- The DX QSO to Canada has been achieved with my home made, portable vertical antenna and with only 20W on the 20m band 😉👍
It was beautiful sunny winter day and was great time to go on fresh air.
I want to thank you all for my first 10 000 subscribers! It's amazing! I would never believed in that before 😊
Thank you for watching my videos and your big support of my work on this beautiful Hamradio hobby!
QSO's in this video with: G4BFS, F4HUN, OQ5BECLEVER + others unknown (my apologize, we didn't use the logbook 🤪)

Really excellent video again Paul. Very nice cinematography and editing.
I'm looking forward to follow your shortened vertical experiments too! 🙂🇳🇴
As a Canadian ham, it was fantastic to see someone get excited to make a contact to VA/VE land. Great video Paul, intro and outro sound track and videography look like a big budget Hollywood production.
Ouh thanks! I am honest! Thank you for the nice comment John! 😊👍 Yes I was so happy because it was done with my own home made antenna and just around 20W 😃 That was great! Greetings to Canada from Slovakia and best 73. Paul
Very nice place Paul! Thanks for sharing with ours, your wonderfum QSO/QRP experience. Greetings from Brasil. Stay safe!
Looks like you guys are having fun. Beautiful location and well done with the DX contact.
Thank you! :)
Another promising antenna project. Hopefully you could also do an episode about its construction. 73
I hope so too :) At least some technical details when this antenna will be finished ;) 73, Paul

What an awesome video. Beautiful location. Beautiful, very well made and very nice looking vertical. Greetings from VK2. Well done!!
A well put together video paul really bbc quality stuff thx for your time and efforts putting this together for our entertainment and glad you got good conditions whilst you were up there portable
Thanks! But honestly I am little dissapointed of the video resolution. I recorded it to FHD 1080p/30FPS, but the result here on youtube is not what I was expected at all. The video is out of focus, without details and in some parts I see image jamming. I donno where should be a problem... But I am happy that still is this video nice for viewers ;-) Thanks for watching and 73! Paul
Amazing cinematography.
Well deserved over 10.000 subs, brilliant video as always.
My pleasure! Thank you very very much for compliment! ;)
Your video has encouraged me to try QRP. Thanks.
So I'm very happy that I motivated you :) I hope you will be successful ;) 73
What a beautiful job! Both...
Thank you! :)
Very beautiful nature!
Congratulations on how you make your videos with a lot of detail, a lot of precision and a lot of effort
Another great video Paul. Congrats for the nice work. You still inspire others to make this a very special hobby. Thks
This would be my biggest satisfaction if I inspire people to this beautiful hobby! Thank you for your nice comment and watching this video :) 73, Paul.
@@OM0ET keep your good job Paul. My long wire antena with the 9:1 UnUn, its inspired on your videos. So, many thanks. It works!!! 73 from CT2JAW

Super once agai Paul,.. cheers n congrats 10k 73
Thank you so much Tom! It's great motivation for me to go forward :) 73
I have been watching quite a few of your previous videos. Your end fed long wire antenna's are great and inspired me so today I made one with a 9:1 unun and deployed it but not very high up and had great contacts using 5 watts and up to 30 watts for hundreds of kilometres in VK. I have a ATAS vertical antenna and am also inspired to get it out and use that too after watch this video. Keep up the great work. 73 de VK3FIMD, Ian.
Amazing! Thank you! I am happy that you EndFed antenna works and you are happy with it ;) I am still working on this Vertical antenna project, so turns counts and other dimensions are not yet final :) Greetings to VK from Slovakia! 73, Paul.
Hi Paul just want to say what a great video you did. The music was just beautiful and the scenery was just gorgeous even though it is winter. Congratulations on the homemade vertical and making the contact to Canada fantastic.

Wow good Job my friend👍
Thank you! :)
Nice!
Way back when, I had some HAM friends whose field trips I attended as a guest. And I helped to calculate the club vertical dipole antenna supports for optimum wind tolerance. But the reason for this comment is one of the field trips that was made to the top of a hill. The connections obtained were disappointing -- again, as they admitted. Somebody revealed that they had much better experiences below the hill! The reason was pretty evident, when I looked around. The hill had a granite core and dry gravel overcoat, while the soil below the hill was nice moist clay underneath and farm fields on top. We did not have a good Ground for our antenna up there on the hill.
Yes, it make sense of course. But the view, fresh air, woods and hiking is one part of this all 😉 We enjoy not only radio but also sport like this 😊. Thank for your nice comment and greetings from Slovakia! 73, Paul
Great video Paul, I am liking that vertical design. But at that location you were at- I'm thinking what could I do with all those tall trees and a long wire-LOL. What Beautiful countryside you have! Job Done- Well Done. Barnie M7PBX.
LOL yes, this place with this tall trees would be also good for let say big wire delta loop ;) That's true :D 73

