Wow. Arnold is as strong mentally as he is physically. Amazing to see someone so open about their failure, and so strong to just sit in it, and talk about it, showing all of the weakness and trauma, yet stay so solid. What an incredible person.

I knew I was right to admire Arnold for the past few decades. It takes a lot of strength & courage to talk about something so embarrassing & hurtful in front of the world. He faced his problem head on, unlike almost every other politician.
Mistake ? Joseph looks like the happiest healthiest guy out of all them I’m sure he loves his dad as much as the rest do. Arnold is so lucky he gets to have another human being carrying his blood, also love and appreciate him forever

I feel very sorry for Maria Shriver because she seems so loyal and committed, she must've been very sad by the betrayal. Arnold is one of the few people that is willing to talk about this type of thing in public. He'll always have this failing frowned upon of course, but he'll always respected for his powerful accomplishments as well.

I'm an imperfect person, and like most people I sometimes get really down on myself for stupid things I've done or decisions I've made, and in those moments it is easy to gaze from a distance at the rich...the famous...the successful...those apparently living the "perfect" life, and at some level feel oneself even smaller for one's own imperfections. Regarding Arnold, I'm thankful to him for his inspiring example relating to his determined climb to the top. And now, I'm even more thankful to him for showing me that even the best of us fuck-up sometimes, and perhaps I shouldn't be so hard on myself...

I've watched Arnold since the '70s, and always had a bit of hero-worship going on. And it is easy in life to imagine that heroes have the perfect life, whereas oneself is just a total fuck-up. But, the secret life of outwardly successful people is often never really known. For example, look at the recent example of Robin williams; here is a guy who achieved so much in his life and was admired by millions, yet how much pain was he secretly in? Or, what about Tiger Woods? From the outside in the beginning Tiger's life looked about as perfect as one could imagine...And yet...again...he had is weaknesses and his mess-ups. Hugh grant? Bill Clinton? Mike Tyson? Countless stars who end up in rehab? The list goes on...
So, whenever you feel like you made a mistake...just kick back for a moment...chill...put it behind you and then get on with life. The energy you spend getting angry with yourself today is better spent doing one positive thing tomorrow...

Arnold is a beloved figure for all 90s people, I think its touching, great he recognized the near identical son. He looks exactly alike, many celebrities have mixed raced relations, matthew McConaughey has three kids with a brazilian woman, Deniro has three, mixed raced boys with a black woman. I'm proud of being mixed raced myself.

Arnold, himself, says he has always loved Maria since the moment he met her. He says she was an extraordinary woman, wife, & mother. She was loyal & committed to him & everything they built together. He owned up to it? He denied it to his wife for years, and there’s no way she was living peacefully all that time. She knew. She outright asked him, years before he finally admitted it when put on the spot when cornered in a marital counselling session. Housekeeper mistress admitted it to Maria. Housekeeper mistress worked for them right until the end of the marriage. Disgusting of both her AND Schwarzenegger.
He hurt his family in a sordid way and on an epic level. It takes A LOT away from the cool things he did because it was such a moral f*** up. As a Catholic, I can go to confession at any church other than my home parish to avoid embarrassment especially when my pastor recognizes my voice. In Arnold's case even halfway around the world a priest would recognize his voice through the privacy screen.
Mistakes everyone makes them but he him self he is a legend he really did make his dreams come true that what he stands for 💪

He clearly knew what he was doing & how disgusting it is to cheat ur wife but he continued it anyway.. I had so much respect for this guy, it such a shame that he turned out like this..

