seems to me the madness comes by stress and horrid trauma makes Targaryens go mad.Maybe it is a matter of both factors.Duskendala for Areys and isolation and horrid losses for Daenerys.

Could it be that Joffrey was sadistic monster because he had some kind of genetic defect? I mean,if incest leads to defects and madness and that explains actions of Mad King and Daenerys in final season,i don't see why Joffrey couldn't have defects in his personality as he was fruit of incest.

    him: inbreeding caused Targaryen madness
me: the targ Brightflame is the most insane member of his family and he was born when the tags reached out in their marriage seems that marrying out does more damage than in

In real life though, despite your...choice of online videos on certain websites(I always see through you types), it does cause defects. Slippery slope was real. Is real.

Back when I was watching I got the impression it turned out to be Brahn's failure to be a fully trained three-eyed raven. But who knows.

I mean, yeah of course the inbreeding had consequences. Targaryens had famously their dragon-babies. But i cant help myself that the real cause of their madness is their superiority-complex combined with their inability to live up to it. Also, their magic abilities have not been reduced. Dragon dreams are happening just the same as in the past and grr martin meant that daenys dragon were a one in the million lucky event. Meaning that daeny cant just get more eggs to hatch.

Of course it is the cause of their genetic defects. People dont pay that close of attention but GRRM was clever in using real world genetic defects to represent the consequences of such extreme in breeding.
Think about it, the amount of genetic defects that plaques the family only becomes more apprant the further down the timeline you go. Aemon of the nights watch wasnt blind because he was old. He began losing his sight at an abnormal age.
And the targaryens are prone to giving birth to deformed, and corrupted fetus's that dont always come to term. This is a consequences of their practices.
Rhaenyra gives birth to a deformed fetus after having a miscarriage's which was the result of her coupling with Daemon.
These genetic defects would come up from time to time, to display the true nature of the targaryen blood line and its corruption.
Keep in mind Daenerys also had a miscarriage With Drogos child. The child was born with the wings of a batman, and its flesh fell from its bones, and was consumed by maggots.
This is the result of the targaryen bloodline which is not safe just because theres magic. Since they diluted the magic, this would result in deformeties and abnormalities.
As well as insanity, and rage.
Jon was only even tempered and good because the blood line was diluted with stark blood.
It could be that had they kept their blood lines pure, they probably would of never lost their magic, or been inflicted with genetic defects.
Notice that the more the targaryens dilute their blood line, the weaker the dragons become.
The genetic defects of their corrupted fetus's tell the story of what the dragon riders were, and why it was the coupling outside of their blood lines that ended up making them more human.
Dragon riders, were spliced with the dna of dragons, hence why they were able to hatch them, and the dragons recognized their blood as its master.
I have a running theory on game of thrones that honestly becomes more plausiable with each new thing thats released in the series.
I believe at some point, the people on planetos were a human colony. MAybe even a british human colony, that ventured into space to find a new planet.
Somewhere along the lines we found one. Taking with us, all the life, and culture we could to this new world, where we would build a giant technologically advanced city, complete with creatures we created and hybridized from animals native to the planet. Like fire worms.
To better control these creatures, we spliced in their dna with ours, and its not magic, but genetic manipulation.
Dragons would cause that advanced society to implode in on itself, and what was left was human colonies that branched out into the world.
    Creating an interregnum.
A planet that loses all our advanced advantages, and we reverted back to what we knew.
But genetic mutation was carried on from the original colony. But due to the limited gene pool, Madness, and deformities would plague the population for years to come.
I believe this is the truth of game of thrones. since some stories that exist in our world, does exist there, as well as traditions, languigae customs.
ITs not a coincidence that the world of westeros looks like and reflect england in its inception. Because it carried traditions kept alive in the culture to this day.
If somehow the english or countries that had similar traditions and practices, colonized a planet.
It would be something very much like game of thrones after years of losing their technollogy and resetting the development of the planet.
One of the most telling hints that people dont notice, is the constillations during one of the only scenes we see that shows the night sky clearly, when Dany burns Varys alive.
We see, the costillations are all differnt, not one fdamiliar constillation exists on planetos.
This is because its not simply a fantasy world. Theres a reason the dragons genetically make sense, and the magic is based in blood, and elements.
Genetic mutations from advance bio mechanical technology, and a nanite that can live in the elements and change a human into basically an ice terminator.
I do believe the fantasy elements do exist plike rhllor and the great other.
But I believe they are like super beings that somehow attained eternal life through their evolution much like the morllocks in the time machine. That the nature of ice necromancers may not be fantasy at all, but something comparable to the locknar in heavy metal. A cosmic glowing green stone that can kill or transform those who come into contact with it.
I believe the evil corrupted creatures that the locknar creates is very much in line with the white walkers and using the same "energy" to reanimate the dead.
I believe that GRRM also is influence by the elric series. In the Elric of melnibone series, which was the main influence on how the targaryens look and their genetic defects, Elric is apart of a race of dragon binder mutants. Somewhere down the line, humans mutated to be able to control dragons, into dark mutant like elf species.
And somewhere in the nothing or the void, theres two gods playing a game. And i believe the game board we see in the opening credits, is meant to represent this cosmuc game board.
Read the elric series and the thousand world series, and you begin to understand what game of thrones is really about.