Congratulation on your 10K subscriber! That's really interesting as you running 50 watt or may be 30 - 20 watt in making DX contact, the battery must be efficient. What's the specification of your battery?
Thank you! We were using two 5Ah LiPo 3S batteries, but we didn't must used the second one during this trip :)
7000 Km with 30W is indeed a very good qso :) ! Great !

Hi, yes it's my second Fiesta. First was 2004 and this is model 2016. I like it 💖. Do you sell this cars? Or made them? 73
Another good vertical antena is helicoidal ,i use it for movile station like the video.is e wire of 1/2 wave ,wrap over a pipe of plastic water tube .some radials ground may be put.the inpedance is 50 ohms.
Greats men..CA7GFK, Gerardo , Chile, Calbuco Decima Region..Patagonia.73.
Hello! Greeting to far far away chile! Thank you for watching and your comment! :) 73
Great job again. TA5LVC
Thank you! ;) 73 and greetings from Slovakia!
Hey Paul. How do you think does the shortened vertical compare to your mag loop? I'll become an ham op and with novice license I can use 160/80/15/10m of the hf bands in my country. My space is a little bit restricted for wire antennas. So halfwave on 80m would be in neighbour's garden and I also can't get much higher than 10m above ground. tnx
Congrats. Nice video. Great contact in Canada but where were you located? I might have missed it in the video but I just heard you were in the woods :)
Nice contact to canada my best was new zealand qrp mobile on 11m 5/5 but great fun
Nice! I presume that it was done during Solar maximum? Maybe 10yrs ago or no? 👍

@@stevendale7658 yeah it was a great time around yr 2000. Sun was pretty active with beatiful propagations around the world 😁
Hi Paul congrats on the 10K subs! I have a similar setup but I'm using multiple elements on a 9.5m fibreglass pole based on DX Commander classic. I set it up in my garden and with some extra elements it's resonant on 160m, 80m, 40m, 20m, 24m, 17m, 15m, 12, 10m & 6m with no tuner except for tweaking some for 1:1. If I take it portable it's usually just 40m and up or 80m if I add that element as a inverted L.) Have a look at the DX Command youtube channel and Callums web site. I think you'll like it. I think for 20m you can make your antenna work as a normal 1/4 wave vertical if the MFJ is 5m long. Try making it 4.82 meters long and see how it does on SWR. 73!
Thank you for your comment and your advise Stewart ;) 73
@@OM0ET one more thing you might want to look at Mike M0MSN's UA-cam channel he made a coil for creating an 80m vertical that I think you will like!

Génial. J'aimerais fabriquer une antenne comme celle-là. Avez-vous les plans? Bravo pour votre travail
Hello, nice Antenna. How have found this Long Teleskop Antenna?
Dear sir
I am from india and i dont have enough knowledge about this antenna
But i can make it
But i want to know can i use with my 80watt chinesd amp for uhf hamradio ?
And its used for ham radio frequency 462.000 above
Great video, i like the way you film and produce. Much respect since i know how much work it is to setup and postproduct the video. Any details on the ham setup? What telescopic whip is that? What battery did you use, what tripod? how did you produce the loading coil? Why did you decide to make it bottom loaded instead of center loaded? How long are the readials? so many questions
Thank you! Btw.have you seen this video already? ua-cam.com/video/X2nh0Du58jg/v-deo.html
The whip in the video is MFJ whip 5m max long, 5A LiPol 3S battery, cheap tripod from China. I made three different coils and still experimenting and trying to figure out which is better. I am not an expert for this things, small theory but I like learn by my self and do my own experiments and tests. In the video i mentioned the lenght of radials - 5m. Thanks for watching and 73! Greetings from Slovakia! :)
@@OM0ET Thanks for the response. Yepp that video i know. Regarding experimenting: i highly recommend to compare a bottom loaded to a center loaded Antenna. At least in theorie center loading should give you higher efficency and a more flat radiation angle (Due to the fact that you are at least partly using the "high current" part of the Antenna) Unfortunatly there is no easy way to compare except for building both variants and have station on the other side reporting back the differences. If you manage to do such a comparision and catch it on video i ld definetly own you as plenty of beers :)
