  • Thank you to Woodcraft for sponsoring this video.
    I visit the Woodcraft store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to learn how to apply a Basket Illusion. This is a great technique that can be applied too many different shapes. Get your illusion on!

    I've been watching UA-cam videos and having my own video channel quite a few years. Of all the videos I have kept to watch over and over again, you sweetie are the top 5% of the ones I've kept. You treat people with respect, I still go back and watch the weaving episode from PBS. Stay kind, stay respectful, we really appreciate it.✍

    Fascinating. I love the way Eric connects with each craftsman. He respects everyone and gains their trust. Each artist/craftsperson then opens up their creation secrets and shares their joy. As humans, we ARE that we might have joy. A Craftsman’s Legacy opens up many avenues to joy.

      Thank you for the kind words. I don't do anything special, craftsmen are more than willing to share and help others learn!!

    I have always wondered how this was done. Where can I get the layout circles?

    Am I correct that you know/calculate the number of beaded rings as part of the layout? Do you use different beading tools of various widths?

    • @CraftsmansLegacy
      @CraftsmansLegacy  4 роки тому

      No. You use the same beading tool. You also do not have to calculate the number of beads. As you get towards the end you can manipulate the beading a little to compensate for spacing.

    One thing you must realize,you better have patience or you won't be able to do this work.For me,it relaxes me,so i can do this for hours on end.

    What finish do you apply at the end? Any ?

      I don't remember using any finish, but I would think a simple top coat would be fine.

    Very good video. I have been doing basket illusion turnings for about 2 years. It's a lot of fun. If you want to see another very talented basket illusion turner, check out Karl Hansen (Gibbsartwood on Instagram). Super cool patterns and designs.
