I was in my 20s in the 80s, and, yes, I listened to OMD, New Order, Depeche Mode, etc. Now I listen to 80s music only occasionally. Mostly I'm listening to music from that last 20 years or so - Arctic Monkeys, Interpol, and now Fontaines D.C, among plenty of others. 80s music can be too iconic and too familiar. However, Nation of Language is new, fresh, and exciting! and brilliant!
This is the worst year of my life so far. Let me just say that riding my bike to work, taking the public bus to college, walking these streets with your music ... you have encouraged my heart in many ways. Thank you Nation. God bless.
Hi Aubrey, hope you feel better soon. My college years were tough too because my parents lost their home. Remember you got your health, beauty, (and hair), at your age. Sending you good vibes.
Hang in there. Things change all the time and hopefully will look up for you soon. "Wounds of love" by this band makes me feel better when I am feeling a bit sh*t.
Aubrey I rode my bike back and forth 5 miles to school listening to the cure Depeche and omd. You’ll make it :). We all did. And btw music is an inspirational story set upon out heart for us to discern and to understand and apply it unto ourselves. :) you’ll make it
And the “bouncing” synth sound repeating in it sounds SO familiar, like it’s sampled from somewhere on the tip of my tongue… Edit: it sounds like it was sampled from The Chemical Brothers’ Where Do I Begin.
Love this! Love all your music! Please PLEASE come to Houston. Also, you guys along with the band, “Automatic” would the best show ever! Hopefully ….at some point, the stars will align. 🤞
Saw you at Thingfest then ran into you all in the Nacho lineup afterward lol. So great seeing you, and meeting you and thanks for listening to me and my friends blabber our life stories to you. Come to Victoria or Vancouver!!!
In the park alone so suddenly You get swept aside with friends like these From the hill I see them passing From the hill I see the river's freezing On the hill, everyone for themselves Then it comes apart And it's so hard, everyone for themselves It comes apart And I want the days when I had no shame Coming by the house, calling out my name You were always walking over You were always walking over me On the hill, everyone for themselves Then it comes apart And it's so hard, everyone for themselves It comes apart We're a long way from the easy days A long way from the easy days We're a long way from easy days Over, over You were always walking over me On the hill, everyone for themselves Then it comes apart And it's so hard, everyone for themselves It comes apart
@@jacobspencer5755 of course. They are original in their vibe, but for a guy who loves 80s they do sound similar to ocean blue or omd in their sound which I totally vibe on, but yes they are very much different in that aspect also. Which I love. Original Nol is also. Youthful and full of love. Great bad:)
Honestly, this song wouldn't sound out of place on The Arcade Fire's The Suburbs album. As though Arcade Fire decided to make The Suburbs II instead of Reflektor if that makes any sense.
When did this song come out? It sounds kind of 80's to me. Once in a while I tune in to the local college station and end up listening to some really cool music.
Nice sounding song 🎵 Don't get the inside jokes anymore What's up with making me stare at your shoes 👞 👟 👀? This video 📹 be confusing to me after I was one of the ones against the wall and eye 👁 worshipping yous and giving yous money 💰 2 (too)

love NoL of what I've discovered so far. Fontaines DC is absolutely brilliant too.

Good less you. My bike saved my life.
I just heard this song the end of it on Sirius satellite radio channel 35 and immediately found it on UA-cam and gotta say it did not disappoint
Same
Same x 3
Heard this on a friends 2023 toyta tacoma (free trial sirius xm) anybody else? 😂
I feel like I’m in a time warp listening to the Roq of the eighties. And it’s a welcome feeling
What a band. I was to young to appreciate early 80's and to old to care about new stuff....this is astonishing...thank you NOL
I bet if you go back and listen to mid 70s punk forward you will appreciate it much better. Just listen to my 80-90s set.
"too"
The instrumental part at 1:50 is SUCH A BOP. So much of what I love about NOL is contained right in this fifteen seconds or so.
Absolutely love it. 😎
And the “bouncing” synth sound repeating in it sounds SO familiar, like it’s sampled from somewhere on the tip of my tongue…
Edit: it sounds like it was sampled from The Chemical Brothers’ Where Do I Begin.
It sounds like Chris Isaac and Twin Shadow mashed together! Love the sound.
Director loves boots. :) 👍
Hands down one of my top 2 fav bands in recent years
who's the other one!
I’ll say I have 2 more to be fair… try Haunted Youth and Deserta
Take care of dogs! They’re the most special and lovely loyal companions who put their trust in our hands.
Best song right now
Loving this band after discovering recently 😍
Every song every lyric 👍❤️
SiriusXMU likes you. I do as well.
That's how I discovered these guys.
This song is fantastic.
Damn- it’s like Harry Potter but with confidence and musical talent
I like the way the vocalist goes ooooOohhooOoh. Reminds me of Morrissey's oooohHooohohHh's
I love this band. Greetings from Argentina
Feel this
Jeez man this is so brilliant.....Immediately love it from first listen. Strength to strength this band are amazing.
This song makes me feel good.
Reminds me of some old school OMD. like it. Synths very 80s style.
Love this! Love all your music! Please PLEASE come to Houston. Also, you guys along with the band, “Automatic” would the best show ever! Hopefully ….at some point, the stars will align. 🤞
Agreed-both great bands. They should tour as co-headliners.
Music makes everything better. Thanks for the gift of yours. 💫
Another masterpiece from beautiful artists. I can never sit still when I hear you!!
Another fabulous song, arrangement, production with wonderfully emotive vocals. 🥰💚🌱🥾👢
Thanks hand for introducing me to this band
This should have 5m views. Keep going NoL.

Amazing band

And it's so hard, everyone for themselves
It comes apart

Coming by the house, calling out my name

You were always walking over me
On the hill, everyone for themselves
Then it comes apart
And it's so hard, everyone for themselves

We're a long way from the easy days
A long way from the easy days
We're a long way from easy days
Over, over
You were always walking over me
On the hill, everyone for themselves
Then it comes apart
And it's so hard, everyone for themselves
It comes apart
Nice 👍🏽

I'm gettin' a Yaz / Alison Moyet vibe from this. Dig it.

Spotted members of Gift in a couple shots!
Some INXS vibes on the video🥰
More like omd.
@@darkmantis69 they have hints of many things but at the end of the day they are NOL and that is something completely different and amazing 🤘

@@darkmantis69 true that!! Very glad I found them every song is just as good as the last.
Does anyone else pick up a little Brian Ferry vibe from these vocals ?? And I mean that in a most compilmentary way.
How did this not make the album?
❤
Please someone has the lyrics ?

the eighties are back
**stomps foot and howls**

on sait par quoi on est passé OK 👌

In 2022 iirc
Could someone help me with the lyrics of this song? please 🥹🖤
I'm almost too wrapped up in the music to decipher lyrics.
Shiny, Shiny, Shiny boots of leather… 🍌
A step back...I have doubts for the future music of this band...
Nice sounding song 🎵
