mate.. ya killed it.. very informative and good workmanship (not a sparky) can you let me know is this to code? is there a code for automotive? and where are you located
Hey mate! You really need to lookup what Amps you will be drawing and size the wires correctly! All my wires are overkill for what I’m doing but I don’t know the exact size I needed! I just went more than I think I need if that makes sense!
@@RoamLyfe I'm slowly getting my gear together to fit a 12v and solar setup on my 4wd. The one thing I need info on that you have used is the Digital read out display. Could you please let me know the details and where it would be the best place to get one. Thanks

It’s just cheap wood from Bunnings I can’t remember exactly what type sorry!
