  • Hi all!
    Here Is a new review of the stinger from AceJet and Is designed by world famous knifethrower Adam Celadin. I also test and broke the endgrain target also sold by acejet!! This target was immediatelly replaced by AceJet (when they saw my video) as a warrenty claim! They will look in to why this target wasn’t as good as they usually are. Super response! 😊🤙

    I test the durability of the blade by hammering it in to a brick!! 🤘😅
    I will test the blade by throwing a lot of instinctive throwing!! Military half spin, no spin, SKANF, rotational, instinctive halfspin and variants of all those!!

    Who am I?
    I am a knifethrower, axe- tomahawkthrower and now also a slingshot shooter! But I identify as a soulthrower due to the fact that knife throwing and tomahawk throwing is good for my soul. I throw knives no spin, rotational and military halfspin. When you want to learn knifethrowing and/or tomahawk throwing you should do your research and look at many knifethrowing and tomahawkthrowing enthusiasts and re-search different throwing knives. One throwing knife can look good but doesn’t always fit you and/or your style of throwing. Try different knives and styles until you find your own way.
    The most important thing about how to throw knives or a knife or how to throw a tomahawk is to do more of what ever works for you!
    Now go throw and be a legend, and spread the love! 😊🤙
    Your throwing brother!

    Great review, Marcus.
    And thanks for including the miss - it would have been so easy to edit that out, but the reminder that even throwers as good as you miss the target occasionally is welcome for those of us following the road.
    Re the end grain target:
    Yup, building your own is the way to go, if you can. I built a 44” x 32” end grain using scrap 4” fence posts cut into 8” lengths, glued and screwed together, screwed to a backboard, and with a surround also screwed on. 8” thick, all screws at 6inches below the target surface. Yes, it’s heavy, but it has stood up to 4 months of regular throwing of knives from 5mm up to 10mm thick, plus 1.5lb hatchets. I’m hoping it will last at least as long as the oak log round that preceded it. And, apart from the glue, it was all free. Even the screws were surplus from other projects.
    Those Stingers are gorgeous, albeit eye-wateringly expensive. Most of mine came from old files, annealed, ground to shape and re-hardened/tempered, and I made a set of Arrow-ish clones from 5.5mm C75 - the whole lot including consumables cost less than three of the Stingers. Yes, I could have saved myself an awful lot of hours of work by buying some (and if I costed my time as well, probably saved money too), but where’s the fun in that?

      I agree bro!! I wouldn’t have had this many knives if it wasn’t for the reviews, winning knives, gifts and I also let all Swedish throwers come and try them out. Otherwise I would probably have one set of blades for each style of throwing. 😅
      I had one 1 meter X 1 meter target 15 cm thick in the beginning with a backboard and all individually screwed from the backside. I held up outdoors for iver 2 years!! 🤘😊

    These are excellent Arrows to throw.
    Eventually a mm or so of the tip will be lost if you have a harder wood target board and brick wall backstop like i do. But these are going to last for thousands upon thousands of throws. Normal maintenance, including some file work, is inevitable; just goes with the territory.
    In my book these Ace Arrows are worth every penny. The important bits are they throw true and will last. Great design, well made..

      I agree 100%!! They are amazing!! I have heard that some want the edges more rounded but I really liked the 90 degree sides… felt like it gave me more control. 👊😊❤️

    • @boon9329
      @boon9329 3 роки тому +1

      I had the same experience with the stingers. The factory tip is just too acute. The last 1mm or so of the tip bent over after just 2-3 days of throwing. I rounded them off a bit and they've been good since then though

    • @soulthrower
      @soulthrower  3 роки тому

      @@boon9329 I would do the same!! If the tip bends when it is this thin it is not surprising and you don’t need it to be this pointy. 👊😊
      When you Robin Hood them in to each other this would be inevitable. 😅

      @@soulthrower In normal use if throwing for groups,, so they do hit each other at occasionally, then the edges will get filed round in the end to remove burrs. They're wide enough as it is.
      Their weight means they stick with power. The poker-dots on my brick wall prove that.
      Once throwing knives were 4mm. them six, and now eight. 4mm was on the slim side. Under 4mm made things difficult. I think 6mm is plenty for beginners and general use. The Stingers hold a lot of power, and if anything a bit much. Depends what you want.
      Targets then they all get punished. Throw axes then badly quickly. Good thick pine roundels, well a softwood, do hold up for quite a while, which is what I use. Problem is they should be cheap. Expensive to ship. Not easy for many to get hold of. Retailers that offer anything are never going to please those that can make their own cheaply.
      All good fun.

    • @soulthrower
      @soulthrower  3 роки тому

      @@muskett4108 I agree!! 6mm is plenty but I throw the 8mm so much better… I don’t know if it is the extra weight or the thick spine but it works. I might be concerned that if you are a beginner and throw these 5 hours a day for two weeks they are heavy but…. We all done that when we found knife throwing. 😅🤙
      The holes from these doesn’t close as easy as a regular blade from for example the Apache… but I don’t care… I just like that punch they deliver!! 🤘😁❤️

    Just a thought , but why not try spraying or soaking the target in water for a while to swell the pieces of 4x4 thus tightening the blocks within the frame?

    • @soulthrower
      @soulthrower  Рік тому

      They rekommended not to do that because that would crack the frame. 😅

    Hi Marcus, Did you water that target? It looked pretty dry. You might have better results if you water the target. I throw Stingers and Arrows from Flying Steel and i love both the designs for different reasons. The Arrows are a little easier to control and manipulate for trick shots and are so well balanced they are a joy to throw. The Stingers are beasts that give me satisfaction like no other. Both designs need maintenance with a metal file and sandpaper to take care of the burs that happen when the knives hit each other, and that's normal. Thanks for the awesome video!

    • @soulthrower
      @soulthrower  3 роки тому +2

      In the information that came with the target you are not allowed to water it at all… I will probably try to enhance the corners with long screws and the water it when it is even worse but for now I will throw bo shurikens on it that doesn’t do the damage that to stinger does. 😅🤙

    • @soulthrower

      I wrote an answer but I think it disappeared… I’m in the woods camping… 😅
      In the advice how to use the target you shouldn’t water it…. I will probably enhance the corners and when it gets even worse water is a bit… for now I will use it for bo shurikens that doesn’t pack as much punch like the Stingers. 🤘😅

    Put it for few hours in water, this will help a lot. The wood will absorb the water, it will swell and will stick together.
