That level that Ryu said was weird was just like an old SMW course. Multiple paths, but generally you want to go right. I think Ryu has played so many levels that tunnel him down one path that he forgot what actual freedom looks like.
The Dusty Desert level actually seemed kind of good. It just allowed you to choose different paths I think, in a traditional sort of way. A lot of aspects were traditional, like not needing shells etc., but I guess that some of the jumps were a bit too difficult to justify not thinking in a kazio-esque way.
The soft lock fake out in Shell Mountain was art

32:36 the strat is to let p-switch end with the coin under the right spike not touched, then rub against it and just up = ez line-up win. You do have to press the p-switch immediately though.
Exactly what I came down here to comment. I was also thinking you could give yourself more post-P-switch time by duck-flying instead so that you can trigger the P-switch on the way while flying over it. Then you have plenty of time to let the brick line you up.

I got one of those “2 jump/3 jump lvls in multiplayer. It didn’t turn out very well and ended up in everyone giving up. Except me.

On that last level it looked like you had a chance to let the p-switch run out and bump the corner of the coin-turned-block to align yourself if I'm correct in thinking that bumping the very corner of the block will align you with its side. Maybe.
And in the end, no matter how hard you try, you will always lose endless mode.

Less people playing, less people booing probably. Average level of play is also much better since many dropped out and those who stuck with it go better because of experience. So they may be less likely to boo since they know what real trash is like.

On the last level, you could wait until the p-switch timer runs out and then jump so the brick blocks push you into the correct position
