”The renaissance was just something that happened to other people.” 🤣
This is Spanish for "what will be, will be." This is something you say when you are stuck in a hopelessly unchangeable situation, but have come to accept, or even embrace the unchangability of it all. This is similar to the phrase "it is what it is."
Doctor: I regret to say that your mother-in-law did not survive the surgery.
Guy: *attempting to suppress a smile* Oh well. Que sera sera.
@N.A.R Channel you really make me smiled, i'll made a video of 60 ways to tell you thank you
Unless you're immortal then you have to agree.
Your statement is blatantly true, idiot.
Logic is king, and absolutism is key.
N.A.R Channel r/getlost
Actually pretty true as well. The cultural renaissance only really impacted the absolute elite of european society. Pretty much everyone else were stuck in the dark ages
It's actually 5 beans. 4 beans + Mr. Bean.
that is so true
*Mind Blown*

Indeed. For the peasant class, finding sufficient food to eat was more urgent than the esoteric mathematics of the upper classes.
I always liked this scene. While Black Adder always talked down to Baldrick, the fact that at this point in history he was willing to TEACH his servant maths meant he had at least some level of care/respect for him.
It soon passed
@Ei Dirst I share a lot of Blackadder's personality traits
Blackadder is one warm and wholesome human being beneath all that sarcastic persona of his...
What was more surprising was him wanting Baldrick to have free thought.
Why hello there Mr Scratch. Funny thing is you're trying to be considerate and kind now... better tell people who you are and what you did to Alan Wake!
How these guys kept a straight face the whole time especially Baldric is impressive

Baldrick's Logic
The subjective, anti-reductionist perspective. Quite visionary for the time!
Some beans and some beans = 4
Gonna say that to my maths teacher
Sad thing that the renaissance was something that happened to others
A genuine example of someone who 'could only count up to three'.
Baldrick actually does some basic algebra in this. He understands that 2 beans + 2 beans = three beans plus that one or 2+2=3+1.
Plot twist, baldrick creates the algebra to justify his answer

Bigpot😲
Baldrick is a poet and an abstract thinker untied to worldly constructs
My favourite comedy with Rowan Atkinson. It's a pity he's better known outside the UK as Mr Bean. The Blackadder series' were in my humble estimation superior in everyway to Bean. I wish they'd do another series...
I agree. Blackadder is superior to Bean without a doubt.
I would not say it is superior. I think Blackadder is not for everyone even though it is smart and well written. Mr.Bean comedy was for everyone. The fact that people of different cultures and languages could still enjoy Mr.Bean is a true feat in itself. If it can be enjoyed by everyone then the humour is absolutely genius.
Bulgarian here! I think that Blackadder is light years better than Mr Bean. All 4 seasons.
Greek here. We had Blackadder in the 90´s on TV, he was already known as Mr. Bean. Blackadder is better, but most people cannot even judge that, and would vote for Mr. Bean...
I much prefer Blackadder but Mr Bean was perfect for the Olympic ceremony and wonderfully funny in that.
Still after all these years, the best TV series.
British comedy is the best. Cheers from norway.

As someone who has dyscalculia and was in the bottom set for maths all through school, this is what our lessons were like.
We all have weak spots. Mine is computers; they just don't speak my language nor, more importantly, do they use my logic...
And R. Atkinson, as someone with the mathematical ability required for his later degree in engineering, will have observed this scene many times. From across the classroom at school, in his youth.
He didn't write the lines, but his comedy is often VERY well observed.
Had to get all of the series in a box set.. Laughter is pure medicine
