    im currently struggling with my breaststroke and recently I've been following a lot of Lilly King's and Cody Miller's tips and this video too and last week my schools swim team had a meet and I didn't place but for sure improved my time by 14 seconds, not much but looks like i'm improving little by little I got another meet this week too at practice I have to try these out! Also this is my first swim season which my coach said I wasn't too bad at breast lmaoo

      Maybe how to improve my 50 butterfly or 50 free because I’m 11 and my time is 31 Sec in free and I’m trying to beat this girl and she has the time of 28 SEC ( no joke) and my butterfly time 36 SEC. Thank you so much for replying 😊

    2 question about the butterfly:
    •Doesn’t breathing every stroke slow you down?
    •what are some ways to improve my kick for Butterfly?

    • @thequake180
      @thequake180 6 років тому +2

      breathing every stroke might slow you down a bit but the extra oxygen gives you more power and speed in the long run. which is why olympic swimmers breathe on every stroke..

    There are 2 kicks in a butterfly cycle, and de states to power the second kick. Well, which is the 2nd kick, when arms exit or enter the water? I presume it is when it enters, but remain uncertain.

    • @lucascavallari8489
      @lucascavallari8489 2 роки тому +1

      When hands enter the water, first kick, light kick. When hands exit the water, second kick, stronger kick.

    He said that my arms shouldn’t be stiff on freestyle but my coach yells at me if my arms aren’t straight. He says that I’m not supposed to crease my arms anywhere when doing freestyle and I knew that that isn’t correct. Also he tells me to breathe as little as possible but this Olympic coach says to breath, breath, breath.

    Doesn't breathing every stroke cause you to slow down? For butterfly I breath ever 1 or 2 strokes. And for free I try to breath every 4, sometimes I'll try to do 5. Is this bad?

    • @ecemy1ldiz
      @ecemy1ldiz 7 років тому +1

      Molly Edmonds it honestly depends on how comfortable you are with your breathing. On butterfly I breathe every two and freestyle I breathe every 3. My friends are very different and usually breathe every 5 For freestyle like you. I do think it slows you down too breathing every one but I just think butterfly kills me anyhow. It's not bad, every swimmer is different :))

    • @gloomy8997
      @gloomy8997 7 років тому +1

      Molly Edmonds same I also think that. I barely breathe at all during a 50 or 25 freestyle.

    • @Sophia-tv7hr
      @Sophia-tv7hr 7 років тому +12

      Breathing at every stroke (or every other stroke) is essential for competitors in swims more than 50m. The presence of oxygen during respiration yields a greater amount of ATP (energy). But if oxygen is absent, although energy is produced quicker (hence why you don't see a competing swimmer take a breath when swimming say a 50M freestyle), the amounts are lower. Also not having a sufficient amount of oxygen during respiration leads to a build up of lactic acid causing muscle cramps etc.

    Butterfly: which kick is considered to be the second kick? When hands enter or exit the water, which one has to be more "emphasised"?
