thanks for posting. that '99 team will always be my favorite. the defense and the pitching were just lights out. Leiter had that cutter working in that game.
I remember those years when Al was the ace on that staff. Leiter, Reed, Hampton, Jones, and Rusch. Leiter is still one of my favorite lefties of all time you’ve never seen a guy fight more on the mound than he did.

Leiter was a gritty gamer..when he had that cutter rolling he could shut down any lineup.
Leiter was awesome, plus he gave the bullpen a day off.
Saw this in 3rd grade I think, good memories even though Sox fan !
One of the most underrated pitchers of the steroid era.

probably a better team than the 2000 team. The 1999 Mets couldve beaten the Yankees in the World Series
Al Leiter's cutter was such a pretty pitch to watch.
Ventura, Ordonez, Fonzie and Olerud. That was one hell of a defensive infield. It's too band Ordonez couldn't hit his way out of a paper bag.
Yeah he couldn't but damn he had a serious glove on him. And yeah , this was an amazing infield.
Mets need to bring those hats back
One of the best lefties out there!
The Reds had Astroturf in 1999?
yeah that was still riverfront stadium
The Reds always had Astroturf at Riverfront up until the last season they played there.
I remember watching this lmao Jack McKeon managing the reds
Anyone notice that the 1B had a batting helmet on while he was in the field?
John Olerud had a metal plate in his head. He was called "Johnny Hardhat" on account of the helmet.
@@TheUntakenUsername Jim Rome called him C3POlerud.

There was a guy like that who was a teammate of Rickey Henderson
