I always interpreted the Anakin-Padme window scene as Anakin thinking to himself “To save Padme, if I do what Palpatine tells me, there’s no turning back”
Anakin's descent into darkness was well portrayed. Because some Jedi never completely loved him, didn't respect him, didn't trust him, didn't take him seriously and even despised him. As a child before Obi-Wan started teaching him, he was hated and psychologically bullied by other children "Anakin is a slave to his feelings" and that was only because of envy because he was much more gifted and skilled than them. You have to find out about the lost 20 Jedi like Count Dooku, about the fates of Jedi with the ability to see the future, young apprentices who were not taken by any Jedi masters to learn, who showed little talent for the force and were not shown to the temple which in some cases was quite drastic, . .. Blinded by ego, aronance, pride, absolute help to people and not following the path of forces. Honor to the exceptions and one of the true Jedi was Master Fey. The Jedi and the Fallen Jedi (Sith) have betrayed the memory and message of their common ancestors of the Je'daii Order by their actions and the endless battles of their Civil War. 😊 May the force be with you. And may you lead the force. 🖐️
LOL! They have no choice. Disney showed the spoiled Star Wars fans that the grass is not always greener. As Rod Tidwell said in "Jerry Maguire" "Ya lovin me now Jerry?" and Jizell Bunchin said the same thing to Tom Brady. LOL! Sleep with your football. How's that workin out.
It was terrible. Utterly and completely terrible. Good concept, pathetic execution by a director long since incapable of producing good films anymore. He needed to pin down the story, step back and allow others to manage the script, casting and direction. Needless to say writing politics is NOT his strong suit - he made it sound more boring than 2 hours of real Senate trade meetings.
@@HealthWealthRelationships700 Exactly. The IP went from a megalomaniac convinced that everything he touches is gold, to a mega corp who thinks film making by focus group is the best way to go. I seriously don't believe that Lucas even acknowledges that other people produced the best parts of the Original Trilogy - he still gets a look on his face when people state that they like Empire Strikes Back the most because he didn't write or direct it.
I've come full circle on a lot of Star Wars properties. It's supposed to be entertainment, and I feel many people have tried to exalt it to some impossible pillar that it can't stand on. It's fun, flashy, and a good way to spend time.
I love the climactic lightsaber duel on Mustafar between Anakin and Obi-Wan. The music, the fight choreography, the special effects and the audio design were also top notch and hold up really well. It's supremely more tense than any of the other lightsaber duels.
Revenge of the Sith was great. I was 30 when I saw Revenge of the Sith and I loved it. The only thing I thought was sloppy was the fact that Leia remembers Padme so well in Return of the Jedi. The Obi-Wan series addressed that well though...
My biggest issue with the prequels is there didn’t feel like a natural progression for Anakin’s fall. What happened between 1 and 2 where he is this bright boy of hope to a pouty sullen teenager. And then we jump forward again and now he is pissed about not being promoted to Master while hiding his marriage to Padme, which for a Jedi is pretty shady on multiple levels. People get upset about the Younglings, fair point, but when he butchered the Sand People it was just an “oh no, Anakin is depressed. “ Speaking of depressed, Anakin went through a hell of a lot of trauma and actually tried to get help, but all he heard was “be mindful of your thoughts, at the moment, and bury it.” Honestly, I really can’t blame the guy for going to the Dark Side. He was definitely manipulated by Palpatine, but at the very least he acknowledged Anakin’s feelings and justified his actions against the Jedi. Even then, his last action as a Jedi was to arrest Palpatine according to the code he just spent a decade learning. And then Mace “I change the rules as I see fit.”
I didn't read either of the #1 or #2 novelisations, but the novelisation for #3 is stellar. It has everything you are missing in the film and more - not just the fall of Anakin, but of the republic itself, the positioning of new regional overseers (future moffs) and all sorts of other stuff that Senator Padme Amidala is pursuing a reckoning about with Palpatine. In the novelisation Padme is actually doing her job as as senator for her people! Somehow Lucas managed to sell everyone short for RotS, and the novelisation author Matt Stover just knocks it out of the park. I highly recommend it.
