Hey Pratik, would you ever integrate this into your retouching workflow? Are there any downsides that you have found? Cheers

For some reason I've never though about using this software for photo's. I have used LUTS on video but the transfer never occurred to me. The fact you could get so much form a JPEG blew me away I think a good play with a raw file is needed thank you for sharing this out there! :)

+Andrew Randall I wasn't expecting that out of a JPG either! Was pretty surprised.

Suppose I shot a Colorchecker with a film camera that has Portra 400 or Provia 100F. Could I use the TIFF of the colorchecker film image to create a 3D LUT for future digital images? So that I could shoot digital all I want and could get the "exact" colors and tones of the film image onto my digital files.

      yes, kinda :)
If you will shoot the same colorchecker in every lighting scene, then you can match it with the film shot in the program, getting the exact effect.
That is the perfect way to get the same film look.
Another way, more efficient, but less accurate, is to make a LUT out of the film shot, that will make the same effect as it did to the colorchecker, then you will need to make the digital photos "perfectly correct", and then apply the Film LUT. That won't make the exact colors, but will get you very very close.
In total: to get EXACT colors you need to match shots of colorchecker in digital and film shots every time you shoot. And to get very similar colors, you can make a LUT from film shot and apply on a correctly processed digital image.
I hope i explained the difference in approaches :)

SunriseInTheMidwest Not really. You could match the colors HOWEVER the white balance would not change. So you might wind up with some weird color transformations under different lighting scenarios.

Holy shit. I've been using LUT's for video, but I've never been able to find the equivalent for photos. This program does it!
