Matthew Trickett, a British man accused of spying for Hong Kong, has been found dead in a park near London, UK police said on May 21, 2024. Trickett, a former member of the Royal Marines, had been released on bail by a UK court. He and two Hongkongers faced charges in the case.

Hong Kong's Government is appointed by the CCP. On top of that, since the passing of the National Security Law, elements of Chinese law (subversion) applies in Hong Kong. There is no difference besides small technicalities.

`We’ didn’t lose HK, we had a lease agreement and the lease ended, so we left. Much like vacating an apartment when your lease ends, but Britain left it in much better condition than when they took up the tenancy
