The advantage of owning a house versus renting a lifetime. In other countries rent now went up to the roof. It will happen in the Philippines in the next 5 to 10 years. 1) 30 years ago rent in Canada was $350. Now it is $2,200. 2) The house before was $110,000 but now it is $1.6 million 3) You do not need to buy the house. Just buy land and slowly build a decent house worth less than P350k 4) Watch a vlog of a lady in Cebu who built it for P200k 5) The land can be 15k during the pandemic (Just Back Pack did it) but now maybe P150k 6) Renting will give you nothing in 16.6 years. But buying a lot can leave you a lot of money. 7) Be smart. Start a future by buying a small lot. Land or lot will not devalue. It will only get higher. 8) Land or farm is unlike a car or equipment that will go from high value to no value.
We do not want to be tethered by house and land, we have other plans for life. If we have a financial surplus perhaps we will buy some nice land for the future. Thanks for comment and Your point of View.
Hello from Canada. I finally got to travel in 2022 when my youngest daughter graduated university and got a good job. I had used the excuse of still having one kid at home for the reason not to travel. When I couldn’t use that as an excuse I hit Thailand for a month in 2022 and loved everything about it. In 2023 I am planning a month in the Philippines before I head back to Thailand for a month. The only negative thing I can say about Thailand is the lack of English being spoken. The more Videos of yours I watch the more I’m thinking the Philippines might be the best place for Longterm plans and great home base to Travel other places from. The two of you have great energy together.

Make sure it covers all medical aspects incl cancer, heart etc etc. I have insurance, I have cancer, my bill is over 7 million baht after three operations and chemo etc. Luckily I had this cover. Thanks for sharing you guys.
Someday if you find a interested farming. You can rent or lease a place outside tge city. I recommend raising Ducks, goat, and chicken. Its low maintenance and you can make money. I saw a video of a Japanese guy in Negros renting a land for native chicken poultry.

I think the real deals are found from word of mouth, on the filipina’s side. As a foreigner, you will be taken advantage of handling the negotiations on price. Let your filipina do that with her family.

But if you care for your long-term partner/pilipina you need to think for her future and your kids if you have any? I presented my point of view with calculations. How do you know that your children will want to live in this old house or live in this country ? I'd rather leave them some more liquid assets than an old house in the Philippines. Dauin, Bacong, or Valencia. That's what we can recommend. They are all close to Dumaguete which you can have almost everything you need.
