BEAUTIFUL looking keyboard
100% Keyboard is just a must have for those in IT. Typing IP addresses on the top row just sucks, and slows everything down.
Agreed 👍 I’m a mechanical engineer, and the full NumPad is really handy when working in CAD packages and dimensioning everything.
For finance, IT and engineering, (maybe other ?), the numpad is a MUST HAVE. Please keyboard geeks, stop hating on the numpad.
Nice that you have the switches assortment, but as a noob learning and trying to find information about low profile keyboards I am not sure which is which drifting the press test
Thanks for the review! I just got my K5 SE and this video helped me figure out if I should get the PBT keycaps over the stock ones :)
I’m glad I could help 👍 Enjoy your K5 SE!
I can only find black keycaps, that are not shinethrough.. 😅 Where did you get yours? The keyboard itself is grey. But I would love to get some black ones.
it's a pity they don't release a doungle for this. everything seemed so perfekt
I'm not sure why, but in this video you can't see how eye searingly bright the LEDs for numlock, OS mode and battery indicator are.
Love the keyboard otherwise though, especially with the mint switches - I was looking for a wired alternative to MX Keys and I'm very happy with this combination.
Low profile keyboards are great since they save on materials for keycaps and is good if you're like me who's char is too short despite being 6 feet.
Can you put full size normal keycpas on this?
Do you think you need a wrist pad with this one? Moving from the logitech Craft and I've heard the mechanicals work better with better wrist support.
I don’t use one with this because it is low-profile, so it is much thinner than a standard mechanical keyboard. It is far closer in height to a membrane keyboard, so I suspect you’ll be OK without a palm rest if you aren’t already using one 👍
Hi my English isnt that good so maybe i missed it.
Are those shine though keycaps standard? I am working in mostly dark enviroments so it would be nice if the letters are ilunimated as well. Like in your video.
I orderd the K5 pro which is descriped as shine trough keycaps but i fear its only means the suroundings of the keys not the letters itself.
Or have you orderd the keycaps seperatly?
The shine through keycaps (grey + orange ones) were standard when I got mine. The allow the backlight to illuminate the letters as you wanted. The white ones are not shine through. I hope this helps 👍
@@JakeReevesVideo Thanks, it will arrive tomorrow.
@@phil17 awesome 👏 Enjoy!
Wish the mic key was orange instead. I just need to see it quickly during meetings.
Good point 👍
Hi, I just bought a K5 SE, but the Bluetooth mode is very laggy I’m on a Mac! Is this also happening to you or anyone out there?
I just use mine plugged in, works a lot better and I dont have to manually turn it on and off separate from my monitor that my m1 MacBook pro is hooked up to
Thanks for the review! Between the reds & browns, which is quieter - gateron or optical?
I think the Gateron mechanicals are a little quieter than the Keychron optical switches - as I said in the review, the opticals are a bit scratchy. The brown and red low profile mechanical switches are both pretty quiet, but to my ear, I would say the tactile browns may be slightly quieter… I hope this helps ✌️
@@JakeReevesVideo Thank you!
You’re very welcome ✌️
Most places you’ll see linear are said to be quieter than tactile, but I think it really depends on your typing style - personally, I find the tactile a little quieter for me if everything else is equal.
I’m find first video with white keycaps🥰 Thanks✌🏽
You’re very welcome Ricci 👍 I hope it helped ✌️
Does it have anti ghosting / nkro?
Any idea if the wired connection can be used at the same time as Bluetooth? I have a desktop PC that doesn't support Bluetooth and 2 other devices that do, and I'd find it a pain to have to turn off Bluetooth each time I want to use it for my desktop PC
It is controlled by a toggle switch on the keyboard, so you have to switch from Bluetooth to Wired or the opposite each time, but this is pretty standard so it may be a common problem across other keyboards as well.
@@JakeReevesVideo Thanks for the info!
Where can I get this exact same keyboard? I love the color scheme of this one and the rgb coming through the keys. Please how can I create or buy this exact keyboard ?
Check the link in the video description. You will want to purchase the extra set of white PBT keycaps to go with it so you can mix/match to match my aesthetic 👍 there’s also a discount code if you happen to be ordering from the Canadian site ✌️
@@JakeReevesVideo Thank you so much!
@@JakeReevesVideo Ok, so I was doing alittle digging on the website like you said. Found the K5 SE, but it seems to not have the option of changing the switches etc. So, I was going to go with the regular K5. Sorry to bother you again but just wanted to know if you could link the exact white keycaps you used in the video? Couldn't find the right bundle for the K5 etc... if that matters. Thank you though. :)
These should work with either the K5 or K5 SE: keychron.ca/collections/keychron-low-profile-keycaps/products/low-profile-double-shot-pbt-keycap-set?variant=40101536170067
They are under accessories/keycaps/low profile
You are legendary!
Where can we get that theme? The only ones i can find are in grey and black
Currently, the white keycaps I used are out of stock, but worth monitoring: keychron.ca/products/low-profile-double-shot-pbt-keycap-set?variant=40101536170067
the default Keychron K5 has shine through key caps ?
I believe so - best to check their site for updates, but unless you opt for the white PBT keycaps or upgrade to PBT, then I believe the ABS ones are shinethrough. This is the K5SE, though I suspect the standard K5 is the same.
whats the difference between k5 and k5 pro qmk
I haven’t tried the pro, but in general Keychron Pro lineups usually have PBT keycaps and QMK compatibility, which means that you can use VIA software to customize the key mapping, macros and lighting of the board 👍 Usually Keychron has a summary of the differences on their new lineups product page (the pro in this case). Best to confirm there ✌️
Why did you not include any sounds of the keyboard typing?
4:00
The lights on it look cheap to me.
Dream keyboard, unfortunately it's too expensive and not available ;/
Do you know if the switches are hot swappable?
They are - but be careful which kind you get because the optical are not swappable with standard pins, etc - you have swap pin w pin and optical w optical, etc. ✌️
@@JakeReevesVideo thank you for responding - really appreciate it. So I recently just got the K5 SE (your video hugely affected my purchase decision, so thank you for the good work), it comes with the white Keycaps, with Red Low Profile Gateron Mechanical switch type (just copying from the website) - is that swappable, and what are the things I need to consider if I’d like to buy the blue switches? Sorry I’m new to all these.
@eli.alcaraz nice choice 👍 You can swap mechanical switches with mechanical switches in that case, so as long as you are switching to the Gateron Blue low profiles, you should be fine 👍 they have the same pins as the Gateron Reds - it’s just if you switch pin layouts or to the optical/mechanical switches where the PCB would actually be set up differently
@@JakeReevesVideo thank you so much sir. Keep up the good work - I’m definitely subscribing to your channel. 🙏
it's a pity they don't release custom keycaps
They said they will have more options eventually, but for now choices are limited…
In this video, some guy is using low profile keycaps from another vendor. I imagine you have to buy the version with gateron switches for that to work. Don't take my word for it though. Do your research , I'm a mechanical keyboard noob ua-cam.com/video/661vYsG3tjw/v-deo.html
Kudos for wearing Marathon GSAR!
It’s a great watch 👍
@@JakeReevesVideoI know. Got myself one from my first salary as an engineer 😁
@kamael83 nice choice 👍
Did you even talk about the typing experience? This seems like an infomercial
Worst keyboard i have bought. This "premium" keyboard don't even have customization software. The Bluetooth is extremely laggy and is unplayable.
