    When Ryan Poles speaks it’s always in some aspect measured and tailored as to what message it sends to the other guy. You don’t want to give away if you think your short on picks and need more. But what he says makes sense when you think about how many picks the Bears have had over the last three years. It just seems like this is a unique situation to capitalize on. A draft deep in receivers and OL men. And the top five picks are all something else a historic run on QBs. That just makes that stretch from 7 to 20 so much more valuable then it might otherwise be. So Odunze a game changing receiver at 9 or trading down for the 14 and 45 you could add two really nice quality pieces. A Franklin or a Mitchell at WR and Mahogany or Bebe at OL. Plus possibly one or two excellent RBs in Brooks and Jaylen Wright could be there. Yes offense and setting up a generational QB right now is the priority. And if you do grab a high caliber defensive player you’re shocked to see at 45 so be it.

    Not this is crazy with every pick being slotted for money but If you have 2 top 10 picks including number one does the cost of signing your picks add in. There are slight cap ramifications so less picks might lead to another signing or 2 in training camp cause you will have some money still. Right?

    Keeping #1 instead of trading #1 for #2 plus a 2nd rd pick is just dumb. In no universe is Williams better than #2 plus a 2nd rd pick. This year's QB class is a gift. Taking 1 when 2 or 3 are so good is just stupid in my opinion.

    So I looked at the draft chart after watching this video and if this draft is top heavy why not trade down with the Raiders or Saints you would be trading all ur pics except #1 and you would get that teams 1st and 2nd the points do match up, this way u would only have 3 Picks but all in the top 45. Either 1, 13 and 44 or 1, 14 and 45.

    All these shows talk about trading back if all the 3 WRs are gone and Alt is gone. But the question is, if all those top picks are gone what team is wanting to move up to 9, and why? What are they needing to go up and get? I think you may just be stuck at 9 and take the best available. There will be some really good player, just maybe not at the spot you wanted to shore up.

    Poles traded lots of draft capital this year because the Bears had so many holes to fill and they can't wait for players to develop. They need competent level veterans to plug in immediately because there's pressure to win now. But they still have so many holes to fill. Using the 1.1 pick and not trading back will forego a talent windfall at the key positions of need this year and next year but it looks like that's what they've decided to do.

    • @specialist-in-tech
      @specialist-in-tech Місяць тому +1

      If there is pressure to win now, the worst choice is to draft a rookie QB. Especially a drama queen like Caleb. Name one time in the last 50 years, the bears have developed a QB. Name 1 heisman trophy QB in last 50 years who went on to win a SB. Jim plunkett. Caleb is not generational. He is not special, he is not Mahomes, he is not Rodger’s. He’s an unproven prospect, and a simple trade down could net high ranking picks that fill real needs. Go with Bo Nix, and you will have a more nfl ready QB, and a quality center, dt, and WR, that fill real needs now. The bears do not have what it takes to protect a guy like Caleb, or develop him to nfl concepts which unlike Bo Nix, Caleb needs to learn. They are gambling with him and hoping his mobility keeps him alive, like it did with Justin, while resetting theQB salary. It’s a total gamble. Besides, Caleb is no dummy, he sees what’s there and he will try every way possible to get out of this pick. Mark my words it will not go smoothly for the bears over the next few weeks if they don’t trade the pick.

    • @specialist-in-tech

      Poles drank the kool aid on this one succumbing to national media and fan expectation pressure. They didn’t due full diligence on the other QBs. At least get somebody large who is not fragile and can take the hits. Rude awakening coming for Caleb and poles and bears fans if they choose them. Caleb is not the messiah everyone thinks he will be at the pro level.

      Waldron went there. QBs that need to develop in the NFL have a much higher bust rate. The 2 with the best chance to be good are Williams and Daniels. Here’s the other thing Caleb is only visiting one team. Which means only 1 team will have his medical information.

  • @BoomorBust
    @BoomorBust Місяць тому

    Yes and no. What he's saying isn't wrong, but you still have to look at the class. For example, this class has quality depth at wide receiver and tackle, but it also has three legit QB prospects and possibly four to the rest of the league. The rest of the positions are scarce. That tells you that you want to be at the very top of the first and you want to have most your picks in rounds 2-3 because that's where all the quality players will be pushed to as people reach in the 1st round because there are probably only 10-12 first round caliber prospects. His strategy makes sense if you don't need tackle or receiver or if you only have four picks that are all in rounds 1-3. Some would argue we need both receiver and tackle and its a very good IOL class. So of course we pick at the top which is great when you need one of those legit QBs or want to trade the pick, and then we pick at 9 which is right around where the 1st round loses some value this year. So you either reach or trade back to get into the 2nd round where the real value will be.

      No he can’t, he has a about 5 routs, but you can teach him the rest of the rout tree. And you have the perfect mentor in Allen. Thomas has the highest upside in the class. He has the size, the insane speed, the quick twitch, great hands, fights for the ball, YAC is amazing. The Bears have two great rout runners, they need a burner and a 50/50. He runts great verts, needs to work on his 50/50 game and be more aggressive, he struggles with dig routs, and curls. But right now we need a deep threat, even if it’s just to stretch the field and keep a defense honest so they don’t start creeping up.

    If he drafts Caleb Williams he doesn’t know what he’s doing 💯 Drake maye is a hall of famer best QB since mahomes to come out 💯

      LMAO You have no idea what you're looking at. People think Caleb is overrated... Maye is the most overrated in this class. Inconsistent and a project. Watched four full games of his this past season to see this guy as he was hyped up to be 1b to Caleb's 1a and came away extremely unimpressed given the hype and the competition he was playing against. Missed layup throws, his deep balls which were supposedly a strength were not thrown in stride, receivers making adjustments to complete the reception. Even his arm strength is overrated. He has tools and size but I'm not spending a top 5 pick on a project.
      The previous regime would have definitely drafted Maye lmao.

    This discussion explains one part of the JUSTIN FIELDS “trade.” Everybody was bitching that Poles got a 2025 sixth round pisk rather than a 2024 pick. Looks smart now, huh!
    Also, maybe Poles can fix the center and edge rusher problems by picking up Jason Kelce and JJ Watt.😂😂😂. Almost seriously though, Kelce would, at retiree speed, probably help the rookie QB.
    Another advantage would be that Jason could bring Kylie with him!

      Right let’s never really build a team instead just keep getting picks. Then next year they can trade those for more picks the following year. With your logic the Bears will eventually have every pick in a future draft. I hear Mike Glennon is available.
