Darren, I used Honey Robber this year and loved how effective it is! Unfortunately it is also VERY effective at killing your love life!!!! The wife was downwind of me when I pulled up in the driveway after pulling supers and made me go straight to the shower. A week later I can still catch a whiff in the back of the truck. Honey Robber is good for running off bees, and pretty women!
Hey Duck River. Yeah it’s some stinky stuff. 😂. Those clothes go straight to the washer. Smell like sweat and vomit 🤮 😂😂. But it does work fast and it's easy.
Your honey harvest will yield not one pound more than the Lord has Blessed you with this year. For your efforts of beekeeping, stewardship of the land and sharing of your journey I'm guessing you will harvest a great Blessing. You'll get extra attention and poundage for the wildlife trail cam videos. :-) thanks for sharing
I'm hoping to pull honey this year but my area is suffering exceptional extreme drought. Fingers crossed. The hives are strong. I guess you pulled 1,250 pounds. What a job. Great videos. I really enjoy it and appreciate all the time you put into is for others to enjoy. Thank you very much for sharing with us. Happy Beekeeping.
Thanks Jim. I think we got everyone else’s rain. It’s been a really wet summer for us. I think three weeks in June it dried out a little and then it hit again in July and really hurt the bees forage ability. Half of my honey was uncapped this year. Thanks for stopping in.
Congratulations on another successful honey harvest! My guess is 523lbs. Not sure where I get the number, but what the heck, go big! I’ve harvested 170 lbs so far, they’re still working the honey supers, so will probably give them a few more weeks. With that hydrometer, you’ll have to start making mead, I started to make it this year and it’s a fun hobby. Not like I need another hobby! Take care. 😊🐝
I am guessing 450 pounds…love watching you bee guys…. Fascinated by the bees but way too much work in my retired life… my yard is full of pollinators busy doing their thing with the all the plants we specifically planted for them!
Great video…man you looked warm. I have used a dehumidifier successfully in the past. Here in the Great Lakes area, it is commonly get even capped honey up to 20%. So I often take some uncapped and used it to pull down overall moisture content by stacking them in a room with a box fan and dehumidifier for a few days. So my guesstimate of your honey take is 515 lbs. I hope it is more!!🐝🐝🐝🍯🍯🍯
Darren, I’m glad that you took breaks and got something to drink! You really have to be careful in that heat and humidity! I was going to say 383 but I’m going with 426 pounds of honey. Staying with Mopar engine sizes for honey guesses. lol. Maybe the Super Bee guy will appreciate that!
@@JeromeBeeFarm I know it’s better than a slant six 225! I bet it’s better than the 318 both were tough engines.. I still have a Dodge Ram with a 360…. 98 one owner I bought new in 98. Hey Rob. Yeah they are great until they melt then you have to get it off to get some ventilation. I was wishing it was on me there for a while. Thanks for watching and take care.
The magic height for skunks is 18” according to research done by Fredrick Dunn. I have horizontal hives and landing board at 19” skunks on trail cams reach up but quickly abandon attempts. Hopefully next year you guys have better weather!
Hi TW. Mine are on cinder blocks plus a 4x4. Probably about 10”. If I put them higher I’ll need a work stand to get those top supers off. And I’m 6’2”. 😅. I have temporary electric netting input up every fall. Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Husky. Well, I didn’t really think about it at the time. Most of it was capped, and the rest had honey in it, so I wouldn’t expect to find her in an area like that with no place left to lay. Thanks for stopping by.
I'm going to have to get a Dehumidifier myself... I left my uncapped on the hives so i will have to do another harvest, Thanks for the videos as always they are very helpful. 518.4 lbs
It's been a difficult year for sure. Mine are exactly like yours, delayed capping. Did a 2 hour hive check today and sweat like an open faucet. All are queen right and full of brood, but not so much on honey and the majority is uncapped. Pretty disappointing. I'll guess 405# for your harvest.
Hey Jon. Yeah sounds same as what I got. After I sorted them out half were what I consider uncapped. Some were almost all uncapped. I did some testing today and glad I did. That’s the next video. Take care.
Jerome, you can really sweat. You should try one of those rechargeable neck fans you can get on Amazon for $20. They'll run about 4-6 hrs and keeps your head a lot cooler. The buzzing sound is a little annoying but when it's hot it's tolerable. My guess is 287 lbs. Hope it's more. Stay cool, at least you rested and cooled off for awhile, wisdom in your old age. LOL
All I do is put a 12 inch fan over the top flat and have it up off the top of the counter and let it blow for a few days it came off the hive at 15 1/2% can’t beat that
I made the mistake of ordering a refractometer from amazon and did not read the full description and it was for sugar content in homemade wine/beer etc. Returned it and got one specifically for honey and it works really well.
Just put up a video on how to calibrate a honey refractometer properly. The instructions that come with the device are incorrect. If you are interesred search G&H Honey Bees🙂
555Lbs extracted Brood above the queen excluder, Oh boy, Again we seem to be sharing the same issue, Happened to me 3 times this year in 3 different yards. All 3 times were after I split them leaving 2 queen cells in each hive. All the queens emerged except after they all mated 3 returned to the bottom like they were supposed to and the the other 3 returned and instead of getting turned away or killed they made there way up to the top and went in the notch under the inner cover into the supers and stated to lay. Needless to say I had 3 extra mated queens to find a home for LOL. (Note to self) when leaving multiple cells after a split, close the top notch, LOL
That’s only the second time I’ve had that happen. I need to check and see if that queen is marked, or if she’s a new one like you said. Hey Dan, at least you got an extra queen out of the deal 👍👍🐝🐝.

It's got five deep supers I said I needed to pull some off because because the bees get lower numbers in August I didn't want them to try to protect all that honey but it wasn't ready but one box in the hive so I took it and put the next box in the hive. Now it's three but they're all not cap imagine I said that right
I wouldn’t risk it without testing because it’s been so wet this year. Normally I don’t have near that much uncapped. Nothing about this year has been normal. 😂. Thanks for watching and commenting.
