Only at about 20 minutes, so this comment may be premature, but when trials are diverse and relentless, it makes one wonder "why keep trying?.........why have goals?...........why look for the next rung in the ladder (or the next ladder)........when doing so just sets one up for the next volley of trials?" But yes: "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all."
I find that two things are important ...in our anger we do not sin (Ephes. 4:26) and should we be disillusioned enough to fall into sin, to have a goal of continued repentance. We will never be rid of sin as long as we're living but we should dedicate ourselves to align OUR wills with the will of God. Holding on for dear life to Philippians 1:6 ...Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will carry it out unto completion until the day of Christ Jesus
“so that the genuineness of your faith, which is much more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested and purified by fire, may be found to result in [your] praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:7
My goals are to live Godly each day in Christ Jesus. I have had many years of overwhelming trials and temptations, in one now with fear of impending doom. Each day is full of evil yet we are more than conquerors! My faith is deep because of troubles. I can rejoice. No longer shallow chasing pleasures. Trials make us strong. I could of gave up a long time ago. My pleasure is the word and good teaching. Endure the trials, endure the temptations. We do have a reward. Don't give up!