@@mnomadvfxI'd heard a few people say that the Novelisation really fills out the story. Might give em a go. I remember the Jedi Apprentice books filling in a lot of great backstory for Obi Wan
Ashoka Tano is no Jedi. But she is the true balanced force user in history she is the Grey Jedi. Just like Master Fey is the true and only Jedi light side force guardian. people rip on the prequels and rightfully so, but... I love the pod racing, darth maul, yoda vs the emperor throwing giant disc seat thingies at each other, obiwan vs jango fett, actually bad ass lightsaber fights, opening attack sequence in Epis III.
I joined Hyperpsace so I could watch the behind the scenes footage that was released during the year leading up to the release of RotS. Stuff like Hayden and Owen practicing for their dual. Those videos were better than the actual film.
I did a rewrite of the end for this movie JUST to eliminate Darth Vader screaming NOOOOOO! It also involved a NOT DEAD Padme and did a 5 year time jump.
While the child murder is an uncomfortable situation for a protagonist Lucas wanted the kids in the audience to Identify with in the first two. It always bothered me much more when Anakin Force choked his pregnant wife. That’s serious domestic abuse. Also, the issue of Padme’s death. She dies because she’s sad. Leaving her newborn kids.
""She dies because she’s sad" This is not a weepy tragic romance novel set in frontier America - this is Star frickin Wars. What bothers me most is that the senator and former queen of an entire people decided to just brush off a Jedi admitting to genocide without telling anybody - considering that people owe their freedom to the Jedi she has a duty to them to inform them of his crimes.
Rots is 80% of the quality of the originals, but it has much better action, so that puts it to the best Star Wars movie for me. The other prequels lack the quality a bit too much though...

Anakin is supposed to be an awkward person. Hayden: Plays a character who's supposed to be awkward Critics: We don't like Anakin because he's an awkward character Like what, that just means that Hayden played his part well.
Darth Vader used the death star to commit genocide of a whole planet In the original trilogy. Way more kids and old people and innocent people died. Just because we didn't see them don't mean their lives didn't matter.

Fact is: they could shoot the exact same story with the exact same dialogue and the exact same actors and make a much better movie trilogy, but only if it was done with a different director and a more sensible approach to using visual effects.
This is my favorite Star Wars movie. Having said that biggest issue in this movie is prolonged ending. the audiences would be much better served if this movie ended with Obi-wan leaving Mustafar. Everything after that is just fan service to explain to OT fans how those movies were set up. I leave my, most likely, unpopular opinion about OT Darth Vader here as well. Is has been said that Darth Vader is one of best movie villains of all times. I don't think so. Mostly because in none of 6 George Lucas movies he is the brains behind operation in said movie. In New Hope he obeys commands from General (don't remember his name), who is the one ordering blowing up Alderan. Yes, it is Vader who "kills" Obi-Wan but other then placing tracker on Falcon all other orders are not given by him. IN ESB Vader's portrayal is a setup for two things: Lando betraying Hans and big reveal. As a setup for these two things him slaying off imperial officers serves perfectly, but as his interactions with Emperor once again shows, he obeys commands and is doing all of it to bring Luke before him. Furthermore, after reveal and escape he spares the admiral in charge of capturing Falcon. In ROTJ Vader is completely, for lack of better terms, gray. He doesn't do any questionable things, apart from bringing Luke before emperor. And even that he explains by the power of dark side not his own will. Correct me if I'm wrong but the only person Vader kills in this movie is emperor (if I'm wrong I subtract this statement). So my conclusion why Dart Vader isn't real villain is: he is not brains behind most of villainous acts in OT, he doesn't do single atrocious thing in last movie of this trilogy and the only movie where he is somewhat singlehandedly in charge of actions is attack on Hoth and chase of Falcon in ESB. And that happened to be hunt for Luke to bring him before emperor. Correct me if I'm wrong but that doesn't seem like a villain to me. A bad guy, yes. Antidote of hero given how his journey ends at best but not villain. IMO he lacks importance in Empires storyline to be a villain. Hi is just figurehead for evil side. Side note: One thing I think people overestimate is killings SW universe. From what I've seen in movies they are not as big of a thing as people make it out to be. It seems that life is not that valuable in SW universe.
