  • This is the next video in our series about the analysis of variance, or ANOVA.; more specifically, the Two-Way ANOVA with Replication. This is also called a Two-Factor ANOVA. To make the topic more manageable, I have divided this video into several parts. In Part 2A, we will cover the basics of the 2-way ANOVA interaction. In Part 2B we will discuss the graph of marginal means. These are sometimes called "interaction graphs" even though no interaction may be present.
    So in our last video, we took an in-depth look at the basics of the Two-Way ANOVA. As with many visual tools, marginal means graphs allow us to visualize the characteristics of each factor and any interaction that may be occurring between them. We will learn how to construct and interpret marginal means graphs and then compare the graph to the actual output from, in this case, SPSS.
    This video offers a solid, comprehensive, conceptual foundation of Two-Way ANOVA and interactions using an example problem with illustrations and graphics. So if you are new to ANOVA or are still trying to figure out exactly what it is...this video is for you.
    So sit back, relax, and let's go ahead and get to work.

    Thank you so much Brandon for making these videos. I FINALLY get it waaaaay more and the way you explain makes it look like it's a piece of cake. Which it probably is, but not for every1. So thank you!

    Brandon , firstly I thank you so much for these absolutely fantastic lectures. The best in my experience. They are priceless. I was wondering if you can give an A to Z lecture on Montecarlo simulation, from foundation to slight complex.
    Thank you again.

    Yes it does. Thank you for your quick answer. Just to make sure I fully understand I will provide a different example which would be great if you can confirm: If we tested the same 10 people on 3 different days. On each day they consumed one of 3 beverages before their reactions time was tested immediately after, 5 minutes after, and 20 minutes after drinking the beverage. So will I be correct to assume that this type of design was a 2 way repeated measures ANOVA ? My understanding is that have 3 factors (3 beverages) and another 3 factors (reaction time was repeated 3 times).Am I in the right direction with this ? Thanks again !

      Actually you have 3 variables; time, beverage, and DAY. The best way to do this experiment is to do it all simultaneously. 15 people: 5 get bev A, 5 get bev B, and 5 get bev C by random assignment (rows) and Now, 5min, 20min (columns). You can only have one variable as a repeated measure, in this case...time.

    Thanks for the videos that all are extremely well organized, easy to understand and useful. Now I'm struggling with the MANOVA concept and unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any related video. please tell me such video(s) haven't be included in the channel.

    Thanks a lot for these videos! They are really clear and have helped me to finally grasp the concept of ANOVA! I have one question though, could you please help me understand how to interpret the Sig. column? Why .000 means that it is significant?

    Hi Brandon! Thanks for this series of videos which are quite helpful. I just wonder what if I want to add a third factor(dimension). Is there a so-called "Three factors ANOVA"? If not, which kind of method I could possibly use?

    Hi Brandon. Could you please explain me why the sum of the SSC must be multiplied by the number of rows? Same with SSB and numbers of columns. Thank you very much in advance.

    I am trying to made a connection between what I learned in your videos and the Statistical software called Stata. Any idea on how to get some clarity on this?

    Thank you so much for these amazing videos Brandon. I am a little confused about something that I hope you can clear up. Does repeated measures and replication basically mean the same thing when it comes to ANOVA ? I am not quite sure where does repeated measures ANOVAs fit in the big pictures here. Thanks again !

    • @BrandonFoltz
      @BrandonFoltz  10 років тому

      Hi Israel! I repeated measures ANOVA is a special type of One-Way ANOVA replication. In repeated measures, the samples are dependent, not independent. So if we had 10 people go on a diet, we could measure the weight of those 10 people over time; 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months. The columns would be Time and each row would be the SAME PERSON over that time frame. That help? - B

    Hi there, Thank you very much for this video. It has helped me a lot. I have one question though, What non-parametric method can I use in-place of two way ANOVA?

    • @justinatuulikefonangolo5509

      Do you have any video on any non-parametric 2 factor test?

    • @TidBitOf
      @TidBitOf 4 роки тому

      Mann-Whitney test (independent samples) or Wilcoxon test (dependent samples) for two groups. Friedman test for two and more groups and dependent samples, Kruskal-Wallis test for independent samples and two or more groups.

      @@TidBitOf thank you very much, I was looking at kruskall Wallis but it doesn't allow for interaction. Thank you very much I will try the Friedman test.

    I followed your videos to understand the concepts. I applied it on my work. I find inconsistencies in the results of R and Excel. Details are here: math.stackexchange.com/questions/2032533/discrepency-in-anova-results-between-excel-and-r Can you please give your opinion on this please? Thanks for wonderful videos.
