If this gets remade, I hope they leave out the avatars (who in PR2 looked like they better belong in Clayfighter), add some new beasts among the veterans, and maybe have Necron as the final boss.
I would imagine they would anyways. I heard through the grapevine awhile back that it was one of the major reasons for it's cancellation. The devs didn't have much depth and a direction to take it in. Also it didn't sit well with investors. Besides all of that, very little who grew up with the original PR even know about that whole situation much less that a sequel was in development. I suppose you could argue the sequel is common knowledge at this point but only a few (damn few in fact) prototype arcades even exist. To this day, I've never seen one in the wild, and wouldn't be surprised if I ever will (especially considering Arcades are a slow dying breed here in the US).
+Inspirational Gamer hey i happen to find someone who was able to make an emulator for primal rage 2 but it's still in demo version since he still trying to find the coding for the game, he calls it "brute force" i don't much about computers programming so if i had to guess it's like he's trying to encrypt it manually without a encryption key or something but overall the game looks fantastic.
@Danny Soto: That is wonderful to hear! I always wanted to play the sequel. Please keep me informed on his progress. I am building my channel as of right now and I would absolutely love to have a ROM of this game that is complete and in working condition. Hopefully compatible for CoinOps 6 which is what my original Xbox is currently running for emulation. :)
Jeremy Riley Yup, I'd point it out. The problem is that people didn't like the appeal of the human characters and couldn't "figure out" how to use the dino gods instead. (press UP on the avatar at the char select screen). I think the game would do good with a remake, but it'd be tricky having Mortal Kombat style finishes since the characters have quite different body structures and the motion capture/animation would require it to specifically be done for each opponent.
There is another version of this on the "Arcade Treasures 2" compilation for PS2. a little more animation, a little faster, and the special moves are more Street Fighter-esque.
That version is based on version 2.3. It's not perfect though. Since no one, including MAME, has been able to successfully crack the unique encryption, there are some visual and sound glitches. One that I have notice in the yellow blood shed that you would in a lot of MAME playthrough and second which IMO was important, is that some sound ques were missing.
The arcade treasures 2 version was awful. Honestly all the conversions are pretty off. The best would probably be the Saturn version. PC version was alright but had terrible sound issues.
Interestingly, this game was re-released on the ps1. it had an upgrade to the graphics, smoother load times, and included a third finishing move for the characters. I don't know what version it was, but it wasn't 1.0.
Honestly, I disagree. It's not quite gruesome as MK is or quite as brutal as Injustice. This feels much more of a light version of Killer instinct. Maybe Double Helix would revive it once they wrap up on Killer Instinct (which should be shortly). or perhaps maybe Namco/Bandai could buy the rights and have Harada and his Tekken team work on it once Tekken 7 wraps up and Tekken X Street Fighter carries on.. I would like to see the plot a bit more fleshed out and more of a backstory for the monsters. Better combo strings and technicals would be nice too. Basically what i am saying is modernize it so it's keeps an interest on both a casual and competitive level of play.

I remember playing this and wanting it to be good so much. The concept is amazing, but the game play was always weird, and clunky to me. Watching it played is much better
The pc port of this game is pretty good and does the arcades original justice. All console versions are ubearable due to dreadful loading times, missing content and those godawful fmv clips.
I loved this game so much! Had it on PC, GB and SNES :D Still amazing, i wish i had my copies.... Probably getting the PSX version soon. Too bad they cancled Primal Rage 2 :(
The game doesn't need to be remastered it's perfect the way it is. A PlayStation game will work on PlayStation 2 , PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 . They need to finish and release Primal Rage 2 that got cancelled.
Any Primal Rage not on a Sega or Nintendo console is pretty uncommon. Pretty much the rarer the System the more pricey, the JAGUAR CD port is like a holy grail at this point.
Such a lame intro sequence even for the time. I really wish the game companies would have just hired the studio to do more stop motion sequences instead.
Primal Rage: Loading Edition
Still faster than any PS4 game out there.
@@dagainz6997 yes the loading time in ps1 seems slightly longer than arcade

And on easy.
This game desperately needs to be remade for this generation! look at the story line, the amazing characters, the special moves and the fatalities!

This really needs the Killer Instinct/MKX treatment.
Amen to that. Keep it beasts-only, ditch the avatars that the cancelled sequel was planning.
The Avatars was basically turning the game into Bloody Roar.
If Primal Rage 2 was not canned, it would have beaten Bloody Roar, since it was planned for September 1996.

God no the xbone killer instinct is garbage.
Very under-rated game imo.
The music on this game was awesome

First. I remember playing that in Midway Arcade Treasures 2
As do I, but sadly, that port suffered from censorship thanks to what was built into the game to prevent piracy.
They need to make a new primal Rage game.

I had this on the SNES.
this game is so old but really good game to play 90s was the best

What about a clayfighter remake