He is really impressive the way he handled every single question thats totally respectable. Even though what he did was wrong… he gets up again and admits his mistakes and failures now-days nobody takes accountability for their actions.
I thought Arnold handled the whole situation about as good as you can handle it, when you take in mind all the press and the talk all around the world about it. In every interview he was doing for at least a year after the scandal broke, he was always asked about what are, essentially, very private personal questions. I probably would've said it's none of your business so that's the end of it, but he patiently took his time and answered every question he was ever asked about it.
That being said, it as still a mistake, and he still needed to answer for it to the public, being in the public eye, you have a responsibility to at least answer some questions. But to be constantly asked all the time about it, whereever you go all around the world, he could've simply said, you know, I've said all I wanted to say about it, so now it's time for another question. But, give the devil his due, he answered all the questions and overall handled the intense scrutiny pretty well.
If most people had their personal baggage flaunted before the world, they would probably hide in a hole somewhere. Many celebrities even, who are used to being scrutinized by the public, do that. But, Arnold went out, he said, yes, I did this...and was more than willing to answer any questions anyone had about it. That takes a strength that most people just don't have.
Again, I probably would've said after a while, look, anything you want to know is already out there, I don't want to keep going over it again and again. It was my mistake, I made it, I'm trying to make it better, and there's not much more to say about it. It happened, it was a mistake, I can't take it back, but at the end of the day, this is between me and my family, so for the sake of privacy, I demand you respect my privacy. But he didn't do that.
I'm still a Schwarzenegger fan, and always will be. Aside from this one mistake, he still is a good model for kids, and for people in general. Everyone has their skeletons. God knows most people definitely are far from perfect. Someone like Arnold is actually probably more perfect than 99% of people out there. I can imagine what some slob at the club would do if he was in Schwarzenegger's shoes. The fact he didn't tank himself so early on, when you know most people would've done exactly that, is a testament to him and his character.
Some people make mistakes in the public eye and never recover. Arnold has recovered, and still manages to be an inspiration to people, so that should be what people know him as. Not the guy who cheated with the maid and had a kid. And that's the bottom line.
***** I agree, the guy made a mistake and appears to be trying to apologize and is not running from it like so many would. I am now and will always be an Arnie guy and I really wish people would get off of their soap boxes and act as if he is the only person to make mistakes. Nice post man.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was so much larger than life, so successful for so long, he almost became unhuman. The fact that he made such a great misstep makes him more sympathetic in a way - he's human after all and he too can fail. He owned it all like a star which I greatly respect.
Another example of the idiotic mainstream media focusing on the faults of Arnold rather then the tremendous successes that he has experienced from the moment he arrived in America. The bulk of the interview is focused on the affair which I think is very unfair and unflattering, yes he made a mistake, yes ask a few questions about what happened, but move on and understand that the United States is and has been very fortunate to have been able to benefit from this man's incredible energy.

Perhaps we should hold on a bit on judgment, most if not all of us have at least some family member that went thru this situation, we are all human and unfortunately have weaknesses.

I would think that with in time a child in those circumstances would understand that the comments are not about him but of the situation specially now that we see how much Arnold spends time with him and the fact that he didn’t try to hide from being photographed with him once the story was out. I’m sure he understands he was a blessing in disguise, you can tell Joseph and Arnold have a good relationship regardless of how it got started.

The action itself was a mistake. He cheated on his wife. How can anyone say that is ok? He's talking about the action not the son. That's it.

I really appreciated Arnold’s story of his experience in Austria at an early Nazi attack known as the night of broken glass. He described how it wasn’t the devout Nazi’s but those who were willing to turn a blind eye to what they were doing that really allowed violence and atrocities to perpetuate escalating to the extermination of 6 million Jews and other minorities that weren’t considered “white Arian race” such as Gypsies, Hispanics and many others. I m glad he can see how his actions hurt others. His son seems friendly and well adjusted. 🤷🏼♀️

I thought he came across really badly when talking about his other son as a "mistake" and he will look after him "financially" I actually winced at the thought of his son watching that and how he would feel.

He didn't say that at all. He said he made a mistake which he obviously did. He did not call his son a mistake. Don't over analyze what people say.
He said. it was a mistake. Doesn't matter if he is talking about the act itself. The byproduct of the act was his son. therefore a mistake. He has talked in numerous interviews saying he will have nothing to do with the boy but will pay for him. No one has to analyze anything when they have the facts,
What? Of course it matters if he's talking about the act itself or about the child he put on earth. Committing adultery is a mistake, a horrible one. The only good thing about it is that a person get's to see the light of day because of it, but that doesn't mean it was a good thing that Arnold betrayed his family. Simple as that. The kid will be all right.
